What a piece of garbage. The "update" gives me blank white squares. No listing for Laurel Oaks golf course, etc. It asks if you want to update, but gives you no choice. Once you update, it keeps asking you for an update. Please get rid of this software team and get someone who can deliver a usable product. This junk software has needed updates for years.
I bought a new phone and after transferring data, the Villages GPS wanted me to sign up again for a price. Since I bought the service years ago, I contacted the provider and the problem was remedied within 10 minutes. Wonderful service and I highly recommend downloading the Villages GPS app.
Just did update and now no icons on main page and keeps saying new update available when opening apt but when you go to play store just gives option to open. this is my goto app hopefully it still works on navigation as looks unfinished. was gonna uninstall and reinstall to see if it fixes it but heard people say if you do you have to repurchase it and I just paid. Update: Yes now fixed....
App is really great and the best service ever! I had an issue with my phone settings, and customer service got right back to me and helped me fix the issue with the sound speed. It was a phone issue, not an app issue. I love using the app. It's great and easy to understand. Definitely a 5-star rating.
Finally, an app that fills a need that other apps do not have, namely, travel by golf cart paths. Important for all residents, but especially part-time residents and guests. Nice perks that include access to websites as well as shopping and entertainment venues . You can also just search by address or name and find directions. Tech support is excellent.
Locks up often - when first opened, and when en route, when it's especially needed. Frequently misdirects - says to turn when no turn available; voice direction often doesn't match the visual; and once took me to a road that ended but continued to direct me forward. Search function is terrible, too - won't always detect locations, even when it previously had. Complained to a friend that I foolishly paid $7.00 for this awful app and learned The Villages has GPS on their official (and FREE!) app.
I very much appreciate the Villages GPS app. It is accurate and easy to use, especially in light of the daily occurrence of new and changing locations. To get directions on the golf cart trails, many Villagers regularly use this app. Viewing the app while traveling is simple. When deciding future plans to visit Villages and points of interest, the POINT TO POINT tool is a great addition. Additionally, I find that the Villages GPS team responds to emails with queries in a very short time.
My subscription renewed but not able to get on app. Keep getting message to install and subscribe. If I press that, tells me I am already subscribed until April 2026. Don't know who to get in touch with. Someone else just told me they are having the same issue. Help please. UPDATE! they immediately reached out and the problem was solved!
The staff is amazing & very responsive to questions but more importantly, the App is a necessity if you live in The Villages & have a golf cart. I can't tell you the number of times the App has prevented me from getting lost & most importantly, from going on a road that is not designated for golf carts. The signs in The Villages are lacking at times. It has prevented me from being in an accident or causing someone else to be in an accident many times. It's worth every penny you pay for it!
This app is essential in the villages. It will guide you to where ever you want to go easily. I rated this a 4 vs a 5 because there are 2 things that would make it more useful. 1) It sets your path at the start, but doesnt always adjust the route to your destination if you get side tracked along the way. It sometimes does but not always. 2) Its not always as helpful on walking/bike paths as it is on golf paths. Perhaps I need to adjust settings? Overall, terrific app.
