I don't think the Android version is as impressive as the Windows version, but I love the fact that Vivaldi, which is based in Iceland, makes it easy to block either ads, trackers, or both. And yet somehow they provide the service for free! It would totally be worth it to pay a dollar, maybe two, per month to use it, just for the time and data/memory/processing power saved by not seeing nearly as many ads when searching the web, nevermind the customization.
Reviews for Vivaldi Browser - Fast & Safe
← Back to Vivaldi Browser - Fast & SafeIt's just so stripped down. You can't even see what time you visited websites in your history, and there's a lot of basic settings (like adding/editing search engines) that are affected by sync with desktop but can't be changed in-app. Rich customization is what makes the browser shine on desktop. The mobile app is very disappointing in that regard. Please just give us more settings in-app.
This browser is very fast. That's the good part. Unfortunately, it often does not work with various web sites or security features that do work in other browsers such as Firefox or Brave. Case in point: A site wants send a security code to my phone via SMS when logging in. The code never arrives. The feature works fine on the same site in the other browsers mentioned. For these reasons, I cannot use it as the default browser.
Fantastic browser. The most feature-packed and customizable modern browser. The only reason for 4/5 rather than a perfect score is the inability to have add-ons/extensions on mobile. I utilize privacy-focused extentions on the desktop (privacy badger, ublock, etc.) but cannot use them on mobile. Firefox has this ability, which leaves me conflicted when choosing a browser for my phone.
Some kind of bug prevents me from opening the menu button and the address bar. More than half of the time I can't exit the app from the menu to automatically delete browser data upon exit. Which is kind of the point, right? I have to close it from the recent apps window, then open it again just get the menu to work. This is very frustrating, enough to ruin a good browser. I've been using this app for almost year. Very annoying, will be switching to another browser.
Vivaldi is the best browser I've tried, but it could be better still. I get frequent crashes and lose my Private tabs. I use a dictionary app to get definitions while reading online. The second page of the context menu has Web search, Translate, Append to note, Copy to note, Translate (again), and finally the dictionary link. I want to remove translate and notes from the menu.
UPDATE: 3/18/24 After the latest update, this web browser keeps crashing almost immediately on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. It doesn't matter what URL or search topic I type in; it crashes on EVERYTHING! BEWARE! ‐------------------------------------- If you're sick of the never-ending barrage of ads, videos, trackers, and pop-ups, THIS is the web browser you've been waiting for! It blows away EVERY other browser, and once you've experienced an ad-free browsing experience, you'll never go back!
Tried this and it's horrible, almost impossible to use, it starts videos on its own without ever getting or asking permission which I never allow, it jumps from one article to another, entirely at its WHIM, while I trying to read, it's jumps even more if you try to type a comment somewhere, it's completely and utterly a frustrating waste of time . And, it's impossible to make a bookmark . Which is so easy on every browser I've seen . It says they responded, but they didn't . waste of time .
Dunno what happened with one of the updates, but when I chose to Customize my start and selected a background, the app crashed... and keeps crashing. Cleared the cache, nothing. I'd really hate to have to clear the data cause I had some 20 tabs with random. Please fix this issue or at least give me a workaround that'll let me save the tabs. Update: never really recovered my tabs, had to dig around history. At least the app has gotten better, also alike to the desktop version.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Android 15, One UI 7.0. Open in Landscape and set in Desktop user agent mode, along with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, the closest experience to my old Windows computer. LOVE the dark mode and many customizations, including choice of search engines. However, I wish I could be routed to the Facebook web page instead of the mobile application, as I have the browser set up to view it. This might be more a problem with the device, which I'm discovering more about it.
The mobile app is amazingly perfect! I downloaded the desktop app and will continue to use it for the syncing, but it seems a lot more resource intensive (especially during extended periods of browsing) than Chrome. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing it even more streamlined.
Vivaldi is my go to browser on mobile and desktop. Its built-in ad blocker is one of the best out there, and its tab management set the standard for what's expected in modern browsers. Reader mode, notes, and tabs are seamlessly synced between desktop and mobile. I've tried pretty much every other browser and keep coming home to Vivaldi.
My only wish for this app at this point is for them to add a universal Reader Mode for mobile. They've inched towards it, but despite it having been implemented in many other services, they still only allow you to do it on "compatible" pages, which is a shame when you're likely to come across sites with very intrusive ads and soft paywalls on mobile that can't be avoided.
After years of stubbornly sticking with Firefox out of a desire to avoid Google products, I finally had to make the switch for productivity reasons and out of frustration with their AI integration. Could not have found a better product, the features are rich, the interface is delightful, and there is no forced AI slop. Highly recommend on desktop and mobile.
Been testing this out to compare with Firefox since it's missing a few features I want. I'm impressed with how well it handles websites when my phone Android computer is plugged in to a secondary display, it's a bit glitchy with some web apps but much better than Firefox. I also love that the ad blocker is built in. I've been done with Google Chrome for a while cuz of the trashy ads experience, but trying to figure out how alternatives compare. The UI could use some work, but it's decent.
It's pretty snappy and solid, a good replacement to Dolphin if that's what you're used to that. I really adore the stack tab feature. and it seems pretty stable so far. I like to abuse my tabs to hell and back sometimes going all the way up to the hundreds for the hell of it and been helpful with that. It seems to take it like a champ. navigation does seem a little cramped though and could use better mapping in horizontal mode with the back and forth buttons. my only complaint so far.
Doesn't block all popups/redirects! Extensions work better, and are more customizable, than what's integrated into browsers. ublock origin can block all popups, AND redirects! So far, from what I've seen, developers are just to lazy to add the extra, that's needed to support extensions, like kiwi browser did exceptionally!😒 Want to make your browser great? Then add extension support!
I'm not as tech savy as other reviewers, but so far I love this! as someone who's only slightly into this stuff more than the average person, how easy it was to switch and immediately begin using has been great. what made me choose this over other browsers is the devs stance on "AI" in browser. second biggest thing I like is how well adblock works. I'm sure there's way more robust ways to go about it than I am, but again as someone casual this has been great!
Feels good and works great. I primarily use because of the desktop version. It's not perfect, few things could be improved. The bookmarks is awkward if used a lot with lots of folders, the tree doesn't close, making it a long scroll. Needs more settings like desktop. The UI could use a compact mode. No support for Chrome Addons. That said it does come with a good adblock, darkmode, sync, tabs, groups, swipe control, and extras like reading list, notes, and translate. Edit: changed Cons
Awesome! I use it on my work laptop, my home machine, my phone. I like it. it is convenient and very practical. I can rename my tabs, set them on my left side. Some functions are builtin like taking a picture of my current page. I don't need an extension for it. I can use Google extensions when needed. it is perfect for me.
