Asked for a review right after the intro but before I found out it's only a 3 day trial. This app offers nothing new that I can't already do for free online.
Reviews for YarnPal - Crochet for Beginner
← Back to YarnPal - Crochet for BeginnerAI patterns and paywall. Patterns do not work up as shown and I am an experienced crocheter not a beginner. Only free for 2 days and then they want money.
I haven't gotten all the way into this yet but if it's free to use for basics at least, then its a full 5 stars for me. I've just gotten "hooked" on crochet LOL
I really wish there was a search feature and in the ad I saw for it, it showed a photo feature which it doesn't have and that is a little upsetting but what can ya do. Otherwise it's a good app
The patterns are horrible, they are either wrong or missing steps. There arent that many patterns for the cost of the membership.
Fabulous idea but ai pattern generation only gives you an image. not the pattern to make the image. If this was fixed and the images you created came with patterns id pay for the year up front no issues every single year.
I think this is a great app, but it would also be a good idea if there were a left-handed mode/option. People with medical disabilities, along with being left-handed, find learning and understanding difficult.
asked for a review before I even had the chance to look at patterns. now that I have looked, it's mostly baby clothes, stuffed animals, and granny squares. not my kind of projects, but if you like them, you should be able to find a pattern you like.
this is really an amazing app it helps beginners and intermediate level crocheters and knitters learn how to do things that would take forever to find online even though the AI chatbot that helps with crocheting can't display pictures yet it is still very good and it's descriptive ability on how to do things step by step if I wasn't so broke I would buy the subscription
It's all AI images and I think most of the patterns were made up by AI too so they don't actually work. This is incredibly deceitful as they are essentially lying about the project results and frustrating when there are so many talented creators and patterns out there that they could have paid to include seeing as this app costs money to use.
Ad is very misleading, I don't know how they are aloud to put that up as it isn't how they app works at all. You can't take any pictures nor does it generate patterns from pictures you take. Just an AI grab for money, don't waste your time or space on your phone.
what is the actual cost? the start page says $5.49/month in the box and then says $5.49/week underneath it. and 3 days isn't long enough for a trial before you're able to decide if you want to buy time. why not a week? why so little time? seems like a scam. disappointed, because I do want to try, but not if I don't know the cost and I only get 3 days to try it.
I enjoy working with the tutorials on projects so I can get it done. update,I gave this app 5 stars in the beginning, but I have learned that it isn't very helpful to me because it doesn't tell you how many chains are needed at the beginning of each round/row which I know are necessary. the must be a beginning turning chain to start the next round/row with in order to keep your rows even. there's another thing I found is that there should be a pattern page that one can refer to for added help.
AI and tech corporate greed again prevails to ruin something that could have been a good thing. A pay wall as soon as you open the app after downloading. AI, you're not getting my card info. I am an advanced level crocheter. I looked through the pattern for the 8 point star. They forgot that you have to chain before you start another round/row. Or maybe, assuming, if I paid I'll get the full pattern guide. Stick with books, Etsy, and YT. A waste of space on your device.
great idea. unfortunately, the patterns don't work. they slip between US and UK terminology and it's not clear which they refer to. the pattern generator is just an AI image generator. it says its free but you only get 3 days, then it's £3.59 a week. not a very good app at all.
Not a useful app at all. some of the images of the "finished project" look AI generated and some of the instructions make absolutely no sense at all, for example, for a ghost coaster, "foundation: ch 2, row 1: sc into 2nd chain from hook, turn - 1sc" This makes absolutely no sense. it's definitely not worth the weekly subscription fee after the 3 day trial.
Saw an ad to snap a photo of anything, and it creates a pattern instantly of that real-life thing. Made me click instantly. How cool would it be to snap a photo of my dog and make a cute plushie of him, right?! Ad is misleading. There's no option to snap and create. You have to enter a promp, then it's supposed to generate the pattern. Only problem... It just generates a picture. No pattern. You can save the generated image, but you dont get to learn how to make it. Misleading. Disappointing
Extremely misleading ads/store listing. Firstly, there is no camera to "identify and learn stitches". Second, no upload for "personalized guide". Third, there is no checklist style tracking. 4th, the instructions are page-by-page, you cannot go back to a previous step. 5th, the images are AI-generated and the project is only one part of the items in the photo. 6th, the "pattern generator" is actually just an image generator. 7th, there is no search feature. 8th, they want your money. Trash app.
I tried one simple pattern. It was supposed to have instructions for at least three different small accessories. It actually only gave instructions for the small bow that I followed and completed in only 20 min or less even though it said it could take 1-2 hours to complete. The finished project did look like a bow, but it did not look like the picture given. There are better free tutorials on Youtube. Don't waste money on this.
Learning needed tips!!! I've been self teaching myself through various sites and books but was loosing interest. Mainly because my stuff wasn't turning out as well as I wanted or I wasn't understanding things. In the first 24 hrs of doing their demos I learned tips on what I did wrong. Love that they have guided projects for beginners that are well explained and at a steady pace. $50 for a year is looking like it's worth it!!!!
