Description

Been playing Majotori for a couple months now. It’s basically a really cool game that combines trivia with choose-your-own-adventure style stories. The premise is that if you make a wish, this witch character might show up and offer to grant it – but only if you can beat her in a trivia challenge. If you lose, something bad happens instead. Sounds pretty messed up, right?

There’s over 25 different characters and 50+ storylines to go through, with more than 1000 trivia questions covering stuff like video games, movies, anime, and more. It’s actually pretty tough – I’ve had a bunch of the characters die on me because I didn’t know enough about anime or whatever. But it keeps things interesting and makes you want to keep playing to see what happens next.

Overall, if you’re into quirky little narrative games and don’t mind getting quizzed on your geeky knowledge, Majotori is definitely worth checking out. It’s a pretty unique concept and the production values are solid. Just be prepared for some frustrating deaths if you, like me, don’t know everything there is to know about Japanese animation.

Editor Opinion

So here's my honest take on Majotori. I've tested a bunch of trivia and narrative-driven games, and this one's a pretty solid entry. The writing and branching storylines are really well done - it feels like a legit visual novel with some quiz elements thrown in. The trivia questions cover a good range of topics too, not just standard pop culture stuff.

Now, it's not perfect - the difficulty curve can be a bit unforgiving if you're not a total anime/movie/gaming expert. And the repetitive trivia can get a little old after a while. But overall, I'd say Majotori is a really cool and unique experience, especially if you're into that kind of thing. It's free to play and doesn't force you to spend money, which is always a plus in my book.
