Reviews for Untappd: Find Beer You'll Love

Untapped is a great app for keeping track of the brews you've tried and making decisions on new ones. There's so many different beers out there and this app can quickly help you weed out some that don't quite make it to whatever standards you set. It's also great for helping you find new breweries and stores that may have your hard to find favorites. So, yeah, I intend on using Untapped for years to come. Cheers!

Like the app, helps me find the beers I like and encourages me to explore. But it's a bit of a pain when you want to log more than one beer (such as when doing a flight of 5 or 6 brews). Also, I'm seeing more and more crashes, even while doing simple things like typing text. That is inexcusable.

Best beer app out there IMHO. Update 3/13/22. Now there are ads on the app but I'm cool with that. What I dont like is that all of my green flags from previous entries have disappeared from the Discover tab. Now you have to open a selection like you are about to add it to see if you have previously tried it before. Gotta drop a star for that. Still a great app though.

For almost 7 years, this app has helped me broaden my horizons, hone my palate, try brews I might not have otherwise, and most of all, put sensory input/output into words. I've seen it develop over that time, and even if I don't use or enjoy some of the features or extra frills, I'm proud of how it's developed into a masterpiece of social networking and educational and reference tools.

This was my all time fav (5*)until a couple months ago. I can't leave more than a 20 word review without it being disrupted and ultimately crashing. Now I'm unable to even open the app, just get the bright yellow screen and eventually a cancel or retry prompt, and have never opened with Google. I have to force stop several times to check in one beer, but not anymore I have also deleted and reinstalled the app a couple weeks ago. Seemed to do the trick for a few days, and now nothing.Android btw

I really enjoy this app. The only reason it's not 5 stars: I feel like there should be more badges for countries, and sometimes when a beer is added and verified with a photo (or a correct spelling is verified with a photo), it remains as is without adding the logo, correct details, etc. But still a great app.

App has gotten buggy with the latest updates. Go to discover a beer to try to check in and more often than not it stops letting you type or click on any beer in the horrible search results. The only button that works is the time line. When clicking back on discover it is still stuck so you have to restart the phone. At least half the time it says I don't have a network connection and won't work at all despite being on wifi or shutting that off and being on 5g unlimited data where web works.

Been using the app since 2011. Lately the app freezes when you're looking for a beer. I can search briefly, but then it locks the phone where I have to completely cancel out of the app several times before I can actually click on the results of my search. When it works it's exactly as advertised and is great for keeping a log of beers you've had and your thoughts if you actually type them out. But the glitchy UI makes me rate as low as I do. I definitely feel like it's gone down in quality.

It does exactly what I wanted it to do. I wanted an app to keep track of the beers I've had. I travel a lot and like to look back on all the local selections I've encountered. Being socially driven gives it a lot of perks for new beers. I am rarely the first on a beer, but it's simple to add them. I only give 4 stars because I know what they charge vendors to get verified and it's a little steep. But being a social app, it's something the consumer doesn't need to worry about too much.

I really enjoy being able to not only catalogue and rate the beers I drink but I can also add the flavor profiles to remember why I gave it a rating. The navigation of the app is also simple and it's easy to scan beers to search them (it's rare that the can or bottle doesn't scan or link to the correct beer). It's also nice to be connected to a community who enjoys the delights of life as I do. All around, a great app.

I love the concept and I love using appreciate of Untappd. However, there are just some usability issues that make that impossible. For example, if you get a flight (or four) at a venue. Try checking in 16 beers in a row. It's not used friendly at all. From a venue's menu you can see what they have and easily check-in a very from the menu, that's great! However after you check-in one you have to search/navigate back through to the menu to check-in the next beer. It takes way too long.

When it works, which it did in the past, it's a good app. However it's had this weird problem for me for a couple of weeks. When Checking in a beer it locks up then says no internet connection then restart phone etc same thing. Not sure exactly when it started but has been like this for a couple of weeks. Whatever you did, you need to undo it! The way it is now sucks! It's the same when on wifi or 5G still no service. Figure it out boys!

Long time user, former paid user. It seems that since ads were added within search results (not sure it was exactly then but around then at least, if memory serves), search has been on and off unresponsive while all other tabs in the app seem to work fine (at least in my experience). I'd be curious to know if paid members are running into this issue.

I have self-promoted this app a lot to my beer drinking friends. Some of the edit features can be tricky to find. A suggestion would be to "rate beers" based on style vs what is now just an overall all-inclusive rating system. I wish all breweries and beer pubs would subscribe and post their current tap list but that's just me being selfish. It's one of my most used apps, love it as much as beer!

Fun app but so poorly written that it's barely useable. When looking for breweries popups obscure the map so that function is useless. It's very difficult to enter beer names. Sometimes you have to put the name of the brewery first, sometimes last. Also when you can find a brewery on the 10% of the map you can see it is often no where near its actual location. The app usually thinks I'm in a different state or even country so it becomes impossible to enter where I purchased or am drinking.

It's great for keeping track and sharing with friends, but the API is suboptimal. The search is impossible to use properly. I'm not even a developer, but I could write a better one in Perl. An improvement would be to be able to rate venues as well. Also, the photo editing is poorly done. I edited and crop my photos outside the app anymore.

For some reason I'm not able to upgrade my previous review. You did help me with checking in to multiple beers rapidly with the "Keep Place After Check-in" setting, and I'm grateful for that. However, I also wish it was easier to find beers of a certain style around me, like all pumpkin beers within a certain radius. Cool app otherwise.

Social app to share beers you like (or don't) that coincidentally tracks and saves tasting notes for the beers you like (or don't). The feed tracking for local bar and brew pub menus is a nice touch. App is quick to load, seems to have had everything I've had to drink in their do lists, and has not been laggy for me to snap pics to add to reviews. Definitely a keeper.

Here's how to get the extra 2 stars, Untappd team. Make uptappd save my progress when I'm doing a beer review. If I accidentally hit the back button, my review isn't saved at all. If I get a call and switch to that app, then come back, poof no more review. I know this is possible because I have other apps that auto-save progress. I shouldn't have to write my review in another app that auto-saves, and then copy / paste it over. Make it happen.

Overall I enjoy the app, However, most times I add a new beer, I get the error message "you didn't appear to select a brewery" even though I type the name and select it from the list. 95% of the time this happens on the mobile app, and I'm forced to add it on my PC. Secondary (minor) complaint is it takes me forever to locate the EDIT for a check-in. It's there, but takes awhile to stumble across it. That, however, could be because of the beers 🍻...
