*edit* the stuff below was from a year and a half ago, and NOTHING has changed. Every time you turn around theyre dropping channels and sending you an email about how they're charging you more for less. It's a scam at this point. Flat out. They keep raising prices and dropping channels. There's a button to "submit feedback" but it literally doesn't do anything when you click it. I've had YouTube tv for a few years now and it has gotten worse and worse while the price has gone up and up
Reviews for YouTube TV: Live TV & more
← Back to YouTube TV: Live TV & moreJust okay. Biggest issue is it's a pain to watch your recorded shows. You navigate horizontally and the oldest episode is all the way to the right. You have to move all the way over to start watching at the last recorded episode. Plus it sometimes mixes in live shows. Other issue is there are no profiles... ?? Your whole household's viewing history is combined. Really waters down the recommendations because they are based on everyone. Great in terms of the quantity of content.
limited access on increasing number of programs. On-demand streaming commercials are almost double the decibels of the program. Furthermore, they're increasing prices. Probably will leave soon. The app periodically crashes too, which is infuriating because it takes so much time to launch and watch 2 minutes of commercials in order to resume. F*** you Google. you used to be good.
Rates going up! in general, for $40/month, I was willing to subscribe. But I was just informed my rates are going up by $10 each month. It no longer has the same appeal at $50/month. Combination of local channels and sports was great. Unlimited cloud DVR was a plus, but many shows won't allow you to skip commercials. At $50 a month, I'll be looking for another option.
Recently, it's glitching to a black screen where I have to turn my phone off and back on for it to fix. And now the pause button and fast forward and rewind buttons are just gone.. They don't show up on the screen anymore. If I touch in the places they used to be, they'll sometimes work, but nothing is viable. The progress bar is gone too. It's making it very hard to watch on my phone like I used to.
Pretty buggy. Too hard to browse live TV. In app, I can only see what's currently live, but not what's starting in 15 minutes for example. If there's a program that starts in the future, and I just want to go to that channel, there aren't options to do so from the program page. Broadcasting to my TV, or more specifically changing programs while broadcasting from my phone is buggy. Detinitely not as good as the normal YT app, very expensive, interface could be better, but gets the job done.
Great price and a huge viewing selection and options to choose from but what good is it if you can never watch anything all the way through, Live or Recorded, due to continuous freezing, buffering or no connection at all and I can't spend another month with the"Oops something went wrong" message!! Unfortunately, I MUST go back to Direct TV. The price is higher than I would like but YouTube proves that you get what you pay for.
I like the concept that YouTube has here and for the price it's great but there is still a lot to update and make better. First thing is the amount of channels is ok not at the amount of some other apps but the price is cheaper. Second thing is the sound quality is horrible. I'll be watching a on demand show and the show it's self is really hard to hear unless you turn it up a lot to when they have their add commercials come on the sound is crazy loud to almost blowing out my speakers. I don't have a cheap sound system and I don't have just a sound bar so I know it's not my equipment because this doesn't happen anywhere else. YouTube please fix this issue. Last thing is that there needs to be a already watched this episode option. I have a bunch of shows in my library that say 2 or 3 episode that are unwatched but when I go in it is already something I have seen it just didn't mark it off. This is a little annoying and makes you think you have missed something. The live TV is great but does take a while to load sometimes but the quality I think is better than cable. I will keep using this but I hope it gets better.
Just meh. I pay $72 a month for youtube tv and it was only supposed to be $60, is my 1st issue. Secondly, for $72 a month all the shows I have recorded has 10 commercials per 30 min-60 min shows that you can not fast forward through. To me that's absolutely ridiculous considering I only pay $19 for netflix WITHOUT commercials! For me I haven't experienced any "playback errors" as others have. I think for the price a whole lot of updating and fixing issues need to be made to justify the cost!
Well, there was definitely things I liked. But suddenly after 4 days of the trial the channel won't load no matter how many apps/channels i delete from my Roku. I would not recommend this at all if you use a Roku device. Sad, because it has a good premise. Being able to rearrange and edit what channels show up and the order of them. But if it won't load, its pointless.
The unlimited recording is a great feature. The rewind/forward controls should be placed below or above the controls for skip forward/back. I keep hitting the wrong one. Also, when you pause, the screen dims to about half and the virtual controls remain plastered across the screen. Not good if you want to see a detail in the paused image. Overall, ok.
The developers of this app simply cannot get it together. I constantly have to reopen the mobile app since it keeps disappearing from the top. Once opened, it no longer is in synch with the show that is on TV. The show is at a different place. If a recorded movie gets restarted it will be at a different spot that where you left off. Would recommend others purchase another service that is reliable, if available. It is time to search for other options or just enjoy Showbox and Netflix. Those are fantastic apps.
Everything I've tried to watch, the wording is off by like a whole second. And when you pause it to fix it, it works, then pause itself and goes back to being off by a second. It's super fn annoying especially for something I'm paying for? Yeah right, never ever again n that's the reason I'll never do it again. Waste of money and time. Not to mention the content is old AF. It's almost as bad as Netflix.
I've had no issues for, I think it's been a few years, when the price went up there was a bug with my billing and my YTTV account. So my billing was paid, but it wasn't recognized by my account and my account keeps asking me to sign up. It's been 18 days and counting since my YTTV has been inaccessible and they kept my money. All customer service tells me is that it's been "escalated to our engineers." I've asked them for a refund and I get no answer. And I'm at max characters for this review.
Whenever I am trying to watch a basketball game that is either delayed or recorded, I am suddenly taken to the beginning of the recording. It's happening incessantly now. I can't even get 2 min of gameplay in before it is jumping to the beginning. So frustrating. Especially during March Madness. You continue to up and up your price, placing a premium on your service, but cannot do the simple things like video quality and playback right. SMH
App works, its just entirely way to expensive. Also, the free trial they offered at the time I signed up was 2 weeks and $14.99 for the first month. When I went to manage subscription, it showed only 3 days left for free trial and would be charged $64.99 for the first month instead of the original promotional price. I cancelled imediately. I feel that is false advertising. Good thing i noticed it before i got charged. Check your membership before you get charged incorrect amount guys.
I love YouTube TV . I enjoy watching local stations and having a library of stuff that records for me so I can watch my shows whenever I have time. and being able to watch things in real time. However the price is to HIGH!! I will not be able to keep it past my 3 month special price. Unless the lower the price i will be forced to unsubscibe come the end of July 😪
I would have given 5 stars, but for several long-standing bugs that block me from a couple of features that are very important to me. For the last several years, I have benn unable to display the list of my recordings in the library. When I choose the library tab, most of the time the wait cursor appears for several minutes, then I see the error message "Oops, something went wrong" and none of my recordings are displayed. Also, under the Home tab, I no longer see "Resume Watching".
The user interface is poor. There are no channel numbers so if you want to jump to a particular channel, you have to scroll down or up to get to it. Lots of games on Sunday Ticket as have been mentioned are blocked for being in market when they are hundreds of miles away. Very frustrating for the money spent on it. Over all if the product was better I could maybe justify the price, but in it's current state there is no way. Prices need to be cut in half for what they are offering. 2.5/5 stars.
This used to be a great app when I wasn't traveling. Now that I often travel, it doesn't allow me to select that I'm traveling and therefore restricts me from watching shows in the city where I'm located. It makes it difficult to see local news and traffic conditions. Bottom line, no longer worth the subscription.
