I between a 2 and a 3 for this app.. it has a great macro tracker and the basic recipes are good. I especially like that you can scale the. Up or down easily. The meal prep planner and shopping list works great when using the apps recipes. The down side.. The food search is extremely limited if you eat anything besides the app recipes. DONT even try to add your own recipe or meal. It's worse than terriblly clunky and frustrating. Its a useful app Falls very short in a few areas.
Reviews for Wholesome Yum
← Back to Wholesome YumEasy to use, sooo maaannnyyy recipes you can't go through them all. You can print most of them(I like that feature only for the fact that I can put it on my book stand and read the recipe as I prepare it) I like looking up new recipes for my family that are healthier choices. The best part of this is all these recipes have been tested before being put out.
Like this app, it has a few minor set backs like taking some time to load the grocery list. I would like to be able to view the menu for the week all at once. I tend to switch back from the family to single person view and have noticed that sometimes the menu is different. I would like to see it be the same as sometimes I cook for just myself and other times fir my kids if I feel they would like it.
Have been using this app for about 3 weeks and so far it has been so useful. It has made me get organised and less stressed with cooking keto friendly meals that my husband can enjoy too. I am in the UK so there are lots of items I will have to add but the shopping list is perfect. Only tweak I would like is to not have set quantity adjustments. For example a recipe is for 6. I want it for 4 but I can only do 1/2 recipe quantity so it is a meal for three. Love it otherwise ❤️
Couldn't get the signup process to complete so I finally gave up after trying 4 to 5 times.
Frustrating!! I'm using the free version and trying to add an Adkins shake. So I go look under beverages and surprise, there's no search bar! So I start scrolling and scrolling AND scrolling only to discover this list is not even in alphabetical order! I've spent half an hour looking for the one thing I drank this morning. If I'm meant to do this for each and every item I consume throughout the day Imma spend more time entering things on this app than actually eating. What the heck?!?!
I do think this app is fantastic. They are working to improve it and add features all the time so it improves as you get more familiar with it, etc. It is limiting in regards to the recipes you find, they are all from Wholesome Yum and they are delicious but if you want to add your own recipes you can, it's just a process and then it's there for you always. I love that it makes a grocery list for you as I am an empty nester and have struggled with learning how much I really need to buy for 2 people. This has helped. I love that it gives you meal prep advice because I'm someone who is most successful sticking to my macros when I am prepared. What I don't love is the price. I paid for it for a year and I will use it but I do feel like the price is excessively high when you can grab any number of macro tracker apps for free. Will they make grocery lists and meal plan advice for you? No they won't but they absolutely are an option and even the most mentioned alternative app that is pay is half the price for an annual subscription. I'd have given 5 stars but the pricing is a bit much, that said, I do love this app, I do love what it can do for me and for that reason i kept it for the year to see how much more it helps than the other paid app I've been using. At this point, not sure I feel this is entirely worth the extra cost. I guess after a year I'll have to decide. As to people feeling they can't get assistance when they reach out, I've never experiences that and have gotten kind, polite and timely assistance anytime I've needed it.
I was a little hesitant about "joining" or signing up for the app. First I got my feet a little wet and purchased the Plus membership but couldn't use the meal plan, I needed to upgrade. I did like the recipes and was struggling with planning meals out for a month or two in advance. So I really wanted that feature. So I jumped all in. The meal plans are really good, and I keep most of the meal plan provided but it's so easy to change the plan per meal. I wish I could get meal plans further out.
Very disappointed. First, all I want are recipes - I really don't need it for anything else; too much set-up/sign-in just to get that. Worse, it's set up for net carbs only, and won't let me use my doctor-approved total instead. Even more disappointing: their own branded ingredients (and why I don't bother with Atkins cookbooks anymore). I've gotten some great recipes off the website which is why this is such a letdown.
