I like xumo, but the reason i gave three stars is because after you have watched it for a while the picture of the show you are watching goes away, the audio portion stays on, and you have an ad showing and it stays there. This is very frustrating. I understand it's free, but so are other apps that actually allows you to watch as long as you want. This needs to be fixed. I will be uninstalling this if not fixed. I'd hate to do that because i like a lot of the programs they have.
Reviews for Xumo Play: Stream TV & Movies
← Back to Xumo Play: Stream TV & MoviesIt does not allow true access to streaming networks as advertised, just a very limited selection of shows from each of them. Will not allow searching for a desired show within a network. Live TV is decent, and I'm sure some of the content is good. App works smoothly for me. Just an overall letdown by deceptive claims.
The Britbox Mysteries channel does not let you know what you are watching. Other free apps that has the Britbox Mysteries channel lets you know what you are watching. There is no way to get out of a movie or TV show. I had to do a close all in order to get out and reopen the app to be able to view other options and that is too much of a hassel. Please fix the issues.
XUMO provides good service with the exception of commercial ads which has its volume at the top range of loud. Despite this issue having been reported many times by other users, XUMO has not address or correct this issue. Also, commercial ads vary in time from about 45 second to as long as 3.5 minutes while a movie is being viewed. Further, if Fox News tv or Fox News were added to its channel listings this would be more noteworthy. Therefore, a rating of 3 stars is assigned.
Doesn't cast for more than a few minutes. In the app no volume control. I did the usual uninstall force stop clear the cache nothing helped. Tried to cast from the tv channel itself. That had volume control do I could turn off the sound for the ridiculous amount of commercials. More commercials than show content. That 3 wouldn't cast at all or for a short bit. It is ashame as it has many cooking channels which is what I wanted. Sadly it will get uninstalled unless a remedy is posted shortly.
The ap itself works fine, good streaming, easy to use and search the interface etc... but the content sucks. There are a few old titles that are fairly decent but the vast majority of what you find here is just trash. The best quality stuff would be movies from the Asylum. The same studio that brought you the Sharknado movies, if that gives you an idea of what is to be found on this ap. The quality of the content goes down from there.
Horrible horrible app!!!!!! Their search tool is useless. If you search for a movie listed on their menu, it gives you no result. If you lose your connection there is no continue watching option. If you look movie by movie you may never find the movie you where watching. Somehow movies just seem to disappear from their menu when you want to return to them. This app will piss-you-off. Uninstall it. Forget it. There are so many other TV apps that do not offer such poor service.
Absolutely trash! Loading takes forever, lots of ads and randomly just starts up a different movie. Then you have to find your movie again and rewatch the ads. On top of that there doesn't seem to be a search bar. Like what? No search bar. What kind of app is this?! 6 times and counting has this app directed me to a different movie while trying to watch just one single movie. Removing this app, extremely frustrating! Works just as horrible on TV as it does mobile app.
This is kinda sucks tbh. I was watching a movie and got a call so obviously I answered and after the conversation was over, I went back to my movie. But it had started all the way back over. And even then I had to watch ads to even start the movie over. And while the last ad was still going, the movie started playing in the background. But the ad remained on the screen and didn't even give me the option to click out of it for a few minutes. Def gonna delete this nonsense.
This app is fine enough, but there is one glaring issue that I've been having and I'm starting to get fed up. When you watch episodes of a show and an ad comes on, one the ad has concluded, it throws you into a different episode than the one you were watching. Obviously I don't mind the ads, otherwise why would I be using the app; but come on why can't it even stay on the episode I was watching? This seems like something that should've been fixed WAY before releasing the app to app stores.
This came preinstalled on a Samsung TV. Channels are growing and there are many that can interest anyone. What I like, aside from some of the channels you may not otherwise find, is the Program Guide so you can glimpse into what's playing on each channel and when & how long that show lasts. It's a good addition to local over the air broadcast TV and cable. Also, they have music channels of all sorts!
When it works, it's great. However, since the takeover and change from XUMO to XUMO Play it fails to load half the time. Either a blank screen or error codes. Force stop and restarting usually gets it working, but you shouldn't have to do that every time I want to use the app. Even the support pages do not allow me to upload screen shots which is a requirement to submitting a service ticket, so that can't be done either...
Not my favorite streaming method and very hard to navigate on a mobile phone (no search option and only the ability to add channels to favorites). Also when the show comes back from a commercial break there's a 50% chance that it returns you to earlier in the show or the next episode. Thankfully there's only 1 series I couldn't find elsewhere so once watched I can uninstall. I didn't use the live tv experience so that may be better.
Potential but lacks very basic but important features. Tons of free content with minimal ad interruptions. Only app that has all the seasons of a show I wanted to binge. But this service has no search feature, no way to favorite a show, no way to just pick up where you left off on a show, and the screen times out very fast when you navigate the menu or even when you pause whatever you had playing. Also, no user sign-in which also means no cross-device sync with show/movie progress.
One of the best things about Xumo Play is that it's free, but so are a lot of other TV apps and they rarely give me as many problems as Xumo Play. For starters this app rarely updates, the last time was about 3 months ago and that was the last time it was working properly, as in no freezes, skips, or audio rewinds out of nowhere. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling before the problems have yet to go away.
Yeah there's a lot of stuff to watch but no search options. You have to scroll through every movie or TV show until you find something to watch. There's no watchlist so when you do find something there's no way to save it unless you write it down or remember it. It would also be nice to be able to start watching where you left off. I know it's free and maybe I shouldn't complain but Tubi, Pluto, Plex, Sling, and others are free too but have the options I mentioned.
The navigation experience is HORRIBLE. Charter thinks this service is going to replace the standard cable boxes? Ha! You can't jump directly to a specific channel (like you can on a cable box). You can't do a search for specific TV or movie titles, like you can on other apps. It's a headache trying to find something specific, especially if you know what time a particular live show is supposed to be on, but can't go to that channel directly.
I really love the variety of programs they provide, but their ads are ridiculous. I know ads are what allow them to provide free content, but the number of ads they have is far more frequent than other services. In addition, they will also have the same ad repeat 3 or 4 times in a row. Ads don't do any good if you're annoying and pissing off the people watching them. So, as much as I like the variety of options, I can only watch Xumo for a very short time before I get fed up & turn it off.
I like being able to watch shows I can't find elsewhere, but whenever an ad plays, it kicks me out of the episode I was watching and begins playing the next and I have to get out of the video player, go back to the menu, select the episode I had been watching, and manually try to find where I was in the episode. This is very inconvenient and significantly impedes the functionality of the app, which is why I have given it three stars. I would very much appreciate it if this bug was fixed.
This app has improved greatly since my first review. There is one small issue In the small window player in the listings though. How do you know how much time is left on the program or movie you're currently watching? In the listing, it says "Now Playing" at the top in blue, which means there's no room at the bottom to show how much time is left, like it says in all the other listings. My suggestion- remove "Now Playing" and make the name of only that one listing blue instead.
