Reviews for YouTube Kids

This is the best app! It has cool videos and cool channels, but no Arimura Taishi or Makennah or klaskyklaskyklaskyklasky gummy bear song version, so I can make video-editing with it because I have capcut. I still love this better than youtube! update: Can you stop focusing on educational and focus more on entertainment? I can't find trainfan1055. can you add it on there?

I find this app completely unusable with functionality so limited I can't figure it out! After installation, I selected only a handful of videos and 1 channel. I had to go into my regular YTube to find the others. But now I can no longer add more vids to the home screen. ALSO I can share videos but there's no way to migrate those videos to the main list. AND even though I have the cast to TV feature on there's no button in the app to do that. AND no search bar to find specific vids.

It is useful with a lot of useless ads for kids. 1. I hope one day I can block certain users as the content of their videos is misleading. 2. It gets disabled on my honor x6 phone on a daily basis. Please make changes in this regard, if possible, in your future versions. Thanks. revised: October 4, 2025 Good job regarding add blocks for preschool kids. please do so for kids up to age 10. I am now changing my feedback from 1 🌟 to 3. when showing ads, one is enough, not multiple ads, which is 😡

I really like YouTube kids and it's parental control features, though I do need to put in more time tweaking it. We started using it when our kid was 2, and they're almost 5 now. You really need to pay attention. I was surprised that watching people play games like Minecraft and Roblox was viewable on general preschool settings. I'll be switching to approved channels only in the setting instead of allowing them to discover things on their own.

Very annoying for kids to navigate. I have search disabled, and approved a few channels. instead of just letting them click on channel profiles it throws a bunch of random videos on a page they have to endlessly scroll. I can't get to specific creators. for example if I approve baby panda, blippie, and level up: blippie may never show..it's just lost in a garbled mess of panda and level up. Nice that I can block unwanted content but otherwise horrible.

It's fine with it works but frequently it'll cause my kids to meltdown. Sometimes it'll reset and I'll have to set it up again. Other times it'll randomly delete all their downloaded videos. We often use this app in the car and when they don't have downloaded videos, they get upset because they can't watch anything in the car. And once (so far), the videos disappeared in the middle of a car ride, so my kid was enjoying videos and then suddenly there were no downloads. I wish they would fix this!

I'm giving a one star review because I want YouTube to know that calling this app "kid friendly" is an absolute joke. I understand that it doesn't show explicit content, but that doesn't mean it is a shield from the internet. There are videos on there that show things that are provocative, massive amounts of innuendo, and a ridiculous amount of siphoning from ads to questionable sites. so please, make this app safer. it's more like YouTube training wheels then something you should give your kid.

Like that so far, it only shows appropriate videos for kids. Not user-friendly with swipe controls. Trying to exit app on my pixel 8 is a nightmare. I usually just end up scrubbing the timeline of the player or returning to the pick a video screen. Also, you can't download hand-picked videos. The app will download what it wants when It wants with no way to change it.

while it's easier to use and safer for kids, there are way more ads. In the morning there is an ad after every video. There are still a lot of videos where the title is in another language. I wish I could customize to only English videos for my 1 year old. There are still occassionally inappropriate videos which can easily be blocked or reported. My kids like to watch the same videos over and over but it almost never starts at the beginning.

Frustrated. I never had an account until today. My little is 2, and haven't had any issues. New issue, even after update, I don't know how it started, but I made an account. Now I can't cast to our Chromecast. It started on her tablet. I signed into her account from my phone (to see if it was just the device's issue), but now I can't cast from my phone either! So frustrating. I was able to cast just fine pre-profile. No wifi issues.

Unable to enter my birth year on lock screen. When I press on the data entry points, no keypad appears, so I can't enter my birth year. Unable to activate app. Edit: it turns out that the data entry keypad is only visible in landscape mode. This is a terrible user interface, there is no clue that there is something off screen in portrait mode which is the way 90% of people will use it on their phone. Upgrading to two stars.

I agree with everyone else there needs be more filters so I can control what they watch. The new "Approved Content Only" is a joke. I spent an hour looking through and approving channels, but after my daughter watched it for a little while all but 3 videos disappeared. I think its because it will only show "recommended" videos based on what she was watching. It should just show all the videos the channel has instead of narrowing it done. Given all the inappropriate content I'm uninstalling.

Too simple, all I want to do is subscribe to a handfull of channels and let that be the YouTube they can watch. I'm trying to choose only educational channels and documentaries which doesn't seem at all possible. Ideally, I'd like it to look like YouTube normally, but it shows "kid" and educational content only. I feel like some of these suggested videos are cheap pacifiers, not enriching.

Perfect app. Intuitive to use for little kids, and super easy to manage for parents. I was having so much trouble getting Amazon kids to work for my 2yr old for long car trips, then i found this. I just pin the app and he can easily navigate without getting stuck. I use the mode where I choose exactly what videos are available, add his favorite channels, e.g. super simple songs, and he's set without my worrying at all about what he might find.

Non-intuitive interfaces, bouncing between URLs and the app. And gosh forbid, if you forget your password while you are already logged into the app. Good luck. Apparently I have to go between the app and the website to try to figure out how to reconnect things, including the television. And the parental controls are almost worthless. If your kids are smart enough to search they can get to whatever they want. Especially YouTubers that waste their lives away setting for examples.

So easy to use! My 2 year old is able to work it by himself! I love how I am able to block certain shows and channels I don't want him watching and it shows only age appropriate videos! You can also view what they have been watching. I also live how there are very very few apps! A lot less than regular YouTube. Every ad that does pop up is completely age appropriate, usually toys or kids shows. We probably only get 1 ad every other day or so.

I have the app on both my phone and our smart TV. It is a great collection of kids videos for all ages. I do have a suggestions. For phone, it is simple to slide the bar back to the beginning, but I'd like to see a restart or start from beginning button for TV app. For phone, I'm able to subscribe to channels but not while on the TV app. For TV app, if the highlight could be another color or bolder, it would be easier to locate.

My kiddos do not get much screen time (and that's not judging those who do). I downloaded this for a dance recital rehearsal to go along with activity bags I made for the girls. Seven and half hours is a long time for kids to sit in between numbers and waiting their turn so I wanted a bunch of different things to avoid the "I'm bored" dilemma. Every time I'd check on the kids and they had the app on there was really inappropriate content. Either included in the video or linked in the similar videos. That speaks more for the video makers than the app developers though. I feel there has to be a different way of filtering content in the videos before they are added to the app for kids to view.

Love this for my 4 and 8 year olds. Has settings for parental controls (time limits, video types, history, ect) and I can easily set a pass code and timer. Also, you sign in with your YouTube account, but nothing on there goes into your history. Great app. Would like for there to be a better way to block videos or categories of videos. And to show only certain videos. If you have kids ages 4 to 10 this app is perfect.

Decent, but needs some improvement. It's nice to have more control of what my child sees on YouTube. The parental controls are good. The video controls are lacking; rewind is a 10 second rewind, there is no option to start from the beginning. If you go back to watch a video that you had already watched halfway, you have to watch from the last watched part. The select highlight on the tv is white on pale blue, it is not easy to see.
