ease of use and like seeing alternatives, additives and why they are bad, and rankings. I don't always agree with the reasoning (e.g too much saturated fat, etc) but make my choices on the ingredients whether it's organic and what the additives are. good to se on the go. I just added my first product and the step by step was so easy: take pics of the front office table, nutrition chart and ingredients and it's almost instantly available! cool!
Reviews for Yuka – Food & Cosmetic Scanner
I've been using this for over a year now. It has worked flawlessly, never had a glitch. The information is broad and only rarely have I scanned something that it did not recognize. You then have the option of adding it for review. My two favorite things are that it gives very in-depth details to explain the ratings (especially if they're bad), and it doesn't stop there...it actually provider healthier alternatives! That is wonderful!
The App itself is very nice. Great UI. The only thing that I don't like, is that when you're looking to see what is in a product, it doesn't state any food dyes when there are food dyes. Food dyes can be cancerous and can cause other health issues. They don't even specify any food dyes at all. So the App is very limited on information. Also the App does not do supplements. Once the App implements more information such as the food dyes, supplements then I will gladly change my rating to 5 Stars..
I don't know if other people just had a bad experience, but I just downloaded this app to help me lose weight and see what I am eating, and this is an accurate app! Yuka shows you what's the negatives and positives are to the food you scan, and it even has a rating to se eif the food poor, well, and good! This app really deserves 5 stars.
This is hands down my favorite app on my phone! I use it all the time and it's really helped me shift towards healthier options. I made a donation to become a premium member, which unlocks the ability to search products without needing the physical barcode present, and to set food preferences. But honestly it's still super useful in the free version! Totally worth it!
I am always surprised by the random things this will actually have data on. it's not always accurate for niche products, but generally correct. What I don't like is that you cannot filter the scoring based on what you care about. I don't care for Yuka to evaluate the nutrition facts of a product--I just want it to evaluate the list of ingredients. I know my ice cream is too fatty and sugary. I just want to know if I should be concerned about certain additives and why.
This app is AMAZING! It gives all of the information you need to make an informed healthy purchase of food items without spending hours making comparisons. And I found that NOT all almond milks ( etc.) are equal Even though, almond milk is considered "healthy," some Risky Additives negate the health benefit. So the lower-priced one I was using was rated Bad, but there were 3 other well-known national brands rated Excellent! And it's been a great connection with my grown sons that I was missing.
Absolutely recommend to anyone, it really helps out is searching for healthier options in all sorts of products. Definitely changed my diet after realizing all the harmful additives I'm eating in all my foods. My only complaint is that it works in a very small selection of countries, though eventually that'll get better as it expands.
I just recently downloaded Yuka. My husband told me about it. He learned about it from a co-worker. I used it when I went grocery shopping a few days ago and to my surprise I only had to find alternatives for two or three items. I absolutely love this app! I also love that it recommends healthier options if something isn't healthy. Every time I shop for food I scan it first to make sure it's okay to eat. Thanks Yuka!!!
This is the most useful and addictive and infectious (in a good way) app you are likely to find and use. While I was using it at my food store three people noticed, asked me for a demo and immediately downloaded it. Find out instantly what any food product contains and if it's good or bad for you. Angry? Press one button and send your opinion to the manufacturer. I wish they had this for politicians!!
