Reviews for Wise: International Transfers

← Back to Wise: International Transfers

I have been using Wise for several months now and I am very pleased with how intuitive and responsive it is. I look up exchange rates quickly and easily and I have been able to pay for things in local currency with no issue at all. The security is very high, as I learned, since some of my US paperwork was not fully up to date and I had to correct things to become approved! That has also given me confidence in the platform.

overall the app is great, but a key feature for me is to add a photo of the receipt to a card transaction. that feature mostly always fails via photo mode and even when I take the photo with another app it doesn't always work flawlessly. I've been in touch with CS multiple times about this and supposedly it's being worked on. I doubt that I'm the only one with that issue, as I could consistently replicate it on my S22 nor on my Xiaomi XT 14 Pro

I like wise very much, simple, clean and customer support for me has been great. I think my only complaint is that on a business account we are limited to just 3 virtual cards. I think they need to rethink this, especially with the number of services/SaaS on the market which most businesses need to at least try. Virtual debit cards let you control spending for things you may not want to continue beyond a trial period from one single place. This is something revolut offer and it's a huge help.

there was no way for me to orient myself within the site. No homepage. The first page was set for adding money to my USD account. Even though I did not want to transfer money to my USD account somehow it happened. there was no confirmation screen showing me what action would be taken and if I wanted to do it like there is in almost every other application. I wanted to Check whether a specific bank in Germany was in the Wise environment. trying to send money to this account instead sent it to me

I gave it an extra star because wise is great but this app doesn't do certain things that you have to go to the website for. It doesn't make this clear either so you're left wondering if a transfer was scheduled correctly but if you go to their website on a desktop browser you can do what you need with regards to picking a transfer to/from for scheduling a send.

Even though it's my go-to method of transferring money, Canadian accounts are terrible with this app. Not only do they get disconnected from wise (reenter bank login info) every 2 weeks or so, but the reconnect methods are inconsistent. It'll take 10-60 minutes to reconnect. Plaid is not great and the secondary methods of reconnecting are just as horrible.

The app works fine. It's just that if you send money, they charge their own fee and tell you that you'll receive the remaining amount. However, they use intermediary banks, and these banks also charge fees. They have no control over that and don't inform you how much it will be. In my case, the intermediary bank fees were actually higher than Wise's fees, making the transfer cost almost the same as doing an international wire transfer with Chase. I find this quit

Consistent bad experience from a few months to date. it used to be fast and reliable. a mere 100 dollars transfer is taking 4 days, they have an excuse that the previous transfer that happened over a week ago needs to clear first, or that I have to have enough money in the bank which I do.. Called for support 2 times to long hold times and no answer. Too bad, it used to love wise a lot, they lost another customer here, not using it again.

I hate how the app wants to verify every time you want to send large amounts. so just use a debit or cc it will be quicker than having to jump through a bunch of hoops to verify. verify once and be done with it. I don't want to have to pause my transfer because you want to make sure it's me. I might start using another service instead. update: when you ask for a bank statement that's where I draw the line. My expenses are none of your business. and I have a federally approved ID should be good.

Wise has lower fees than banks and works good sometimes, but when there's an issue customer service is not very helpful.I was consistently told that the problem was on my end and that I should uninstall, reinstall, use different device/browser. Even after I did all of these things and demonstrated that the problem existed independent of my device/browser, etc. I was continuously told to do the same thing over and over again until finally it was escalated and the issue was magically resolved.

Sending money is difficult. Trying different options to get the fastest delivery option got my delivery method locked. When trying to reach an agent by phone there's a long wait time and only been successful at even getting a call back one time. Speaking to an agent through chat and they tell you they can't help because it's up to the specialized agent when they'll be able to fix your account. p.s. I am "not eligible" to close my account. B.s.

Very negative experience. I tried to deposit multiple times US dollars in my new Wise account, using debit and credit cards. Many failed attempts. Now there is still $0 balance in my Wise account while still waiting for 3 "pending deposits" that have already been withdrawn from my Chase accounts. Very dissapointed. I do not know what to do.

This app is anything but easy. You can't even recieve money without putting 20 dollars into it yourself. And once you do there's no way to get it back. It took 10 tries just to get the verification to work, only to have to wait 5 days for my account to verify. Then, it canceled the money transfer I waited all that time for. Absolute waste of my time and money. Very disappointed.

I initiated a transfer and received an in-app error that the transfer had failed. So, I tried again and received the same error message. Later, I saw that both transfers had actually gone through - sending the amount twice - and even though I only had enough cash in my Wise account to cover one of them, Wise without my consent withdraw additional funds from my linked bank account. I contacted support and so far they have not resolved the issue. Be warned! Will update if resolution occurs.

the app does not recognize the recipient's address even though I've been using it for 3 years. technical support has not been able to resolve the problem. they have not sent update emails as they promised. other recipients in other countries are still working properly. this recipient transfer has been a complete failure and Tech Support also has been a complete failure.

Normally Wise is a great app. As someone living abroad, the transfer times are quick and easy and I never have to be stressed about paying any bills but recently have had loads of issues with my transfers coming on time. At one point, even going overdue on when my rent was due. I wish Wise was quicker sometimes. Its a shame because most of the time it works great but with it making me miss payments on things, it's hard to trust it

Wise used to work wonderfully and I rated it accordingly. Now it seldom works as advertised. Sometimes it works and other times it takes days! You cannot rely on it. Currently I have three transactions in progess. Wise has taken the money from my bank account but no delivered it. Has been over two days. Even a small transfer into my own account hasn't happened. No additional information or update has been provided. And good luck getting help, customer service is impossible to find. Not good.

Nothing about this app works. They loose money. Hold payments. Constantly demanding documents and facial recognition. Support isn't able to address any problems. Transactions disappear. Closed my account with no explanation. Then opened it again, no explanation. Issued a debt card, then canceled it before I could even use it. Then there is rhe data breach... Constant issues!

fairly easy to use, good way to send money to other people, and the rates aren't bad. sometimes I'm frustrated with how many times the app will tell me my transfer might take a few days because my money hasn't posted to the Wise account. so I had to link 2 of my accounts and switch back and forth on which one to use to transfer the money the fastest.

It worked great until there was a problem. It was fast, smooth, cheap. Then I switched bank accounts, and my new bank blocked the transfer, even though wise sent the funds. Leaving me owing wise $500. That was on my bank, not wise, but then I tried to pay wise the $500. Unfortunately there is not enough space in these reviews to go into detail, but nobody I could reach by phone could do anything at all. It wasn't until a month after my balance was sent to collections that they told me it was.
