Reviews for Zoosk - Social Dating App

Zoosk used to be really good. Now it's just a money hungry, scam. Not only do you have to buy premium in order to just reply to someone, you also have to buy coins in order to unlock other things on the app. That is absolutely, 100% ridiculous. You can use other apps for free or for far less, with much more/better options🤷‍♀️ installed and uninstalled within 20 mins.

Suddenly loaded with ads. Constantly matched with people hours/hundreds of miles away from my location when my profile indicates a more local radius. I've also been contacted by multiple fake accounts. Even if you identify a match, you can't connect with anyone without a paid subscription. You will receive messages that you can't read or respond to without a paid subscription. And these unreadable messages are listed between tons of ads. A free membership is USELESS.

There's definitely a wide pool of people on Zoosk, which is good. I don't love the way Views work. Basically if a profile pops up in front of you on your search page, that counts as a View of the profile (as opposed to clicking on someone's profile to view it). So some guys have said that I've viewed them multiple times when that wasn't my intention. So far, I think Match's system has been better.

Poor app, terrible for dating. You need to purchase a subscription to send messages, which is basically the only feature you get if you spend money. Once you've spent, you realise you need a bunch of other subscriptions to unlock the apps other features. On top of that, unsubscribing is difficult. Primary issue if that if you don't have a subscription, you can't read messages so you're urged to buy a subscription to read them, then find out about the message spam feature that nobody replies to.

This app is unusable unless you pay a subscription ($30/month). The app sells itself as free but you cannot use messaging or do anything really without paying. One of the worst things they do, however, is edit the text you submit about yourself. For instance, if you provide a way for anyone to contact you, they will delete it and prevent it from showing. If you mention anything bad about Zoosk they will edit it out. This company is very scummy and shady, everyone should avoid them.

This app is terrible. In the 3 days that I've had it, it rarely works. Half the time it won't load any content. When it does, you have to pay to actually communicate with anyone. I finally paid for it, then the app wouldn't let me actually send messages, which is the whole reason I paid for a membership. I contacted customer support to fix the problem and they just sent me a generic email. Overall just glitchy, and frustrating to use. Definitely don't recommend.

Wholly pay2play. Want to talk to your match pay, want to swipe on more then 1 person pay. Many other sites allow you to actually talk to someone without having to shell out a subscription to just talk. Oh and the amount of adds when you use carousel is crazy and you have to watch them each for at least 5 second, you literally have to watch adds for longer then you can look at people. Don't get this app, it's a waste. Would Rate 0 if I could.

pros: the interface is great cons: too expensive explanation: while it has potential, it could be much better, you should be able to message people for free, even if its only a limited number of messages per month, and you shouldn't have to pay extra for add ons to our current subscription that should be included with the subscription in the first place. simply put, it's waay more expensive than it should be, so i may be forced to go try a different site.

I like the carousel, but your search algorithms are the absolute worst. I have set them and am still seeing matches outside my parameters. If I get a message from someone I am not interested in, hitting the X should be enough to get rid of it, but I have to block/report them to stop seeing them. Set up more search options, like age, distance, or kids, etc, easily on the app. Don't make us use the web page. I expected more for a paid subscription.

The IT department is stuck in the 90's. I get an email or notifications that doesn't even match the app. "So and so is in to you, do you feel the same?" Open the app and nothing is there. Hundreds of dead and inactive accounts. The app itself locks up constantly and I have to restart it, menu buttons frequently don't work. Example, hit search and it opens carousel instead. I emailed customer support and got crickets. But who cares, you got my 30 bucks right?!!

This app positively sucks! There is no way to set your default search or match settings. It keeps cramming tons of completely unacceptable "matches" at you. You can go and save a search with better metrics, but it will never be your default and you cannot limit who will see you in their search. So, if you want to scroll through tons of garbage trying to find something that might be worth your time, this app is for you!

The photos embedded in profiles are too small.. I have not figured out how to expand them. Over all, the app is difficult to use...you have to skip back and forth to see profiles of people that like yours, suggested matches that you may like, and random. . Then toggle from that to random photos? Do you like this person? I don't know. I can't see their profile from a carosel photo ....

I used Zoosk, about ten years ago, and it was awesome, back then. Now, I can't get the screen to not skip to the next "match", so I can "like" a picture. I can't see the heart/smile icons, unless I scroll up, then it skips to the next. And the price? Ridiculous! Can't tap on anything, that doesn't prompt you for money. I guess I'll uninstall it and go to one of the other apps. Hard pass. Update 11/4/22 - The chat doesn't work very well. Only about every seventh message, actually goes through.

Hands down the worst dating app out there. Not only are there ads, but you can't even receive or send messages with the free version, despite what their advertising says. I don't mind paying for dating apps, but I want to be able to sample what I'm getting before spending as much as these apps charge nowadays, and Zoosk doesn't even offer that. You'd figure that with the ads, which no other app has, they'd be able to offer more features, but corporate greed strikes again!

Unless you're ready to spend $22/month, this app is no more than window shopping. Other dating apps limit functionality, but this one goes a step further by locking everything down until you pay money. You can like people, you can look at their pictures, but that's as far as you're going to get until you're ready to open your wallet. They also have the common suspicious feature of you getting a bunch of messages right away when you join, but they're a little smarter and don't show you details

Won't load Uninstall reinstall still nothing this is a constant problem with this app. Constantly showing you the same couple of profiles no matter your search style. and now, several years later, the same stuff is happening even more fake profiles. A lot of the same pictures from a long time ago. And with all these fake profiles getting flagged by the system, it crashed my account and I had to create a new one. And then I started seeing only pictures from around 5 years ago again. ridiculous

It's hard to tell if someone is a good match through the Connections section, you don't get to see the profiles, just a picture. You may find out the person you match with is 495 miles away and not a match at all. Makes it a superficial connection by looks alone. I do like that users are verified. Also, it was very good at letting me know when I was communicating with a scammer! But the lack of transparency with the profiles would discourage me from using the site again.

Save your money. The "free" version is horrible, with far too many ads. Plus you can't really do anything anyway. The paid version is equally horrible (just without the ads). Yes, you can do things in the paid version...like realize most of the profiles available in the paid version are people on the "free" version who can't do anything anyway (like read a message or respond). It's pricey too - This app has no value for money.

The app itself is a problem. After using it for about 5 minutes, it progressively gets slower and slower. It's as if all the profiles and pictures get loaded into memory and stay there, rather than being cleared out and refreshed as you continue browsing. Also, typing messages is a pain. The text editing is strange, and doesn't work like every other text box. Also, some buttons don't work on certain pages. The entire app needs work. It's clunky as hell.

This app has serious issues due to the developers' insistence to monetize every single aspect of the interactions on the app. If you want to send messages, you have to pay for a subscription. There is an option for subscribers to pay a little extra so any user can reply, but those users face issues with Ads in the app being in the way of accessing the messaging. The app often suffers from licking up, where you have to refresh it to get it working after launching.
