Works great until something goes wrong! It's good until you have a problem and then good luck getting anybody to help you. Phone support only handles a couple specific situations and emails take over a week to hear back. Chat support doesn't even work and is run entirely by an automated system and I've sat waiting for hours and never get any response. UPDATE: 7 emails sent & 5 chat requests sent... it's 2 weeks later and ZERO replies. (only response was on this review to save face)

Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. There have been at least 5 instances when I needed to speak with someone immediately and have had to wait on hold for over an hour. These have all been situations where I was unable to access my money through issues with the bank or card itself. I've encountered another issue this week that warranted a phone call. I was on hold for over an hour yesterday until the call was dropped. On hold right now for 45 minutes so far. Needs improvement!!!!!

App itself is wonderful, never had a issue as far as that goes. However, having to get a new card has been a nightmare and a half! Each time I've called there I've always had to wait 2 hours and 24 mins! To me that is just unexceptional! I understand business's get busy but to wait on hold for over 2 + hours is absolutely insane. I still have not received my card and it's been 5 months! They lost my business for sure.

No 24/7 support. They ask you several questions, sometimes the same question, different ways when trying to cancel and close out the account. Mandatory to set up direct deposit through them to qualify for an instant advance, whereas other apps do not require that. Overall, it's like pulling teeth trying to close your account or get an advance won't be recommending this to anyone. You should be able to push buttons from your end and close out the account all by yourself like other apps.

I received an email requesting documentation to verify my information. I did that. Did not hear a thing back. Called. The agent says they will expedite it. Days later, and my account is still suspended. This is very very frustrating. I have bills and credit cards and recurring investments linked to the account, and now it is all screwed up! Some of my investment accounts liquidated some of my stocks because the platform cannot access my varo account!!! It is truly insane.

I can't believe I didn't leave a review! Great bank card! This, Along with the Varo Believe Card, do wonders for your credit. You can borrow a decent amount of money if needed, and you can build up the amount you want to receive. Best thing is being able to switch money from checking to savings and vice versa at anytime, instantly. Been using Varo for about 4 years now, and any problems I've had they fixed quickly. Definitely download this if your still using NetSpend cards. Thank me later!

I absolutely cannot stand this app or the bank for that matter. Your transaction log will look one way then the next day it will be in a completely different order. I found it nearly impossible to even keep the account positive bc they would let pending things fall off and then go and add them back later on. No one wants to keep track of that stuff and every other bank has figured it out except them. How Chime isnt allowed a lot of places now but Varo is, is ridiculous. Chime is far superior.

My account was closed and I can't even access the new app. I changed my info and when I went to the app it said I wasn't approved. How is this possible when I have the new card and set it up before the other varo money app was done. Help from customer service is a joke. I was on hold for over an hour then just got disconnected. I'm glad I made sure my money was spent. I will just use another company all together its too much of an inconvenience for a pre paid card.

Direct deposits always late or missing for a while. I don't understand why. It's not my payroll provider when thousands of people are having the same or worse issues. This 4.7 score for the app is impossible. It's really unbelievable. I was hoping these issues would change. The amount of problems many are having is honestly scaring me. I had good hopes for varo, I'm going to have to find a new bank. It's unfortunate. Good luck to all other users.

No ads! Varo bank account is real and safe, very reliable! No overdraft, they do offer a savings account and you can get a varo advance for so much money after your account has been active for so long and you've had 1000 dollars in deposits in a month! I've had this bank account for about a year now and I have absolutely no complaints. They do not hold your funds, I always get paid when I should. Customer service is okay, they could be a tad bit better! Great bank account though! Thank you!

I opened an account and set up direct deposit. All was great, and loved the account. Then, I attempted to transfer into the account from my Bank of America account. Not sure why, but had issues more than once. Out of the blue, they closed my account with no warning, saying the failed transfer attempts seemed like fraudulent activity. Customer support did nothing. They absolutely suck for doing it out of the blue when I had direct deposit set up. Would give a zero if I could.

Updated to 3 stars — Better, but not yet at an acceptable level for the number all-service failures... Several "technical difficulties" recently that prevent transfers, or use of the card, in any capacity. Very frustrating because I can't purchase food for my family until this is fixed. ATM, debit, credit, and electronic transfers down. I guess this is what I get for leaving a regular bank. I had faith in Varo, but its happened almost daily in the last month or so. Varo, we are hungry.

Best advised with the Line of Credit offering that even if you get approved, use it, and pay it back in full, never late, you can be refused to use it again. If your credit score drops or your direct deposit does, even temporarily or just choose to leave them for a different checking account, then they will pause your credit line just like their Advance. This is NOT a real line of credit, even though you get hit with a hard inquiry on your credit report like one.

I've had the account for several years and haven't had any issues. I like using Varo Advance and the high apy. Overall, I like the interface. The transactions tracking could be more user friendly. I'm sad that Zelle isn't an option anymore. I was initially impressed with the option to recommend features, but that has gone away, though many features were implemented. The only thing I need is an option to set savings goals and divide by some sort of bucket. I use another bank for that feature.

Ever since they parted ways from using Zelle in their interface, I use it even less than before. They still offer an ok "High Yield" Savings Account compared to a regular one, you can find better rate for your savings account in other banks. But that's it, they do not offer a Bucket feature in their savings account like Ally Bank, no CD, no other extraordinary product to offer. You could do better.

Always ISSUES ! Seems like every time I turn around there's something going on with Vero Go in today to move money from my savings to my account to pay some bills and now I can't even log in on the website or the app to tell how much money I have or transfer funds from my savings to my account to pay my bills that are due on the 1st of the month I'm getting so tired of this I am truly thinking about switching accounts because every time I turn around there's an issue! I'm giving it 1 star because when it comes to mobile check deposits, they lack in the worst way ever!! If you are like me and need your money same day or even the same week, don't use it!! I recieved a check from unemployment, I used the mobile deposit feature on the app and it says it's "under review". That process alone can take 1-2 business days and then another 5-7 to actually receive the money. I'm beyond annoyed and I will never use it again!! In fact, I'm closing my account once it clears

I really enjoy using the app the cash advances come in handy but they don't start out so small that it's not really worth it. the one of the worst things that is the mobile deposit. if you make a deposit of a check it can Wait almost 8 days before they make funds available they don't even give you a portion as a provisional credit. I wouldn't use the mobile deposit if you're wanting funds deposited and credited quickly

I only got to put in my login information, yet I wasn't approved. I can't even get to the dashboard , to input information like other apps, so what information was used to not approve. in addition was unable to hit the help button. well, Varo must be faulty, red flags from the beginning means, issues andmay have trouble receiving help. Makes me wonder was i not approved based on my location

Displays weird error messages to the user: GraphQL Oops Something went wrong. Disrespectful. Now I was able to sign up, but the mobile app keeps logging me out and asking me to verify with authentication code through my email every time. This is super annoying and wasted my time. UPDATE: today, Oct 2, they actually blocked the whole app and the whole website from anybody using it. I can't believe it. They are holding my money and I can't even use it!
