Bought this game as soon as it came out. Really great! It would be cool if there was more to the terrain. like if u could create earthworks like trerches or spikes and get bonus defence in the forest. Also the ability to take over an island instead of defend it and more of a variety of units. If it was a team game, it would simply be the best ever. Well done.
Reviews for Bad North: Jotunn Edition
← Back to Bad North: Jotunn EditionIt's alot of fun, pretty much a tower defense but with more strategy. I see people are having save issues where their save files aren't there or the game isn't saving. I'd recommend not hitting the return to menu button, instead, when you're done playing just hit the home button on your phone and close it that way. When you come back to the game your save should be there. If you die or lose you have to start over. My saves are always there and I can always pick up where i left off. Great fun.
The game is definitely a lot of fun and can be pretty challenging at times. Nice charactes, upgrades and strategy scenarios. My only issue is with the stability. I've played for maybe 2 hours already and had 2 crashes that completely lost all my saved data both times up to that point, and it can be frustrating. Overall a solid 4 and worth the cost.
The game is fun and good and all until you have to restart every time you open. It sets itself up to have a progressive system where for example if you unlock a character with an attribute you can use them in a new run through. The issue is you'll never do that because the game resets itself whenever you close it. Still a good game though. I would love to play it, but it feels like a waste of time since nothing saves.
love the game, already had this on the computer but wanted to play this more on my phone. there is an issue though, sometimes when I knock enemies away I send them flying so hard that they end up on the other side of the island even though they should've splashed in the water. I had maxed archers with heavy weapons if your wondering devs.
For a long time I was frustrated because I couldn't find "that game". The perfect balance of challenge, graphics, story, options and immersion. When I saw this was coming to mobile I was thrilled. Honestly the best money I have spent on Any game. Kudos to the dev team for providing such a fantastic concept to mobile! So happy with it I plan to get the pc version as well. You will not be disappointed! Looking forward to more releases from this talented team.
I love this game, the controls translate to touchscreen very well, the gameplay is simple and fun, and it's pretty good quality. This would be a 5-star review, HOWEVER, this game has a crippling save bug. It's only just started happening to me. 3 times in a row my save just gets deleted as soon as I quit the game. It doesnt matter if you leave during a battle, exit to main menu, or close the game. You lose your save file and all your time you spent on it.
Brilliant video game. Controls are easy and fluid, which is nice to see as it allows you to be engrossed in the game, especially with the harder difficulty as this requires some thinking! Very fun unit controls. During game waves, you can replenish units when injured, which can lose you the game if you aren't wise with this. Mistakes can be devistrating! Classes and items are new and fun ways to deal with enemy waves. Well done developers. Keep it up! Good to see real creativity and execution.
This game does not hold your hand (which I like!). Its simplistic style allows older phones to run the game, but its design allows for complex gameplay. Its one of those, "Learn it and earn it" kind of games. You'll make mistakes. Don't be afraid to start over! Learn each class and their strengths. Set priorities dependant on the map and difficulty. Its fun, casual and also challenging. Love this game!
Great game play, not quite hitting the mark on stability. I made it through many rounds of a game, only to have all of my data gone when I launched the game a few days later. I also am experiencing a bug where the attempt to connect to the Google play store takes forever and essentially freezes the game at the loading screen. But, beautiful game, beautiful graphics, really fun play.
This is an exceptional defense game with sweet graphics and cool sound effects. I she enjoyed playing the game. Pros, graphics, sound effects, scrolling in and out, challenging, easy to play. Cons, it's hard to remember all of the saved attributes that you can gain during the game including the bonuses to your commanders. It takes a while to play and get good at it but it is enjoyable. I don't think it's nearly as good as polytopia, but still replayable.
Right, fairly simple in its design and gameplay. But that's fun! You don't need overly complex mechanics to make a fun game and I believe for a minimalistic RTS, it does it well! The details from the portraits to the models through upgrades is a good touch. Skills are useful and can make a difference in the heat of it. However, my only gripe is you can't replay any of the previous islands without having to restart from the last checkpoint. Other than that? Very enjoyable, simple & easy to play.
Worth the 4 dollars!!!! Simple yet incredibly stressful! No micro transactions or ads but what I would do for some extra 4 gold per island... Interesting concept with the ability to go through multiple islands before clicking next turn if you have enough guys. I love the movement. Absolutely devastating when someone dies. I screamed out loud nooooooooo 💔💔💔💔. Only half way through excited to play through again with what I have learned my first time.
The game is really fun. Fantastic artwork. The only problem I keep having is that the game keeps deleting my progress. I have not actually played through the entire game because if i close the game for an extended amount of time it will delete my progress. This has happened to me every time without fail. This bug causes an extreme lack of desire to play because I know my progress will be deleted if I can't finish the game in one go. It's not a phone problem, I just got a new one. Please fix.
I like the art style, the sounds, the mechanics, the depth, etc. Overall it's a cool concept, executed decent. The pitfall is that the experience doesn't seem very dynamic. Once you've played it a few hours, you've basically had your fill. You can unlock better starting stuff, but that doesn't really entice me more into replaying all that much. The difficulty is also pretty steep and linear. You hit a wall eventually where every island just slaughters you with more brutes than you can handle.
Absolutely love the game! No ads which is awesome. Love the art style, and the background music. Good game to pass the time, and can get quite tense at times, keeps you engaged and on your toes. Although I do wish there were a little bit more upgrades, unit types. Perhaps even merging your units? Have spears with warriors, or Archers with Spearman, etc. Being able to take control of buildings and use them as a defensive position not only a heal zone? Overall a fantastic game, 5/5 all day!
This is one of the best strategy games I've found. The gameplay is enjoyable, the art is fantastic, if you screw up, your game is basically over... Like you have to restart... decisions are critical, you pay dearly for screw ups, though it's not so bad that by other good decisions you can't recover. There is a ton of variety, so you can play through again with completely different results. It's awesome, more than worth the price.
This game shows how you don't need flashy gameplay, complicated mechanics, or high-end graphics to make a fun and entertaining games. I recommend you get it. The five dollars are worth it. Just warning you all though. This game tends to slow down by the end of the game and this is only made worse if you have multiple save files(in my case I only had two). If you delete most of your save files and keep one, your game will speed up significantly.
One of the better mobile games. I keep coming back to it even years on. it's a bite-sized, real-time tactics game, and although I tend to prefer turn-based tactics, learning the nuances of the game is very fun. I just wish there was a little more to it; something to work towards. Also some of the achievements might be bugged, because I'm sure I should have earned them all by now. :P
Very fun, strategic, and unique game. I'm starting to think pre-pay games are the only way to enjoy a mobile game. A 2nd edition or additional modes and customizations would be welcomed. For example, more skill trees, boss levels, or bigger islands or castles and perhaps some that you're on the offensive would be fun.