So when you cook something and you don't have everything from the recipe given or store bought item there's no other option to select. Like I make an omlete and only had eggs cheese and mushrooms. There's no selection for that. Just have to select each item and guess the amount. Other apps give you more options to select how you cook things
They charged me 105.55 for 3 quarters. Never used. Did not realize i signed up. I thought I cancelled ,impossible to cancel. no chat or contact help. DO NOT subscribe. You will never be able to quit. I've been trying to cancel for 3 hours now, The app itself is full of glitches and difficult to navigate. BEWARE! I don't leave bad reviews, but this app is a rip off scheme designed to take your dollars and not be accountable. 4 am I'm going to try to cancel one more time. I understand most things can be handled online but No phone contact # is always a bad sign.
This app is very flexible and efficient at tracking macros. There is a wide variety of food items in the database and you can add your own. Although, it seems that adding foods with multiple ingredients is broken. I can ad one ingredient, but no more. Not a big issue though. Might be because I am not using premium subscription. Premium is too cost prohibitive to just sample the functionality. I'd love it if they provided a week free on premium.
products are too expensive and there's no way to get help once an order is placed. They have an email form but they send a form letter telling you how busy they are. There's zero customer service help. With the exorbitant prices you know they can afford to hire customer service help. Typical business that wants your money but couldn't care less about you once they get your money. Horrible way to run a business.
I'm absolutely in love with the Android app!!! It's so easy to use to make your weekly meal plan, you can favorite recipes, move them around to whichever day fits your needs, delete and replace with another recipe, it's super easy to use! I love that, as you scroll, it moves up/down between the days, so you don't have to click back a lot. Most of the ingredients are highlighted in the recipe to where they can be purchased, the experience is just very very seamless. In love with it so far!
This app makes the process of starting the keto/low carb lifestyle so much easier. I don't feel overwhelmed. The setup is easy to follow and walks you through each step describing additional information about each. The recipes are AMAZING! Just made a keto cheesecake and my husband (who don't need keto... wink wink) destroyed it! I highly recommend anyone wanting to start, give it a try, you won't regret it! Also, I love the free printouts and the option to download them.
Great app to keep track of what you eat. Granted, it doesn't list every brand or food type. But, you could improvise with finding foods that come close. Also...It really could use a "restaurant food" classification. I had dinner out with a friend and I had to improvise on trying to count the kind of (steak) sandwich I had. (And I only ate a 1/2 of one at that!) Thanks, though. It's helping me quite a bit!
I really really want to love this app. I think it will really come in handy for tracking and meal planning. My big complaint is I have paid for the annual subscription to the premium, but everytime I go out of the app and go back in later to look at the weekly meal plan it says I'm not subscribed. I literally have restart my phone everytime for it to register that I have a subscription. Edit: I contacted support and they emailed me quite fast and this issue seems to be resolved for me!
Best to use if not customizing foods: This is a great app to use if you ONLY cooked from Maya's meal plans. I instantly had issues when I tried to add a keto coffee recipe. There is no database for me to pull nutrient info from and I was expected to add the macro info for the whole recipe in one go. For the price (I signed up for a year, which is still $50 total), customizing foods should be possible and easy. *However, if you plan to ONLY cook from Maya's recipes, this is the app for you.
I wish they had a free trial so I could've realized that this app wouldn't be for me. Some things I noticed and didn't like: the meal plan generated by the app didn't provide breakfast even though I never made such a selection, I couldn't substitute ingredients within the recipe for other comparable ones, there's no way to create a new food product (only a recipe) making it harder and taking longer to accomplish logging a food. And if there is a way to do these things, it isn't clear.
I really like this app compared to a couple others I tried that were the same yearly price which is reasonable for all you can do. I like the option to add my favorite recipes and change serving sizes. Your recipes are good though. Unlike a lot of meal plans I like that each week the plans you include have options of using left overs. What I hope you can fix is when I add my own recipe it won't let me go back in and change the serving size. Since I can't edit this I have to go in and keep adding how many of each broccoli cheese ball I made. I don't like is the constant ads to get me to buy other ebooks of recipes. I think those prices are too high. You advertise a savings on products which I can find cheaper such as the almond flour and monk sugar for almost half of the price that is advertised as cheaper at my Kroger's or Walmart. I paid just under 6 for each item for the same amount.
