So here's my take on Carve Quest. I've tested a bunch of these base-building/raiding games and this one stands out for the cool carving mechanic. The art style is really nice and it runs well even on older phones. And it's free-to-play, which is great - you don't feel pressured to spend money to enjoy it. But the progression does get grindy after a while, and the ads can interrupt the flow if you don't pay. Overall though, it's a pretty solid strategy game that scratches that itch for me.

Description

I’ve been playing Carve Quest for a couple months now. It’s basically an idle game where you build up your own little village, carve out statues and stuff, and then raid other players’ villages. Pretty solid if you’re into that kind of strategy game.

The way it works is you start off with a block of stone or wood or ice, and you can carve it into all sorts of cool statues and buildings. There’s also a whole system of troops and upgrades – you can train different fighters to defend your village or attack others. And you can team up with friends in clans to take down bigger bases. It’s got a good mix of afk progression and active planning.

Look, if you’re into mobile strategy games, you’ll probably dig this. It’s not perfect – the upgrades take forever at higher levels and the ads can get annoying – but overall it scratches that itch pretty well. Worth checking out if you want an addictive village-building game.
