It stopped connecting. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my phone or my headset, yet it still does not let me connect anymore. Nothing has changed since the first time I have connected. Clearly, it still works because it allows me to launch any games from this app, but it will not let me access the settings. I'm pretty sure it broke my Gorilla Tag Plush redemption code, too. I still have not received my plush cosmetic days after redeeming it.
Reviews for Meta Horizon
If this was any sort of OTHER company, setting up a VR headset would be INSIDE of the headset, but since this is Facebook, they absolutely want to take as much information from you as you can. Trying to set up an oculus go, got stuck waiting for a health and safety video to load, and gave up after 4 tries and a half a hour later. Why bother having a separate app if you aren't going to maintain it?
Primary user need is to access images and vids on headets, and transfer to gallery for editing, saving and deleting. This app gets access to gallery but doesn't save anything there. Cannot find the files anywhere on phone, so they are hidden and will eat up drive space, as you cannot manage the files for deletion. Clear violations, and ruins a very good product platform. Saved videos are mine, put them in my gallery and allow me to manage, save and edit them with my software.
Frequently Unresponsive. When you switch out of the app and then back in, it is usually unresponsive. You have to kill the app and restart it to keep using it. It also does not support phones with a notch very well, the top menu gets cut off in the middle. That said, it works well enough to do what it is supposed to do (setup Oculus Quest and buy games). Casting works pretty well if you have a strong wifi signal, but not at all if you don't.
This app is garbage. I just bought a $300+ device that I can't even use because I can't pair it to the app! This "leading tech company" can't even hire decent devs and make a functioning app. They're too worried about bells and whistles they've forgotten about the fundamentals. Go back to blue screens with giant pixilated font and basic text boxes until you can figure it out! Who cares about how pretty your app is if it crashes on start up on everyone's devices and no one can use your products?!
No problems with the app thus far. Seems to work fine. The headset & games are really cool!! What I don't like is the fact that even though my son is 11 he can't follow his friends to be able to play with them. He can on every other platform (Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Ipad etc...) They all can be restricted to a certain age range & the parent gets notified if they want to add a friend with my approval. I get the need for security but I really hope they fix this!!!
Edit: 3 stars to 1. The app is even worse now, the format don't fit to my screen anymore so I can't even search games to buy them. Almost to the point of selling the device and going with a different company. Was a great app until the recent update that made it way harder to use and find stuff. Also it won't let you do referrals anymore, when trying to post a referral it just puts a link to there store it does not add or show the game your posting a referral for. Fix the app and remove the bugs.
The app constantly freezes while I'm using it. It'll just decide to stop responding to touch input and it won't work at all until I close the app and reopen it. The store itself is also terrible, and doesn't seem to work in certain scenarios. For example, you can't use coupons if you have store credit, even though there's nothing in the terms and conditions that indicates that it isn't allowed. It'll also randomly just not accept coupons in general, even if you have a coupon available to use.
Zero customer support. Ok, there's an email address if you hunt around. I paid $700 for a Quest 3 and they can't even give me a phone number. They say they'll get back in 1-2 DAYS. I cannot create an account, login or anything. It keeps saying 'something went wrong', but there doesn't seem to be a solution. Why do I even need to use a mobile app anyway? I have two PCs right here....
Oh my GLOB! SHUT UP! I haven't touched my quest in a few months, and was thinking about getting back into it and decided to check the store, but the pompous app wouldn't go more than 5 bloody seconds without telling me to give it Bluetooth permissions in my phone. Like let me do it when I need it for something or at least after I charged up my Oculus. I'm just trying to read some reviews of games and the pop up has become more annoying than someone poking me in the eye repeatedly to wake me up.
