Reviews for BJA: Card Counting Trainer Pro

Really good to get practice in for both drills of deviations, perfect basic strategy, and for speed counting. However for speed counting, dont know if its just for mine but it split my 2's as normal but then I got another 2 and it didnt split into 2 hands. I dont know if thats a bug or a part of the app to not split up to 4 times during the speed count drill

I am pretty sure the speed counter trainer is not working correctly. Set to 1 hand per count and with 6 cards the count should have been -1 and instead was told it was -6. Pretty basic but after nonsense answers I tested it for a single hand and it's wrong half the time. Cards were 4, 10, 9 and 6, J, K... I am a cheap hire if you need it fixed, I mean logic should be the easiest part, assuming Android studio was used. $5 for a broken app is going to upset people. This is not good for your brand

Over all REALLY good app for training. Only reason its 4/5 is because the max chip size is 500. When you get to the point where you have a few 100,000 and want to start betting more to practice higher games. You have to click 500 Over and over and over again. On top on clearing bet. Need more chip options or add a way to just type out your bet amount. Also when useing deviations, it tells you the count you have when correcting. Wish it would say " deviate at 3+" or somthing. But app is 8/10

Algorithm really does not appear to be random, basic strategy doesn't work 70 percent of the time, even when observing the count it does the opposite. I'm beginning to think there is no way for any company to actually simulate bja. Follow the trainers advice and you will be losing most of the hands, I only go positive when I play more risky and use my own judgement.

It's uncanny that the algorithm is so skewed that the dealer can throw to the house, 21's in a multiple of combinations. In the real world, cards are random. I also noted that the app warns you not to do different moves when you should .(Example: doubling down) I ignored the advice and won more. PRO TIP....Save yourself some money and practice with real cards. Your experience will be much more real and productive.

Great for counting without a deck (or 8) handy. Few things I wish were implemented: 1) adjust bankroll to what ever size you desire. 2) saved session for drilling. for example, I put my phone down for an hour or so I want to come back to that drill I was already on. 3) separate drill section for only deviation practice. Otherwise nearly perfect in my opinion!

Update: Thanks for the response, exactly what I was looking for! Original: overall a good app that'll help you with counting and basic strategy. UI is great. Would recommend adding a mode to practice with specific card types like "Hard Totals", "Soft Totals", and "Pairs". I'm still learning basic strategy and those modes would help me focus on parts of the chart I'm still lacking skill on.

I love the app. And the only reason I'm giving it a four star rating is because I think there's always room for improvement with anything. Only recommendation I have so far is it would be awesome if when your count dropped to a -2TC if you have the option to wong out. Let's say it let you deal hands to a "ghost" until you get back up to a -1 TC or a positive TC. Overall great apps. Colin and the team did an excellent job. And I can't wait to get a membership with the academy. Has helped a ton!

great for learning basic strategy and card counting, and it is definitely worth the 5-6 bucks on the app store if you want to learn how to beat the casino @ blackjack. The card counting trainer is efficient and is easy to use, especially if you have only a few minutes to practice. The simulated blackjack games are also quite fun and educational as the simulator will tell you if a move you made is wrong based on basic strategy or based on the current count. It's better than most other BJ apps

This app's no better than most free practice apps. I suspect shenanigans with the betting feature; I was losing bank fast on high positive TCs & then started winning immediately with ridiculously high bets on walk-away negative TCs. I like the app's simplicity, though, & I trust the $5 will be worth future updates. I think the betting is rigged, but the app is good for practicing counting and basic strategy at the same time. Tip: hide the count & see how you did after the shoe. I was way off!

Great app, but I have one recommendation. If the user could somehow choose specific deviations to focus on, that would be helpful in my opinion. Perhaps a new drill mode (Deviations only) could be added which only deals hands that deviate from basic strategy. If the user could also select which deviations are dealt in that drill, that would be terrific. For example, only H17 deviations 1-5, 1-10 etc. Other than that, the app is quick and efficient :)

Dealing speed is jarringly fast, I can barely keep up with it at the lowest speed. Sometimes hands are dealt and automatically clear before I can even get a look at them, which does not help my counting. Slower speeds and manual click throughs for newbies would be much appreciated. Also, would be nice to be able to hide the running count and be prompted to verify it every few hands to make sure my counting is up to snuff. Is this already an option I have missed?

This app is amazing! Buy it. There are a few bugs and quirks and some features I'd like to see added, but I still feel this is the best way to learn blackjack. I've gone from total beginner to having played thousands of hands, memorized the charts, learned perfect basic strategy, card counting at a medium pace, and 10+ deviations in just a week or two. All of this to say: this app is an amazing way to learn if you put in the time. I can't recommend it enough.

Pretty good Blackjack trainer app. I have a few suggestions. I'm just learning basic strategy right now, and it'd be nice if you could train for specific scenarios, like adding a filter for which hands you can receive (only hands with aces, no aces, only pairs, etc). Also, it'd be really nice if there was a way to peek at the charts without having to exit the drill. At the very least you should be able to peek at the charts immediately after you've made a mistake. Other than that, very good app.

Great tool but needs improvement. Cards look small and can't rotate screen to make bigger. Speed counting only allows dealer and 1 player, so can't get practice in for counting for multiple players. Needs training for true count conversion. Easier (for me) to learn playing with another person with actual cards. Still use this in my solo off time to help learn though.

First impressions, game is not very good at receiving intended moves. I almost always have to repeat a "stand" swipe 5 or 6 times before it is accepted. I try to go faster, slower, nothing really seems to help. So that's a drag. But I think these guys are giving good info so ill probably use their site for counting training and then use a different simulator to actually practice my skills

Honestly a little disappointed in this app. It looks like it hasn't been updated in the last 2 years. The achievements reset after you make a mistake and don't show your highest streak. It would be nice if it showed your highest, last, and current streak. The deviation charts don't tell you what to do on the deviations, just that there is a deviation at a certain count. Would also be nice to have a way to practice counting down a deck. I will be happy to update rating upon response.

This app is good but it leaves a lot to be desired. When compared with the IOS version, the android version is definitely inferior. The maxis significantly slower than the iOS version. When turning betting off it still says won $0 when you win the hand. Just a lot of small things that add up. For a paid app it should be more fleshed out. Overall accomplished what it needs to. Really is a great app and the guy behind it is absolutely amazing!

Love this app for training! I've noticed that the card counting drill does not like to shuffle when the discard tray is full. Might be a bug. I would love to have deck pen, otherwise I'm playing through an entire shoe, which would never happen at a casino. It would also be cool to be able to get more premium drills.

Overall the app is pretty good. Though the counting drill function might be bugged. The count function seems way off from how it tracks cards in sample hands you can play. Edit: Response to Dev Comment - Yeah, that was my first thought too. I went from the speed count drills to the regular training drills, and my count has been on point. I only ever lose count if something else distracts me badly enough. Doing speed drills, my count is off by 3-5 so it seemed buggy, but maybe I'm just wrong.
