The app is fine. It tries to control your devices and I'm starting to find that the network performance of your particular device can affect ability to control it from this app. Sometimes though, a factory reset of the device is all you can do to regain control of it. So the app is somewhat limited; but once control is present, access to all the device's settings, navigation, and power and volume controls are shown in a clean presentation. Check for updates to the device just in case.
Reviews for VIZIO | WatchFree+
← Back to VIZIO | WatchFree+This app is so poorly made it makes me think the developers probably only put a few days work into it. Maybe if they took the weekend and doubled their efforts we might have a real app. My devices will NOT pair with this app. I've tried multiple phones. Ive tried factory resetting my sound bar multiple times. I've tried manually setting the wireless connection. I've tried connecting via bluetooth. And when, after an hour of trying, it finally connects, it disconnects the moment I turn the TV off
It's awful. It only connects to my TV after restarting my phone. It stops working as soon as I use ANY other app on my phone. That's very handy, Vizio. None of the other apps in the Play Store will even locate my TV. The remote that comes with the TV is basically a paperweight with the power of turning the TV on/off. ***The response to my review was quite rude. Suggesting that I'm too stupid to know how to use the app/equipment rather than address the actual problem is just a hot garbage take.
It disconnects from the device a lot and the connection to the tv has had to be redone almost 2 times a week. Also casting to the device is quirky too. It is near impossible to pair with this app! I changed my review to one star! Once I finally get it to pair, after a few weeks it starts say it isn't paired. Then trying to repair it takes 1000's of tries and almost an hour. No wonder I got such a good "deal" on this TV. Turned out to be quite the crappy deal.
This is an really good app so far, but there's lack of features. For example, lack of profile pictures. I want to change my profile picture because the gray icon on my profile just somewhat really bothers me. Second of all, is that there's lack of accessibility features for captions. As someone who is unsure that they have dyslexia, it would've been better if we could change the captions font just to see it better. All though, good app so far.
App works great and use it all the time, but recently, I have had issues searching for specific movies and tells me no results. I used to be able to search any title, and it would tell me if it was available for rent or free using specific apps. It appears certain titles no longer appear in search. For example, the Wrong Missy movie is available on Netflix, but searching brings the error of no results.
This app is the most frustrating app I've ever used. I downloaded it because my remote keeps walking off, and I thought this would be a good solution until I find where the remote is hidden. However, it only works approximately 60% of the time, and when it DOES work, it's frequently very slow and awkward. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't seem to fix the problem, and today it just stopped working while I was actually in the process of using it. Just going to buy a new remote at this point.
Just bought a p-series soundbar and the app is terrible. It always reloads when entering the app. Even if I have the app open and switch, for a second to another and come back, it has to find the device again and that's a 50/50 chance of happening. I can't find my brand new sound bar to add to a chromecast group. Edit: I've returned the 5.1.4. Elevate to Best Buy because of the issues. I'm not spending time on support to hook something up that should be plug and play.
Here we go again. Can we just get a consistent remote function without the added BS. In the effort to "make things bigger and better," connection is lost again. Or even better, can we just get a standard remote that can be purchased since we were shafted with the basic remote that came with our "smart" tvs, so we don't have to use software that is hit or miss with each update.
Dependable. Since the app and the TV communicate through WiFi, I can control the TV when the phone is laying on a table in the kitchen -- the traditional infrared remote control can't do that. The app's menus are more flexible than using the Vizio remote control, too. But, the app doesn't see my TV if the phone is connected through a VPN. And, the ads in the app are Too Prominent, 'specially since I never care to watch the Hip-Culture, Made-For-TV-Dramas they're always pushing.
I bought a couple of replacement remote controls, and this app works so much easier than they do (got my daughter and me one since she's always losing hers). I hate the Watch Free button on the remote because I'm constantly pressing it due to its placement. However, using this app on my phone fixes that problem. I forgot I had this on my phone until today, and all the frustration of using the physical remotes could have been avoided over the recent past.
I thought that I could use the app to play music from my phone off of YouTube to my 5.1 soundbar SE without having the TV screen on. I guess not, it won't even connect. If it takes longer than five seconds to connect or find the device, it's not worth it and that's being generous. It was hard finding the app on Google play without the instruction manual because the name is misleading (Thinking it's just a TV streaming app version). A standard mini speaker has this function!
I've owned this speaker for a month, the sound quality is great. One huge downfall is I can't ever keep my Bluetooth connected. The Vizio app I have uninstalled multiple times. I have restarted my phone multiple times. I have unplugged and hard reset the speaker multiple times. nothing works. the app will work for about 30 seconds and then say it cannot connect to the speaker. I cannot adjust any of the settings on the EQ. I have used two different Android phones.
This is so damn annoying, I tried to connect my app to my tv for about an hour. It doesn't work. The app constantly tells me it's unable to process requests and straight up does nothing, I retry and retry, disconnect my wifi, get another code, use the mobile app which barely works or head to a link that also doesn't, then do 10 backflips, all just like it said, and nothing. Honestly, I don't know why I bought one of these.
Just use the remote instead! 99% of the time I can't connect to the speaker with this app. When it does connect, it will work for only a couple minutes. I then waste another part of my life trying and hoping it will work again. Unplugging it and reconnecting the power plug does increase my chance of the normalcy I hope for. Alas, only in my dreams. On a good note, the speakers sound awesome dor the price.
I don't know why people say you can watch shows on your phone. Maybe on Apple but not on Android. All it does is stream to the tv. Terrible app and streaming is slow and drops connection repeatedly. Please make it so we can listen to the tv sound through our phone so we don't disturb our partner while they are sleeping. Fix the big where the tv turns off randomly on it's own. It's the only tv I've ever owned or used that will just shut itself off in the middle of watching a program.
I bought this TV thinking it was going to be an easy set up.. nothing can be further than the truth. 1. the app and TV are useless unless there is an internet connection. even to set up the TV its required. 2 the insane data collection.. way to much info is asked from us. I don't feel comfortable with the amount of data being collected. 3. after 4 days I packed it up and returned it because the UI on both the TV and the app suck. I rather buy an roku or one and just use that..
It's convenient to have if you lose your remote or the batteries die. Or if you have more than one Vizio TV in the same room....but...the fact that it keeps disconnecting from the TV, nonstop, is beyond annoying and aggravating. Most of the time it won't reconnect no matter how many times you try and force it to. Even if you completely close the app and reopen it.
I have gone through 3 Vizio replacement remotes. For some reason, the TV doesn't want to respond to the remote buttons, or when it does it lags or goes in the wrong direction, or makes the wrong selection. It's Maddening. This app alleviates those issues. Issues with App...It won't turn the TV on if it's off..need to use standard remote, and why can't you customize the app bar at the top with the services you use? The only one there that is useful is Hulu.
Had some problems in the past that support worked out for me. This app has come a long way and is working great for me. I have had a few minor issues here and there, usually after an Android update, but they usually get fixed pretty quick. I can't give it 5 stars yet as I am not currently using it on my own network, it's a house Wi-Fi, so I am assuming some of my issues have to do with router distance.
