I've had issues again today that I will receive notifications of new messages in a chat, but they do not show up when I go into the chat. (This happened once before and was fixed by removing myself from thr group and being added again. ) More importantly and why I gave it 2 stars, voxer needs to have a search ability for keywords within chats for Android users, not just iPhone users. Thank you!
Reviews for Voxer Walkie Talkie Messenger
← Back to Voxer Walkie Talkie MessengerWithout a doubt one of the buggiest apps I've ever used. I almost never get notifications when a new message comes in, and then somehow it shows me several unread messages even though I've read them. I've played around with all the settings multiple times, nothing solves the problems. The only reason I still have this is that I have one friend who insists on using it to communicate. Otherwise I would have given up long ago. It's pretty much useless.
Everytime they patch it, something else gets broken. This app always has issues. Ive used it for well over 7 years now and it never seems to work properly. The only reason I continue to use it is because it's literally the only way my friends communicate with each other anymore. When it works properly (rare) it really is a great app. There are plenty of better PTT apps out there, but my friends are stubborn and won't make the switch, so I will sadly continue using this app.
Incredibly excessive battery usage. I noticed my battery life was tanking and when I checked, Voxer was responsible for a full 25% of battery use in the past 24 hours. I never opened the app once during that time. I honestly suspect something shady is going on behind the scenes, there's no other reason an app I never opened should use five times more battery than apps I use constantly. Don't download this and if you have, consider uninstalling.
Can not hear my messages! I've used this app for months with my coworkers as walkie-talkie. Within the last month I've had so many issues. I can no longer hear messages sent unless I connect my Bluetooth headphones and insert them into my ears. I cannot figure out why I cannot get to play the messages on speakerphone mode. So frustrated. I even paid for the premium subscription. Hoping that would fix the issue and it has not. Super disappointed.
This used to be a 5 star app. The longer I've used it the worse it's gotten. I get notifications then I go in and they aren't there. Sometimes closing the app helps, sometimes not. Sometimes things send, sometimes not. It's completely unreliable at this point. I pay for this app but only to be able to hear my dead fathers voice messages, otherwise I would be gone.
I love using Voxer - much preferred to texting and so much easier to communicate with people. However, the app can be pretty glitchy. Usually 1/10 messages I send cannot be heard by the people I send it to, or gets majorly cut off. Notifications are also a problem: they don't usually get "marked as read" properly when opening a thread, and friends who use it say they sometimes aren't notified when receiving new messages.
This is a very buggy application. I use it on android and it randomly pulls down my notifications when I hold the phone up to my ear (without touching my ear), will say I still have messages unread or unheard when I've seen everything. You can't search through old messages, so if you need any of the information you get in a Voxer message save it somewhere that can be found quickly. Notifications haven't been working for 2 weeks now so I never know when I get new messages. Don't recommend at all.
Use app to keep in touch with clients. Even though I have the notification service turned on, the app will crash several times a day and I won't receive notification of a new message. Will also force close when I try to open it and manually check for messages. Only occasionally receives emails of new messages, which would help with the missed notifications, but because it doesn't work, almost completely useless.
Really clunky, terrible aesthetics (layout, emojis, etc.), no API available so nothing will integrate with it. Always says you have new messages when you don't and doesn't tell you when you do. No video function. You cant keep recording a message and exit out of the app so if you need to read something off your phone into a message, you cant. Nor can you turn your screen off so you might be recording a long message and bump the screen and it'll stop recording and you won't know. Oh, and good luck if you try to use the desktop version... Seems like no love went into this app at all. Whatsapp is better in every way except that you can listen to messages at 2x, 3x, or 4x speed. Truly the only feature that makes it worth having.
I have had vox messaging for a couple of years and this past weekend, it decided to do something to stupid! At first it was saying that I had a certain amount of unheard messages, but I listened to all of them. Then I was receiving notifications stating that friends were leaving me messages, but when I go to open, there is nothing there and it gives me the notification stating that there is an error loading messages. Vox deleted all of my messages, my profile and contacts, none of which is nowhere to be found! I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!
