So here's my honest take on What Street?. I've tested a bunch of navigation apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The automatic street name announcements are really handy, especially for things like driving or biking where you can't always look at your phone. And the voice could be a bit better, but it gets the job done. Compared to other apps, I'd say it's a bit more basic, but sometimes simple is better. It's free to use too, which is nice. Personally, I'd recommend giving it a try if you need a simple way to always know your location.

Pros

  • Automatic street name announcements are super useful
  • Works even with your phone locked or screen off
  • Free to use, no paid features to unlock
  • Simple to use, doesn't have a steep learning curve
  • Seems pretty accurate in identifying street names

Cons

  • Voice for street name announcements can get a bit annoying
  • Doesn't have a ton of advanced features like some other navigation apps
  • Could use some improvements to the overall user experience
  • May not be as robust as paid navigation apps in certain situations

Description

Been using What Street? for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that tells you the name of the street you’re on. Pretty solid if you’re into navigation and location-based stuff.

Here’s what you do: you just open the app and it’ll automatically announce the street name. There’s also a feature where you can set it to read out the street names while you’re driving, which is pretty cool. And it works even if your phone’s screen is locked – just keep it in your pocket and it’ll keep you updated.

Look, if you’re the kind of person who gets lost a lot or needs to keep track of where you are, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the voice can get a little annoying after a while – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want a simple way to always know where you are.

Great app. Just a few tweaks needed. When it's displaying the Google Map, there isn't a facility for the Map to follow your icon. So you're forever having to zoom...

would like this app better if it would name the cross street behind you and in front of you

Wouldn't mind having my money back. Just keeps crashing.
