The app is pretty simple. My favorite thing is the widget for my screen. It's super straightforward, but you can set the intervals for how often you want a new word. At first I thought maybe I want just one per day so I can practice using it all day, but I found myself being impatient for a new word, so now I have it set for every hour. I forgot how much I liked English in school. Excited to have this app.

been using the free version for a week or so now and I have definitely been achieving the goal of expanding my vocabulary. I love the ability to get notifications so I can micro practice the words I've saved. I wish I could make sure it pulls only from the words in my collection or favorites, but that is a paid feature which I am all for them doing that. they deserve compensation for that feature, I'm just too cheap and budgeting hardcore right NOW, but plan to buy it eventually. Great app!

I like the concept of the app. I want to learn new words daily and this is a great way. Unfortunately, the words are very elementary. I even switched my level to advanced and I am still getting words like ambulance, beau, introvert, decern, and original. Literal elementary words that most English speakers know by the time they enter middle school. It's been very disappointing. I gave it a week or two before leaving a review and ultimately uninstalling.

Pretty ok app overall. Works nice and widgets are good. Definitely would help someone who is learning English! Although, I have a couple issues. For one, I feel the difficulty levels are all over the place. When I chose "advanced", I expected rare, interesting words that I mostly didn't know. Occasionally, I got that. (I use the widget) But giving me words like "original"?? I think the advanced difficulty needs a bit of a rework is all. Also, I feel the app is incredibly limited by paywalls.

I’ve been using this vocabulary app for a while now, and I must say, it’s one of the best learning tools I’ve come across. The words I do get notifications of are often repetitive. I often come across the same words and it's very rare for me to get one that hasn't appeared to me yet via the app. Not to mention the words aren't very difficult or suitable for the difficulty I chose (advanced, the most difficult option), I feel like most, if not all the words that pop up for me are 5th or 6th grade (of American K-12) level at most.

This app is not for those with an advanced vocabulary. Even though is has options for helping people with advanced vocabulary, I was sorely disappointed with the words it was giving me. On the occasion that a word caught my interest in a push notification, when I would open the notification it wouldn't open to the word it was showing me. But if you are looking to grow your vocabulary from a smaller starting point it can be helpful. The definitions can be slightly off occasionally.

The app itself is well done and has many great features such as the practice, widget, and option to favorite words. However, for a paid app, the content leaves a lot to be desired. On day 1, I came across several words whose definitions are incorrect or which utilize the word itself as the definition and there is no readily available reporting function for the word if a problem is found. Too many simple words and too few advanced words. $20/yr is a bit steep for a teaching app with inaccuracies.

I bet the app would be nice if I didn't have to PAY FOR PREMIUM FOR EVERYTHING. The interface looked nice, but it was frustrating to discover that you can't USE the app without either getting the free trial or paying for a subscription! That's not even to mention the fact that it didn't even give me a test and, instead, asked for what I believe my vocabulary level is at. What's even the point?

The fact that you have to pay so much for basic features is frustrating. I tried to watch the voice because one of them was inaccurate, but when I tried to switch it back it tried to get me to pay again. Speaking of, don't trust the pronunciations to be accurate. It doesn't look like they actually correspond with the pronunciation, just the spelling. Getting words wrong such as potentate and belie. I think there are quite likely better apps. This one is only good for Pinterest-esque aesthetics.

UX is very good and it is clear that is where all the development effort was put, as the app's actual vocabulary is not great, and it's pronunciations are laughably bad in most cases. If you want to use this app to look up words or pronunciation, you will be disappointed.

this app is a ridiculous waste of time. it forces you to answer a LOT of questions, and then it tells you about the puny amount of service that you get unless you go premium. Also, there is no way to and the setup process and get out of the questions unless you power off your phone! You cannot close the app. You have to power down and restart. it's absurd! I'll be uninstalling after leaving this review.

Well, the themes are cute and the app itself has a good structure, but I dislike how you have to pay for so many things! I understand you have to make money and we're lucky to not get any ads, but I would enjoy it if some of the items were free! I also wish you could make the speakers free because what if someone doesn't know how to pronounce the word or know how it sounds? I would enjoy the app a lot more if the speakers were free. Otherwise, it's an okay app.

I've been able to skate by on passable themes without paying for maybe about a year now (between devices). What frustrates me is being unable to follow more "advanced" topics (not even ones I create!) and I feel that I don't get to see the words I've added myself nearly as often as basic words that need no explanation. Why is "secondly" a word included in this app? I've also encountered multiple words with misspellings or incorrect definitions; feels pretty AI which is cringey and plain lazy.

OK, but not great. I used the 3 day trial of premium and canceled. I consider myself of average (maybe ever so slightly above) vocabulary and wanted to use this to learn some new words. In 3 days, the intermediate level of the app seemed to be mostly words I am familiar with, which I guess makes sense. The real loss of two stars comes from getting the same word twice in three days. My guess is that the widget words and app reminder words don't pull from the same list and check them off.

The app is easy to use and visually appealing. I was disappointed in the variety and complexity of the words. These are all very common words that anyone with a middle school eduducation or above would know. I can definitely see its usefulness for expanding the vocabulary of a child's or someone without lower education. This purpose should perhaps be made more clear in the ads and app description. Paying a subscription for an app like this is absolutely ridiculous though.

I'm a premium subscriber. There is only one game, which is really just a multiple choice quiz. It would be more useful if the quiz was customizable to focus on one topic or my collections. It would be helpful if my collections were easier to edit (e.g., moving words from one collection to another or renaming collections). Fipping through words and their definitions and working through easy multiple choice "games" is not an effective way for me to learn.

The application is outstanding. However, I do have a bone to pick. Every time I attempt to save a word to a collection, it creates a new collection tab, and it doesn't even save the word! I am grateful that this feature works well on my IOS device, but my Samsung phone is my primary. I will rate 5 stars once the issue is resolved. Until then, my anxiety is at its peak! Please fix this!!!

Great app and love it. I signed up for the free trial. Previous bug of empty collections being created has been fixed. But (1) I cannot move words from one collection to another or save it in multiple collections except the default "Want to memorize". (2) App either crashes or navigates to the "new word" page when any of the challenges tile is clicked. (3) is it possible to have new sentences every time for a word in practice?

I thought the high ratings and popularity meant this was a great vocabulary app. Well, if you're in high school, perhaps, but certainly not if you completed any higher education. At first I liked it enough to pay for it and it's nice that you can select categories and levels, but in an attempt to stop getting words like "absent" (you learn this in elementary school!), I eventually only had expert words selected and still kept getting very basic vocabulary served. I gave up and uninstalled it.
