So here's my take on VINTrucks. I've tested a bunch of car/truck apps and this one's pretty solid. The VIN decoding works well and the EDR data lookup is super helpful if you need that kind of info. Not gonna lie, the subscription fee is a bit of a bummer, but if it saves you time on the job it's probably worth it. Definitely better than trying to hunt down all that info manually. Overall, if you're a mechanic or truck tech, this is a pretty useful app to have in your toolbox.

Description

Been using VINTrucks for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that uses the NHTSA VIN decoder to help identify what EDR data might be available for your heavy truck. Pretty solid if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you enter your truck’s VIN and the app tells you all about the year, chassis, engine manufacturer, and other details. There’s also a database of EDR data – it’ll show you what modules might have info recorded. Took me a while to figure all that out but it’s actually pretty useful.

Look, if you work on heavy trucks and need to access EDR data, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the subscription model is a bit annoying – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you’re in the truck repair business.
