I've been using Wyze cameras since they started up. Still cheaper than most but very unreliable. Seems like every time I need to see a camera there are connection issues or events that won't play. I used to be able to keep a camera view on my Amazon Echo for hours for security but now they shut off after a few minutes and you have to keep telling Alexa to show it over and over. When I get an event notification and touch to see the event it's a 50/50 shot I'll get the live view or the event.
Reviews for Wyze - Make Your Home Smarter
← Back to Wyze - Make Your Home SmarterCustomer service Sucks,!!!! Long, Long wait times,, and when you do get someone chances are great they can't help you with the cameras so they refer you to a technician that you have to wait on to get back intouch with you via email. YOU DON'T GET TO TALK TO THEM,!!!!!!!!!!! AND THE PROBBLEM RARELY GETS FIXED,! Piture quality is extremely poor, especially when you zoom in. Picture will say vehicle instead of a person who has just walked into view (vehicle is parked and hasn't moved in hours)
The last two updates, and especially the most recent, have made the app almost unusable. Major events occur within the detection zone but aren't captured at all. Videos can no longer be recorded from playback (only a single .png file can be saved). The app is also very slow and buggy. I still like the hardware, but this app is awful. update: one year later, the app is barely usable now. videos don't load and events are mostly misidentified. people are generally identified as vehicles, etc
Your recent update sucks. You took away the ability to rewind and review from any particular point, directly from the live feed. Now, I can only review recent events and nothing further. Before, I could go back, search and review from any time period. The one main reason I loved about the cameras. Now I can't stand them. Time to find another brand.
The events tab is now restricted to approx 3 hours making it useless. I can no longer look for an event that happened while I was away or during the night. Time to find a camera that actually saves events. I never said anything about the length of the videos and I've never had a subscription. You've eliminated the events saved to less then 3 hours. Nice try to divert from the issue.
If you enjoy the constant frustration of lost connection, lost video, failed recording or seeing "no video available at this time" after installing a new memory card that was recommended for high deff recording, then get this garbage. If you want something that actually works, looks elsewhere. So disappointing because they started out good. Now they're just trash.
I do not like this version. I used to be able to save events, save ALERT zones, and play back any minute of the past two weeks. Now to do any of that, I need a $10/month subscription. The old version got five stats from me, but I'm being very generous giving the current version two. (Oh, and the upgrade that wasn't supposed to touch my settings? Yeah, it wiped them clean.) Update:I found the settings for zones, etc. But it's exactly where I looked before. Still upset about losing settings.
It was great until I got a new phone and the app is suddenly completely useless. Update: it turns out that Wyze cannot be currently used with Android 16, and there is no timeline provided (to me, at least) for when this might change. If you have a newer phone, I guess just choose a different system if you want to be able to actually use it. Further update: I'm now being told conflicting information about whether 16 is supported or not, so additional problem of who is telling the actual truth.
I received Wyze as a gift after my wife had a baby. At first, we were happy with the product. However, once we started using it at night while the baby was sleeping, it began disconnecting repeatedly. This has happened every single night for months, with disconnection times ranging anywhere from 5 minutes to over 30 minutes. I looked into the error codes and followed every troubleshooting step provided by Wyze Support, but nothing resolved the issue. Won't be returning to Wyze..
They changed the app so when you view the camera individually 66% of the space is for useless features, thay would better off being hidden. you may not be able to expand the frame of the video in portrait mode, but get rid of all those features underneath the video, such as viewing events from that screen. leave it blank, and move the events to the events section only so there's no information overload. the centerpiece of the video, is the video. Get all the other options out if there.
They are great when they work properly. Out of the 3 that I have, the wireless doorbell camera is the only one that doesn't give me issues. The wired Pro V3 (I think) will no longer recognize our wifi network and the newest one, that we have only had a few months it's battery operated, keeps going offline. Plus finding batteries for that one is like finding a needle in a haystack. I can't find them.
Great..when it works. I have 8 cameras, all working fine until the last update. This is consistent with most of your recent reviews. Loading camera spins and never connects until I restart camera. Buffers. All day long. This obviously not a ME problem, but a problem with your last update. Fix it please and roll back until you do. Frustrating. UPDATE: I did as recommended and logged out of account and logged back in. Better Working okay BUT 3-5 load okay fine, but many still hang up.
Worked okay for a while, then we all stopped getting notifications. The camera still works, but no one can get notifications. I went through all the troubleshooting steps. I scoured the internet and found many more people having the same issue. So it's pretty useless now. *update - they sent me an article with troubleshooting steps, but I've already done that. The fact that it's multiple phones in my household not getting the notifications tells me the problem is on their end, not mine.
Notifications rarely work and are frustratingly unreliable. There is no Rhyme or Reason as to when they work or don't. A package was just delivered to my front porch today, I did not receive a notification. However, when I went to retrieve the package, I got almost an instantaneous notification. My wife has an iPhone and does not share this experience, so I believe it is an issue isolated to Android devices. Unfortunate, because I just bought two additional cameras for outdoor surveillance.
The app seems to be working better, but I'm still having issues with cameras not recording events, and oftentimes when I open the app, the cameras don't want to load unless I go in and force stop it and clear the cache. I've also had a couple of issues with my locks connecting. Hopefully, this stuff was fixed in the most recent update. As a whole, I still love your company and its products.
Edit: if on the free plan, you will not be getting event notifications. You're supposed to, but you won't. The events will continue to get created and stored in history. The Wyze support will tell you how sorry they are that their app doesn't function and you're having a bad experience. The end. --- Ok app, but cameras repeatedly disconnect on their own and unable to see from the app or reconnect when away, defeating the purpose of buying them.
Had wyze over 3 years now, mostly a good experience. As of late, tho, it's been frustrating, to say the least. I've paid for a mesh system I didn't need, I'm locked into faster internet speed plan from my ISP I was told would fix it, I've bought all new expensive high endurance sd cards that solved nothing, and the list goes on. Basically, I'm way too invested into wyze to throw it all away and start over with another company and to frustrated with all the bugs to even bother turning them on.
I'm still sticking with Wyze for now, but their big app update change was a downgrade. As others have stated with the notification sounds, automation, and I'll add responsiveness. Automation have been hit and miss anymore. Sometimes it recognizes I'm near home, other times it doesn't is one example. It's slow all around from detection, notifications, and basic app loading.
Definitely not what it once was. We have had Wyze for years. Recently, I have to completly factory reset multiple cameras to get them to come back online. It is time-consuming and frustrating, to say the least. Not sure what changed or if it is to cause customers to buy new cameras/ purchase an upgrade/ package. Disappointed, and have to spend time and money on a new camera system. I do not recommend.
I've had Wyze cameras for years & I used to recommend them to everyone. I do not anymore because the quality has gone down so much. The cameras constantly disconnect, events don't register (even though the camera moves with the movement, but still doesn't register as an event), &one has started clicking at night when it never did before (turning off night vision solved it). I hate the idea of going to another company when I've invested so much in so many cameras, but Wyze is unreliable now.
