Reviews for Yi Home

Absolutely horrible with ads that you can't get passed to access the system. Used to be a free service. Paid version just gave cloud recording. Now you can't even open the app without an ad pop-up. Once I finally got in and turned on a camera, another ad popped up. So done with this program. Whatever you do, DO NOT give them your money or buy their cameras. Total and absolute garbage now.

This app is so annoying with the amount of ads. I understand you want people to pay for your app but do you really have to make it this useless? It's almost impossible to get past the ads. I do not need a discount. Once we have watched the ads, make it possible to exit out of it to proceed with viewing the camera that we have already purchased. The page is just stuck on the ad and we have to close the whole app and start over.

Return it as soon as you see this reviews. You will be boomed with ton of advertisements. if the apps contains the ads, you suppose to let us know before we purchase. the camera is not free, we buy the hardware. if someone try to file lawsuit, more than happy to join because the company never said anything about ads when we buy the product. your support never respond.

Ads are way over the top on the free version now, and there always convenoently is an error when you try to save videos to a local SD card. Free version is borderline unusable now. I paid for your camera. Now, years later, you're going to force me to pay for cloud storage I don't need or want to keep using this? Well ok, but you get a 1 star review then. I can't even close these sletchy ads most of ths time. A skip or X button will never appear, forcing me to restart the app. Awful.

this app was fine when I bought it. Now they've ruined the video quality with updates and made it so you cannot access your cameras without watching ads. Ads are multiple, very long, and some are Very inappropriate material. Sometimes I can't even get past the ad to enter the app- I'm forced to close it & start all over. So, if you plan to use these cameras for security or to monitor your kids or pets, just know you can't view the cameras quickly unless you pay for the subscription.

Update: Do not download or buy these cameras. used to be great now full of adds and always trying to force you towards their cloud app. I was served a malicious add a few days ago. Stay away! Great quality, super easy set up and no lag at all. To be fair I have a 100mbps connection I don't think you need half of that for reliability but I cannot complain. FYI it says its powered by lithium batteries but this is not the case. It has an ac adapter (Mirco USB) so that was a bit of a downer.

I have five of these cameras. I used to love owning these cameras. I like that they had an SD card, so I had direct access to the footage. The app was basic but worked very well for my purposes. But now the app is loaded with intrusive ads that you have to constantly skip through in order to get to the footage, and it's the only way to access the footage without pulling the SD card. I can't recommend this product anymore

Update: I'd give negative 5 stars if I could... They doubled down on adds and these adds are very aggressive and dang near hold you hostage if you want to see footage. Back out to see another cam? You're immediately slapped with another aggressive add for 20 plus seconds. Want no adds? pay hundreds a year. They started placing adds when you open the app. The last thing I need when potentially dealing with an emergency is to close out adds when all I want is to see what is going on in my house.

The fact that they thought it was a good idea to run ads the second you open the app is hilarious - only made even funnier when you look at reviews and their response is "yeah but if you pay for a subscription, we'll remove the ads!" I'm now switching all of our cameras over to wyze, in hopes they don't go down the same route in the near future.

worked really good the first few years but now they want you to pay to use the app. now multiple ads pop up and you can't close the ads. you end up having to close the yi app multiple times to get an ad that will let you close it to see your cameras. then half the time more ads pop up. at this point it's either pay them or throw away the cameras and go with another company.

You buy the product, but if you want to use the app it comes loaded with advertisements. unless you pay a subscription. Ill never buy your products again. Im guessing they dont make money selling their products they had to get ads to make up for it. now the service is unusable. camera wont even connect anymore update: worst than ever now adds get stuck and need to reload the app to view. not worth it. specially if someone is breaking into your home and you need to see whats going on in a hurry!

Nothing wrong with cameras. had them for about 8 years now. over the last year the ads on the app have become too much. you can't skip them, and they pop up everytime you switch screens or cameras. The ads redirect you to your web browser. simply checking one of your cameras used to take about 20 seconds or less l, now it can take longer than 2 mins sometimes. and another 2 mins if you want to check a different camera. I am hoping they change this because it really is untenable.

Good luck trying to see who's at your front door with the ads taking so much time to skip. I would recommend going with Ring for sure. This Kami is a low-level, high-priced camera app. Terrible service as well. Charged me double last month. No one to call, their e-mail said they couldn't accept emails as their box is full. I was charged twice in one month. There's no way to just cancel plan. You have to send an inquiry.

This review is based on the ad free plan, not sure ads are better on paid. I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I've used this app the past 4 years and it was great up until recently, now literally ad after ad. You open up the app, theres an ad, you click a clip, theres an ad, you exit that clip, theres an ad. Same goes for live view! On most of the ads, theres no X to close them out, so you have to exit the app and hope when you reopen, there'll be one with an X you can close. Going elsewhere

Not sure what happened with this last update but I have lost the ability to see live feed. I haven't signed up with your service as I don't need that, but I was able to see the live feed. Now it says it can't connect to the network, but everything else in my house is able too. I've restarted it, deleted app and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I'm about to give up on them and just get a Blink indoor camera(to go with my outdoor cameras(

it's okay, not great. Miss a lot no matter the setting. Video quality is great. Constantly tries to get me to buy a subscription even though I have one, updates constantly (at least three times a week) & while it waits for $/update it won't record motions. Like holding a hostage for $ &/or update. Get random bird flying by, but miss package drop offs I set it up for, & my mechanic taking my vehicle from my driveway. My car is there, my car is gone, nothing in between. Make it make sense.

I brought 4 cameras years ago and everything was fine, the app was doing ok no issues. Now? I absolutely hate it, the ads is so freaking annoying, If there's ever a emergency and I gotta check the camera guess what? There's a ad when you open the app, there's a ad when you click on what camera you wanna see and of course there's a random ad that takes you out of the app itself without you even pressing anything. I'm about to just get new cameras from somewhere else, it's not worth the headache

I would not use this app if it were not outright required to use the cameras. It now plays ads every time I open it, which is obviously not ideal if you are trying to use your cameras after just hearing an odd sound and trying to decide whether to be concerned. As if the external ads weren't bad enough, the app is also constantly advertising its other services, and by "constantly," I mean every time you open the app, select a camera to view, or switch to literally any other part of the app.

12/20/23: As others have said... I've used Yi for years, generally happy with it. Now, full screen ads on startup. Do not offer me a discount on an ad-free subscription. I'm not getting it. Update 1/31/25: Wow, they're really hitting the startup ads hard. Update 5/2/25: I'm moving on to a different product. The inundation of ads is not worth the quality of this product.

It is alright for the first month but then if you don't pay their monthly subscription you have to watch advertisement after advertisement. You hear something outside and want to check to see what it is you have to watch a 60 second ad before you can view the camera. Recently they added ads between switching cameras so you have to watch multiple ads just to view the live feed and ads pop up all over the app, sometimes in the app I will get a pop-up saying my phone is infected with a virus.....
