I would give this app 5 stars if it had more options for the alarm. Wish we could determine how long it goes off and why do we need to see a message every single time before turning it on? It's a waste of time to have to hit a button twice to activate the alarm when it can just be done once. Please get rid of that box that pops up asking if we want to turn it on! UPDATE: After last firmware update I can no longer connect to the bird feeder, real bummer.

I have a trash bag on my front porch that the app has repeatedly labelled as both a "pet wandering around"(in the saved videos it is motionless, but has the orange border around it indicating it) or a "package that was delivered". My back door camera which I got to monitor a stray cat seems completely unable to detect the cat anymore.
Bought camera off Amazon to view who comes n goes from my front door. There is a 10 second delay in notifications which I'm not happy with. Now after their latest update, It won't let me connect to the camera to watch live. Too bad I can't change apps or I would in a heartbeat. Do better VicoHome or leave it to others who do BETTER!!!!!!! If your app doesn't work during the free trail, why should I have faith in paying for your subscription.
The "Owner's Manual" fonts are too small for adults 40+ to read comfortably. Also, only paragraph headings, subject matter or key-words are highlighted in black fonts while most of the text is a very faint gray color making it difficult to read. Moreover, the instructions are simply not clear and do not coincide with the reality of the hardway. I was going to return the cameras because I found the setup agrivating and irritating but my wife convinced me NOT to return them just yet.
I have had several cameras for several years. They are a bit delayed on notifications and catch little things like wind blowing leaves but sometimes not people or cars. I purchased these cameras because I was able to record to an SD card and not have to pay a subscription. Sadly, as of 7-8-25, You must pay a monthly subscription, or only a thumbnail is available. With the issues and delays, I would not pay a subscription fee. I will look for other cameras.
App ok but huge bait and switch!! Box the feeder comes in mentions a number of functions but never mentions that a subscription is required to get these. You also need an account to set up. Not mentioned either! Got this as a gift several months ago. Would've gone back had I known this was subscription scam. One other issue with app. While there is cloud storage, will it still be there in a week as I will never buy sub? Can delete from cloud. No way to delete files from SD card without format.
The app works quite well in detection motion and notifying if there is a bird present. However, the AI bird recognition is often terrible. I have followed the instructions from support to send feedback for bad IDs and it would supposedly get better, but if anything it is getting worse. The makers of this app should be embarrassed that they charge money for something that is wrong so often with birds being id'd that are not possible within thousands of miles.
Update: 9/15 - For the past 2 weeks the "Free, 3 day cloud service" for recording video clips is NOT working. It is only taking still shots. And no response from customer service. Ever since July 8 update, all 3 cams are behaving badly - adjusting sensitivity to high or medium results in numerous alerts from tiger lily stems blowing in the breeze or a trickling fountain, while the medium to low setting often completely misses vehicles and people walking in clear view.
Updated 9/4- looks like it was a temp error and it started recording back. 9/2 Purchased the product because it supported video recording, and all was going great, UNTIL now, all of a sudden, it ONLY takes an image (no more videos) and they are forcing for a subscription for the videos saved even on to your phone (which used to be free all this time). Beware of this before you purchase!!!
This app has become more and more disappointing, to say the least.***Warning*** (Read the privacy policy) etc. Delete the app. It doesn't record audio half the time, and it rarely detects people or packages being delivered or taken, as well as this app isn't recording motion and/or events that it should be, as My"Ring" does! Hopefully you can get it fixed. Maybe, have an actual human fix the bugs/problems, instead of having "AI" do everything for you, like so many other businesses do! Thanks
I've been using these cameras for years (recently purchased an additional one, which I now regret) and had been pretty happy with them. One of the main reasons I bought them was because I could use an SD card for basic functions: recording short video when motion was detected. That is no longer the case - they recently took away that option and replaced it with a thumbnail. If I want video, I now have to purchase a subscription. Talk about bait and switch! I'm pissed.
Poor customer service and changing terms on the fly. In April 2025 I bought an annual subscription for multiple devices. I noticed later that the app didn't record the purchase, but I did have the features. I opened a support ticket and provided the evidence of my original purchase. The support ticket was later closed with no action taken. Now, as of Sep 1, I no longer have the features that were formerly the reason to use the app.
EDIT: Now after 2 years they are going to remove the basic features of the free version and lock them behind a subscription. Not cool! Started out great but now sneaks in ads for upgrades. I am perfectly fine with the free version, now everytime i open the app i get a popup asking if i want to upgrade to the plus plan. After saying NO i get another popup asking if I'm sure. Remove this annoyance and back to 5 stars. Yes, i am sure i don't need the paid version.
The cameras work. The delay in notifications and recording are sort of annoying. We can't change the app sounds on one device, but can on the other. Same devices, same software version but the option is only available to the first phone app. The logging in repeatedly is highly annoying. As others have mentioned only one user at a time in the app or you have to sign in again. 3 steps each time. Also the push for pay is annoying and motion detection in the free version is not adjustable.
Very pleased with the control over the home security camera that the app gives me. The basic recording function available with the free version is pretty good for my needs but I added the cloud storage for some inexpensive peace of mind, although an SD card would have eliminated the need. It was an easier option and it doesn't cost that much per month.
Setup was easy. UI for rest of app, especially viewing and deleting videos from the bird feeder, is clunky and not intuitive. Since videos are best viewed in landscape mode, it would be nice if the list of videos could also be viewed in landscape mode so that you could switch back and forth between those two screens without having to keep rotating your phone. Would also like a Widget that displayed the most recent photo from a selected camera.
Basically Adware. Even though you purchased hardware for a substantial price, the app will constantly bombard you with "optional" ads and up-sells to the point where you have to wade through X boxes in order to actually use the device you purposed. This isn't a piece of hardware, but an ad-delivery service. There are better platforms/devices out there that don't hold the hardware hostage. I recommend using them instead.
Camera is great and app has potential. But it rarely identifies a bird correctly. It labels it as the wrong species or thinks it's a person or pet. This isn't that big of a deal, except that my feathered visitors section is full of errors that (according to the dev) can't be removed. I was really looking forward to keeping track of the birds that have REALLY visited. Plus, getting notifications (in error) that there's a person in your yard is a bit alarming/annoying.
Great camera! Works great! I have 1 camera I'm running with this app. It's been 2 years, no issues. I have 5 other cameras I run on other apps, but they all work about the same. I do love that this one actually records for 10 seconds to the memory card, no paid services. I check the feed when I get a notification or want to check on my dogs or deliveries when I'm not home. 👍
Really straightforward app! I use it for my birdfeeder! One thing I will say is that since getting the trial for Vico Birds the app lags a bit. Sometimes it won't open the latest events tab unless I quit and reload the app once or twice. Also, regarding the Vico Birds function, I wish I could change the identification of the birds or ID Birds the app fails to. Like it won't ID a California Thrasher and constantly mis-IDs Finches as birds that aren't in my area. Overall I still enjoy it!
