In my opinion, the only thing that would make this better is if your highlights spread over all your offline versions, for comparing verses in different translations. Also, being able to highlight parts of verses rather than the entire verse would be fantastic. EDIT 2024: The app just keeps getting better and better, but I still would like all my highlights unified across all versions, personally. EDIT 2025: No idea what's up, but the dark mode doesn't work, only in the actual bible, so -1★.
Reviews for YouVersion Bible App + Audio
← Back to YouVersion Bible App + AudioI love the way this app helps me study the Bible. I mean really study and dig deep. The plans can be fluffy too but my walk with Jesus is growing deeper. I was having numerous issue with app functionality. Finally I went to the system app settings and deleted stored data and cache. I had to sign in again and everything was still there and the app is working again.
I really like this app the search engine is easy to use and I can find the verse I need to share in a moment. the scripture is easy to access and the audio gives you the ability to both hear and read giving a much better understanding the plans are nice to get into a topic or a book to gain better understanding and insight the app is offered as free . and it is . when you open it there it is a pop-up that asks for a donation so you're a part of its mission. free or paid for?
I love that I can have 2 open windows on my Z Fold 6. with either two different verses or even two different Bible translations. at the same time. for better cross referencing. Youversion takes advantage of my phones capabilities. making it much more convenient to further my education and relationship within Christ. and I'm able to learn more, faster.
It has an audio book part, and as someone who has an extremely hard time concentrating at only one thing at a time (dont ask because I dont understand either) this is an amazing feature. It has all versions of the bible too so you can use whichever one you want. It also has a ton of plans for verses to read that differ every day to help overcome sins. It has highlighting features, clarifications, and much more. I would reccomend this to anyone who wants to know God better! Also for typos!
Beautiful app, almost every transition you could want, easy to use and quickly compare different translations too. God is so good!!! But they took away the Bookmarks feature which I so loved and had a bunch of saved Scriptures that I used for different things that are how gone. so, for me it was a friendly reminder that you can't beat your paper Bible!
I've used the app since it was launched, and I recommend it to everyone I know. Would you please bring back the feature to search actual words and phrases in the text order. For example, if I search for steadfast love, I get many results that don't contain either word, and the results aren't in Biblical order. This might be good for topical searches, but it makes word studies impossible. Thanks again for all your work!
The android version seems to need work compared to the iso version. I was at my church with a few people and we had been doing the same things within the app. My android seemed to freeze and not act as smoothly as the Apple devices. I had to uninstall the app and reinstall. I still believe that I am having issues. Love this application. Hopefully the issue gets corrected.
I have to drive pretty far most days of the week (over an hour each way), and recently switched translations of the Bible that I wanted to read, this app made it super easy to have access to it (I went from NIV to NASB). One of the other things I really love about this app is that you can do side-by-side comparisons of different versions to see what the wording is in whichever ones You're curious about. I also really love the the verse of the day notification, and the "streaks" notification!
I use this app every day on all of my devices. there are so many options to choose from, not only with the bible, but other ways to get connected with God. Filled with bible studies, the capability to take notes, and I haven't even scratched the surface. my ONLY gripes are i haven't found a way to skip to a verse. if anyone knows how to, help a brotha out? and, it doesn't sync to all my devices.
I enjoy the devotions, stories, and videos. It's very encouraging enlightening. The app itself doesn't work as well as it used to. When you complete a devotion, it's supposed to check it off as being complete. When you open the next day, it shows that you hadn't read it and the check is gone, or after you complete a devotion, it is supposed to go into the "completed" section, yet it stays open. I've contacted IT several times about this. Maybe they changed IT companies, but nothing works.
The reading plans are outstanding! The ability to switch back and forth between versions without having to carry them around individually is wonderful. I like to highlight and make notes too, which isn't always possible in a regular Bible due to small margins. 9/6/25 Update- I still love the app except for the fact that I have been trying, for a while now, to do devotionals with friends and it seems to be causing all sorts of problems, especially across platforms (apple vs droid).
This is an amazing app, not only because of the multitude of versions and languages it includes, but because of the wide variety of plans, devotionals, prayers, and churches you can access. I love the ability to connect with other users, the badges that serve as the reward system many of us need, and the fact that everything in the app is free. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars is the absence of an in-app journal where you can jot down your thoughts and share with the community.
Love this app. I just wish it had book introductions and an option to highlight part of a verse and not always the whole thing. The idea for "Streaks" was great. ......Update..... I'm glad to find a spot that has all of my notes in one place. Is there any way to make new suggestions? Also, why can we no longer go straight to a specific verse but now have to stroll all the way down? It makes it hard to cross reference while studying.
You Bible is a great for study, memorizing, and just good old fashioned reading of God's word. I like the print size of the letters. The print is large enough for me to read without problems. I also like the ability to search and scriptures based on your interests. This app even has books of the Bible you can study and the number of days your study will last. Finally, this app has a wide variety of transactions. I believe I going to really enjoy the You Bible app.
I absolutely love the guy's voice. But it starts back at John 1 everytime I open it. I won't waste time looking to find where I left off every night. Especially when, while I can click on the chapter I want, I cannot click a verse. I have to skip one verse at a time (or scroll and hope I hit the right spot). Not fun when the day's reading has you leave off at the end of a chapter. Every other audio book I've ever used picks right up where you leave off. I don't why this can't.
An incredible tool for reading the Bible. Featuring more translations than the sand on the beach in countless languages, along with hundreds of plans for every square inch of the Bible, all completely free with no ads. There's a few nitpicks I have (such as the red text not being great for some translations and the continuous scrolling feature being bit inconsistent sometimes) but other than that, this app is literally perfect.
Love the Bible app! I use it every day. I have access to several versions to cross reference for clarification and better understanding of the word of God. I really like that I can highlight verses that speak to me so I can refer back to them quickly. the daily streak is great too. 10/2/25 very disappointed over the last 2 yrs. not sure what happened but I've noticed several glitches, lost my 910 day streak because it didn't recognize that I opened the app did it again yesterday
I love this ap! The devotionals are fantastic, & I like that I have so many versions of the Word to choose from. 5/23 Update: I have found that since the update, I no longer receive reminders - even though I have gone into each plan to turn it on and set the time. The daily verse pops up at all times of the day instead of the time I set. If I am listening, the verse selection starts over if the phone is unlocked with the ap open. The changes are not good. 11/8
I was STRUGGLING in my walk with Him before this app. Honestly, I had no clue where to even get back on the path. Then my friend showed me this app- it's got highlighters, two narrator options, optional reminders and notifications you can turn on, and devotionals to help with everyday stuff like stress, anxiety, depression, loss, and healing. I hold my finger on a passage- there's options to find another reference to it or tap pray. Struggling in faith or not this is the best Bible app! 🙌