I use it a lot to talk to two of my best friends. That's the only reason I use it. It's glitchy, settings change themselves randomly, I currently can't.pit photos on because it says I need to change a setting to allow access to storage. That setting has been enabled since day 1. Sometimes it deletes whole conversations, sometimes it decides to not show or play audios, sometimes it crashes. Absolute nightmare of an app.
This app is so confusing. When I try to scroll back to the posts from previous days, it seems to resist me. Then, all of a sudden it JUMPS way back. I accidentally hit the walkie-talkie button and record myself frequently. This app will NOT ALLOW me to the accidental recordings because I have the FREE version!! I cannot seem to rewind the voice recordings of others. I have to return to the beginning to re-listen to a few words I missed. I joined a coaching grp that uses it. So I still have it
2 complaints. I'm not sure why you can't fast forward or rewind. it's just all or nothing and if you close the app to listen later, you have to starr listening from the very beginning. My other issue is that if you don't have the best cell signal, your message will let not record and send, even if it appears to be working. This app is great when it works, but please fix these 2 things.
I've used this app for a few years to keep in touch with friends and family in different time zones. It's always been great but lately since the last update I can't listen to messages using my headphones and I can't tell if my leaving messages using my headphones still works or not. The app lately freaks out with audio. Audio oscillates between my phone's speaker and quieter call volume it will not connect to my headphones (Bluetooth or with a cord) anymore. Please fix! 🙏
Update: December 3rd 2018. Ever since the latest "bug fixes" have been in place I've been having nothing but trouble again. Other people that use the app along with me have been experiencing the same issues where messages either will not play at all or will only partially play. Lately Voxer is getting pointless as it is becoming unusable. I run a S7, a friend runs a brand new Motorola, and another runs a crApple of some sort. Between us, we have had nothing but issues so it cant be an issue with the phones. Half the time only a portion of the message will come through. Messages will suddenly appear a few days after being sent, or it says the message was sent but never was. We have tried on and off Wi-Fi, restarted the phone, restarted the app, deleted and reinstalled the app, as previously stated one even got a new phone. Nothing seems to work. I sent a message in 2015 and you said you'd be working on the bugs. I've seen others are having the same issue with the same reply, you are working on it. It takes three years to work on it?
There's just some minor things about this app that really bugs me. First of all, it will NOT let go of the audio if you listen to any conversation OR if you are in the app and someone starts talking in a group chat you are part of. I have to exit out of the app and use the phone app for a split second, hang up and then I can use other apps like YouTube as normal. So frustrating. Also, if someone uploads a picture, why can't I pinch/zoom on the Android version? Works fine on the iOS version.
VOXER wouldn't let me cancel subscription, and they charged my card even though I reached out in an email. Google Play Store is malfunctioning and not allowing me to manage my subscriptions. I signed up for a free trial, thinking that I could cancel the subscription before they charged my card if I didn't end up liking it. News flash, it didn't have enough perks for me to keep it as Pro, the free version was enough for me. I used to boast this app as a good way to communicate, now I hate it.
Looks like they erased my last bad review, so I'll go ahead and make another. App is trash, my family insists on using it, but it NEVER works right. Been forced to use it for years and the same issues from years ago still exist. Messages and pics won't send at least 50% of the time, with no reason given. Why would I buy a premium version? Does it work any more reliably? Highly doubt it. Stay away! Especially if timely messages are important to you.
There's really nothing that this app offers which other messaging apps don't with the exception of live walkie talkie. I used it specifically for live walkie talkie with my kid and its really annoying. The notification sound is very intrusive and can't be changed, multiple notifications mean multiple disturbances as it can't be set up to give you only one, you need to provide both an email and a phone number to set it up and you will be spammed. The app itself will spam you with its own notifications that aren't related to anything important with the exception, possibility, of wanting you to buy a subscription. Simply put, if your'e looking for a walkie talkie app for you and your kid, or for a kid at heart adult, find something that isn't this one, once you install it on your kids device and it works, its going to be hard to uninstall without disappointing them, and then you're left being annoyed with something you didn't want while other apps do the same thing and aren't even slightly annoying. ...And you WILL be spammed, you WILL be annoyed. If you're an employer that's using this, don't be cheap, get real radios opposed to requiring people to download this annoyance.
