I’ve been playing Block Boss for a couple months now. It’s basically an economic simulator game where you start from scratch and try to become the boss of your neighborhood. You can open up all sorts of businesses like video salons, arcades, and discos, and then fight to defend your turf. There’s a cool strategy element to it where you have to manage your gang of boys and plan out your attacks.
The gameplay loop is pretty simple – you earn money from your businesses, use that to expand and upgrade your spots, and then try to take over more territory from other players. There’s also some fun little minigames you can mess around with in the yard. It’s a good mix of strategy, management, and light combat.
Look, if you’re into these types of management/strategy games, you’ll probably get a kick out of Block Boss. It’s not the most original thing ever, but it’s a solid time-waster that’s easy to pick up and play in short bursts. A few issues here and there, but overall it does a pretty good job of scratching that itch.
