Great fun game but there are many bugs that the developers have not fixed since this game initially came out. The game is ported by a different developer than the original PC version (which runs flawlessly). Many of the weapons are unusable because of a flaw in the game that pushes the enemies onto you and some of the items and game mechanics don't work as intended.
Reviews for Brotato: Premium
← Back to Brotato: PremiumAt one point in time the free to play version of this was better, theoretically had more content because of the card system but now, this is the ideal way to play with how over the top butchered the fee to pay version became, still, one of my favorite games to play on the go, I love how broken runs can become, it's just dumb fun with tons of characters and weapons.
Edit: Keep finding more game breaking bugs. Slow weapons will all attack the same target instead of multiple different enemy. Food won't magnetize. If you unlock danger level 1-5, the game won't remember it so you will have to start over at 1. The -20% speed unlock does not work. Accessibility options are listed under game description but are nowhere to be found. Love this game on PC but the mobile port is not tuned correctly. The bosses hit way harder and faster on mobile.
Overall I feel like this is a great port of the game as I have been addicted to the game since I bought it, but I have run into issues. sometimes there are audio issues when you hit too many targets, which is minor issue. One big problem I'm facing is unlocking streamer and speedster(?) where I meet the required speed but don't unlock the character and its really been bugging me. Another problem I saw was that arms dealer didn't have a weapon at every shop which kind of ended that run.
This game is very fun. The character building mechanics are sound, and there are a lot of ways to make a powerful run. The only bad thing is the sub-bosses on higher difficulty levels. 99% of failed runs fail on Stage 11 because the bosses that can appear there are way too strong for your power level at that point. It creates a situation where if you CAN survive Stage 11, you can cruise through the rest of the run, which is messed up difficulty scaling. Not a problem on low difficulties.
The game as a whole is a blast, the only reason I am not giving 5-stars is the experience on PC is much better. The lack of asynchronous attacks on mobile, and the delayed release of DLC characters/items, make the game frustrating. Some of the monsters are just too much on mobile, where you need to use your fingers to move, and really should be removed/nerfed (example: goblin shark). [Not contacting support for the "thank you for your input" response that goes nowhere]
I really like this game. It took me some time to get into it, but it's fun. One thing I wish it had, was some kind of a custom sandbox mode that didn't affect unlocks etc. Where you could choose whatever weapons/items/stat combos you wanted freely to experiment. It's fine without that though, I just sometimes want to see what it'd be like to have certain hard to get weapons fully maxed out, like the Gatling or obliterator.
Really addicting game. I love all the creative ways they created characters. Some OP and some just silly AF. I also like how you have to complete certain tasks to unlock new characters as well as new items and the characters change depending on what items you equip. the same goes for the facial expression with the characters when you level them up. Great game!
AMAZING GAME. However two features I would love to see to make it a 5 star game. 1: Ability to end run when doing endless and get to the end game screen and stats and rewards. Sometimes I get too strong and only have option to quit and not technically "end" run and get rewards. 2: ability to change mind and continue endless. Sometimes I press end run by accident on level 20. I know this is my fault however it's annoying when it happens.
Value, Balance, Replayability. Initially, it just had a single track for music, then they updated it with several more great tracks. Some more music from the same composer is the biggest potential upgrade I can think of. As far as cons go, there's honestly nothing I can think of. I'm glad I bought this game, it will always be in my mobile game library. The only other mobile game I can say that about is Slay the Spire. Big props to the devs and congratulations on your success.
Brotato is a neat game. It's not one of those games that feels like a silly kids game. It's challenging right off the bat, and you can unlock different weapon types and Brotatoes with unique stats or abilities, each giving you some edge, but taking away something to keep the challenge up. After each wave weapons and items refresh and it's kinda the luck of the draw whether it will help you level up a weapon already in use or if you can get you lowest stats a bit higher.
This game is very fun and I wish I could rate it higher. However, there are certain characters and weapons that just are not possible to use because of bugs that the devs have known about for over a year. Knockback is unusable, and the buffer aliens buff well past what they do on PC. This leads me to believe either the devs do not care about the mobile version, as they have known about these bugs for so long. Don't expect to be able to use every play style on mobile. Other than that, good game
Great little game, but the mobile version is extremely hard compared to the PC version even when using a controller hooked up via Bluetooth. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't so difficult to see the difference between enemies. For some reason the mobile version all of them have blue hats... Even the eggs have a blue hat. Can you please update the characters to match the PC version? Thank you. Fantastic game otherwise.
Took me roughly a year to casually beat all characters on difficulty 5 without feeling repetitive. Fun to play, the characters are unique to play (one-armed provides a pretty fun challenge), and it's quick to boot up. Perfect choice for when you have a few minutes of downtime and want to chill. Oh, and there's no ads or microtransations on premium - just the game you paid for. Great stuff.
Changed from 5/5 to 3/5 for now for login issues. Last night after completing a 20-wave run, I was stuck on the Run Won screen with no results appearing. Nothing I pressed on my controller or screen could progress it. I had to Force Close the game and since then, even this morning and noon, when I launch Brotato, the game stays at the "Login..." screen. Is my (cloud) save corrupted or are the servers not working? Either way, I'm currently "hardlocked" out of the Premium version on any device.
Solid port of the desktop game, though somewhere around 6 months behind on updates. Of particular note is battery optimization is atypically good for a survivors-like. Be forewarned: they aren't fixing cloud sync. Google Play Games is compatible for saves on some devices but they don't care about fixing it for the rest. It has been a problem for over a year.
This game is incredible! I liked the free version so much that I bought premium and the DLC in a short period of time. I've needed a new phone game so much and this one takes the cake! There's so much to like about this game: engaging action, easy learning curve, great music, fun characters, excellent controls on mobile, great character progression (RPG like elements). I played the PC version of this game first; the premium mobile version is very similar to the PC version. Highly recommended!
Buyer beware: this is NOT the same as the PC version, there are many bugs and quirks that throw the balance COMPLETELY off. The worst change is that your weapons no longer attack individually, which is such a core part of the PC version to keep the hordes of enemies from overwhelming you. For some inexplicable reason, the mobile version makes all weapons attack at the same time. Cannot be overstated how much this throws the game balance out the window. A seriously flawed port of a great game!
I have the game on PC so decided to pick it up on mobile. I have been playing for a week or two fine, but now every time I try to play it stays on the login screen. I can hear the BG music but nothing else happens. I've cleared the cache/data, uninstalled/reinstalled, and launched the game while in airplane mode. So far nothing fixes it. Looking online I've found other people who are having the same issues. Stuck waiting for an update or hoping the game magically fixes itself.
I wanted to give this 5*. I even overlooked the fact that not everything available on Steam or PC is available on the app. However, when playing with Druid, a player can finish an entire wave and, because of how the game does resources, still lose the run bc your tater eats a bunch of cursed fruit. After you won the round. You lose. From something you cannot control. Additionally, the game is next to impossible to progress past Level 38. Not a skill issue. Check Reddit.
