Absolutely horrible with ads that you can't get passed to access the system. Used to be a free service. Paid version just gave cloud recording. Now you can't even open the app without an ad pop-up. Once I finally got in and turned on a camera, another ad popped up. So done with this program. Whatever you do, DO NOT give them your money or buy their cameras. Total and absolute garbage now.
Reviews for Yi Home
This app is so annoying with the amount of ads. I understand you want people to pay for your app but do you really have to make it this useless? It's almost impossible to get past the ads. I do not need a discount. Once we have watched the ads, make it possible to exit out of it to proceed with viewing the camera that we have already purchased. The page is just stuck on the ad and we have to close the whole app and start over.
Return it as soon as you see this reviews. You will be boomed with ton of advertisements. if the apps contains the ads, you suppose to let us know before we purchase. the camera is not free, we buy the hardware. if someone try to file lawsuit, more than happy to join because the company never said anything about ads when we buy the product. your support never respond.
Ads are way over the top on the free version now, and there always convenoently is an error when you try to save videos to a local SD card. Free version is borderline unusable now. I paid for your camera. Now, years later, you're going to force me to pay for cloud storage I don't need or want to keep using this? Well ok, but you get a 1 star review then. I can't even close these sletchy ads most of ths time. A skip or X button will never appear, forcing me to restart the app. Awful.
this app was fine when I bought it. Now they've ruined the video quality with updates and made it so you cannot access your cameras without watching ads. Ads are multiple, very long, and some are Very inappropriate material. Sometimes I can't even get past the ad to enter the app- I'm forced to close it & start all over. So, if you plan to use these cameras for security or to monitor your kids or pets, just know you can't view the cameras quickly unless you pay for the subscription.
Update: Do not download or buy these cameras. used to be great now full of adds and always trying to force you towards their cloud app. I was served a malicious add a few days ago. Stay away! Great quality, super easy set up and no lag at all. To be fair I have a 100mbps connection I don't think you need half of that for reliability but I cannot complain. FYI it says its powered by lithium batteries but this is not the case. It has an ac adapter (Mirco USB) so that was a bit of a downer.
I have five of these cameras. I used to love owning these cameras. I like that they had an SD card, so I had direct access to the footage. The app was basic but worked very well for my purposes. But now the app is loaded with intrusive ads that you have to constantly skip through in order to get to the footage, and it's the only way to access the footage without pulling the SD card. I can't recommend this product anymore
Update: I'd give negative 5 stars if I could... They doubled down on adds and these adds are very aggressive and dang near hold you hostage if you want to see footage. Back out to see another cam? You're immediately slapped with another aggressive add for 20 plus seconds. Want no adds? pay hundreds a year. They started placing adds when you open the app. The last thing I need when potentially dealing with an emergency is to close out adds when all I want is to see what is going on in my house.
The fact that they thought it was a good idea to run ads the second you open the app is hilarious - only made even funnier when you look at reviews and their response is "yeah but if you pay for a subscription, we'll remove the ads!" I'm now switching all of our cameras over to wyze, in hopes they don't go down the same route in the near future.
worked really good the first few years but now they want you to pay to use the app. now multiple ads pop up and you can't close the ads. you end up having to close the yi app multiple times to get an ad that will let you close it to see your cameras. then half the time more ads pop up. at this point it's either pay them or throw away the cameras and go with another company.
