I have been using the app for a long time now, on iOS platform and have had 1 one issue in 8 years, and the issue ended up being the fill-in doc sent a bad link. Never dropped a call or bad connect. I've coded since 85 and am picky. 1 issue! I believe it is a great app.
Reviews for VA Video Connect
The links I receive never opens the app and it isn't file association related because I checked that first. Please work on a better way to join in the app from any location without the text. Maybe an interface that allows us to log in. The organization knows what classes we log in for. Yet to access on a tablet I have to email/text myself the link. The end user experience here is poor. Maybe a class unique code like Zoom that we can use to copy and paste to enter the class directly in the app.
Every appointment I join using the app, I cannot see or hear, not be seen or heard. As soon as I leave the app and just connect using my phones default browser, no issues. I have gonna on the app settings to ensure it has permission to use the phone's camera and mic, but still does not work properly.
I'm writing this review for all other Veterans trying to use this app. It's actually very good once you get it working. Download the app, go into the phone settings under Apps. Find Va Video Connect in the search bar. Tap it and scroll down to Defaults . Tap Set As Defaults then tap Open Supported Links, then get out of it. Now all links sent by provider in email or message, will open app. This works for Androids. Hope it helps!👍
I was afraid to change screans while connected. as I changed screens during a test to answer the phone twice and was disconnected twice. maybe its in my settings to work in the background. ill see. other than that it worked well.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. When it works it is an OK way to remote in to a medical appointment using your Android device. For example, I am in Maryland, & the VA provider is in Georgia. When it doesn't work, you have just missed a medical appointment (something the VA seriously does NOT want you to do.) Very useful, but still needs work in the areas of connection reliability and ease of use. Note to VA developers: a version that works well on Chromebooks is VERY desirable.
Why do all that? Like I said the link given only opens on the browser. No way to make it open in the app. Nothing they can tell me will make the link open in the app. the app should have an address bar to put the appointment link there. Useless 🤦. This thing doesn't work. When I click the link they send me to connect to it opens in a browser, it won't launch the app. What's the purpose?
I just downloaded this app to get ready for an upcoming appointment, and upon opening the app it keeps telling me that an update is available. When you download the app, it already comes with the latest updates, it doesn't download an old version and then update. It also keeps popping up about permissions I already granted it. Other than that I don't know if it works because I haven't had my appointment yet but it's not sounding well due to previous reviews.
If you can connect to it on a phone, a tablet, through your computer etc. You should be able to connect over the TV. I have a Google smart TV so why can't this app work on that? Also I have a Google phone and I can cast pretty much anything but for some reason I cannot cast the telehealth appointments. Why does the VVC app not allow casting/screen mirroring? For appointments like yoga or Tai chi it would be nice to see the instructor on my much larger TV screen. We have the technology?!
One of the best tools available for VA appointments not requiring an in-office visit! This application may require a little bit of a learning curve, don't expect to log in immediately prior to your tele-visit, this is just setting yourself up for a possible failure and delayed or canceled appointment. Log in at least 10 - 15 minutes early to make sure everything is working and to give you time to correct any issues.
