Reviews for Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD

I was a big fan of the original games in the series so I was pretty pumped when I saw this. Initially it seemed like a great continuation of the series. The art was up a notch, gameplay was fun. But OMG the microtransactions are insane. Plan on spending $70+ to unlock all the content (eg towers) in the game, and that's before the consumable purchases that the game puts in an obnoxious, easily tapped part of the UI during levels

The game felt quite short. For $7, I didn't get any heroes or towers for free except for a very limited selection. It doesn't have the same feel as previous titles, and it seems like they aren't putting the same effort into the games anymore. Microtransactions have gotten worse, charging for additional towers. I'm worried this franchise isn't what it used to be. I purchased and completed the entire game, but it felt very incomplete for $7.

It's just not long enough. You can beat it in a couple hours max. On top of that, it's just the same game as all the others. If you want to use most of the towers and heroes expect to pay 50+ dollars. I hope they add more content, tweak, etc cause it is a good game currently, and a must play if you like the series, but overall not a great buy at the moment.

Probably least favorite in the series. It's crazy how the longer this game is out, the worse the games get. They decided to go with only 5 tower choices again, which I hate. In this game you get two heros, but also the levels have two paths, which were always my least favorite maps. Plus, even though you paid for the game, they keep trying to shove ads to pay for heros in you face way too often. This will probably be the last kingdoms rush game I buy. First two were great, third good. Last

My only concern is the save system. The game cloud saves and seems to be bad at it, as I have had issues where I complete a stage and then buy some upgrades, then close the game. When I come back, some of my progress is lost. Please fix this! Edit: the bug has gotten worse and I literally can't even play now. Every time I quit and come back all my pregression from my last play session is gone. I love this game but I can't play it so I guess one star until this is fixed.

I am a fan of all the kingdom rush saga, played all the 5 of them and other versions of it. This one, unlike others needs to be purchased. I paid the 10$ thinking it would be bigger, longer and greater than the others. All wrong. Yes, it has really good points resembling the others, but I totally recommend you to NOT BUY IT, just download kingdom rush origins, or the first one. They had longer campaign and infinite mode waves (this one does not have it, and it's not free!).

Diehard fan of the original Kingdom Rush & Frontiers. I've been playing and replaying for years. However, franchise has gone significantly downhill. Hard to put your finger on it, but graphically the game has gotten "busy". There's way too many towers now, too much in game purchases. It's nowhere as fun as the original games. I don't recommend it. It would be nice if the developers created expansion packs for the original games or allowed level creation with enemies that you could share.

Just one thing: the button to call waves early has to be tapped several times before it will work, it's frustrating. Er, also, I kind of wish there was an actual reward for beating a level at 3 stars, you're only rewarded with points if you pass at all, but if you replay & get more/3 stars you just earn gems which is the same reward for playing/replaying any level. Just bugs me. Other than that this was a really nice trip down memory lane, I really hope there will be more soon-still the best TD.

This series is one of the only games on my phone, I replay them frequently. On a side note, I've hit the restart button thousands of times, not getting any crystals at all despite rnd is rude xd. This game feels like if I gave the other games to an AI & asked for something new. I frequently hear repurposed voices, often at a different pitch. The levels are smaller & icons bigger. I preferred the graphics of Frontiers, the new style looks like a cheap gacha.

I had a lot of fun playing through this game! Beat the story had a good difficulty level and really improved on the game play by a lot! But what really bummed me out was how little you get if you don't spend any money. You get 4 heroes for free, but since you use two at a time and get two of them in the very beginning, it feels like you only unlock two. You get a decent amount of towers, but there were still a lot locked. And the worst part is if you want everything it costs 35 dollars!

I like this franchise. It's one of my favourite tower defense series, and pretty good for the standards of mobile games. But the difficulty spike is really extreme. I consider myself pretty good at TD strategy, and there are some levels which seem impossible to beat except by switching to the lowest difficulty setting or using items. I suspect this design choice is intentional, to try and drive micro transactions. When I've already paid for the game itself, I hate seeing that kind of design.

Game is not worth its $8 price tag. Shortest campaign in the entire series. Only took me 3-4 hours to beat the entire game. The microtransactions are also way out of hand. Out of 17 total heroes, you can only unlock 4 by just playing the game. Out of 19 towers, 10 are unlockable by playing. I love the original Kingdom Rush games, but it's sad to see one of my favorite game franchises become such a money grab.

The premium towers/heroes are too overpriced. Its entirely unfair pc players get to have everything unlocked just for paying a bit more. Bloons td 6 is vastly more successful and they don't charge you for towers or heroes. You are losing fans because of this. If i see this trend continue in your next TD game consider me part of that group. Anyways, the game is good. I don't think it's the best in the series but it is very fun.

I am enjoying Alliance so far! I have been playing Kingdom Rush since it was online a looong time ago. This version has been disappointing me a little bit since earning stars is separated from upgrades. I'm no longer incentivized to go back and play perfect matches or try challenge levels. However, the maps, towers, and enemies are great as usual!

the kingdom rush series has a deserved reputation for high quality TD games, so if that appeals to you, you should like this. It is a bit annoying that you pay for the app and there are still heroes, towers, and campaigns that you have to pay for, especially to have to pay as much as they want; if I'm seeing things correctly, it would cost another $58 on top of the $7 for the app to unlock everything. That said, it's still a good game and worth playing.

nowhere near as good as the first 3 games. i dont want to make in app purchases in a game that i paid for upfront. while the game can be completed without making any in-app purchase, its just boring and too hard. the lack of an encyclopedia, boring towers that you get without in-app purchases, and how few levels there are tells me that its not worth paying for this game to begin with. of course i wish i knew that before i paid for it. worst entry in the series, even worse than the previous game.

MONEY GRAB! The art and gameplay are what I want. However, there are issues: Progression: Other KR games did it better. there is no incentive to 3 star or perfect a level. progression is just "did you complete the main mission?" Micro transactions: way to many for a $7 game. Sell skins or large campaigns and have more towers/heroes that can be unlocked through challenges. Towers: Why is tower choice put to the outside of combat? put the choice back in combat. this leads to less choice in combat.

Game starts fun, but eventually, there doesn't seem to be a way to three-star things anymore. Then it slowly gets more and more frantic until it's just not fun anymore. Tower placement is chaotic, and by the 5th so level, you are now managing 4 spawn points and two paths. Way too early given what you have access to. When I lost what I think was the 5th level I had had enough and uninstalled. Just play Bloons, it is better thought out by far.

It's just a bunch of paid dlcs. If you want to play everything it costs as much as AAA pc game. Just absurd. These games use to be twenty dollars all in. The last two have just become money grabs. What's worse is they aren't as good as the the original three, that cost a fraction. Edit/response: your first three games had no paid dlcs and no paid towers. They were better games. They must have been profitable too, otherwise you would be out of business. This is just greed.

I have all the Kingdom Rush games and this one is definitely the worst. With the initial purchase of the game only about half the game is available to you. So many heroes, towers, and campaign levels are locked behind very expensive paywalls (most heroes and towers cost as much as the game itself). The update system was lacking. Overall, this iteration was very lackluster and didn't feel like the devs put much effort into it. Very unfortunate, because I really loved the previous versions
