I've tested a bunch of adventure games on my phone, and Mt Durbar is a pretty solid addition to the genre. The story of the Gurkha soldier is interesting, and the mountain climbing gameplay is both challenging and beautiful to look at. It's not the most original concept, but the developers have done a nice job of putting their own spin on it. The strategic elements around planning your route and managing resources add a nice layer of depth. My main gripes are that it can get repetitive over time, and the free-to-play model is a bit heavy-handed with the ads and upgrades. But overall, if you're looking for an immersive adventure game with gorgeous visuals, Mt Durbar is definitely worth a download.

Description

Been playing Mt Durbar for a couple months now. It’s basically an adventure game where you play as a Gurkha soldier named Sagar Thapa, climbing through the mountains of Nepal and uncovering stories from his past. The graphics look really nice and the landscapes are beautiful – you’ll traverse towering peaks, serene lakes, and remote villages. There’s a good mix of platforming, light puzzle-solving, and narrative bits that keep it interesting.

It’s not just mindless climbing though – there’s a solid amount of strategy involved in picking your path and managing your resources. And you’ll need to plan your route carefully and make choices that impact Sagar’s story. Gets a bit repetitive after a while, but the story and sense of exploration kept me hooked.

Overall, if you’re into adventure games with a unique setting and some light RPG elements, Mt Durbar is worth checking out. It’s free to play, though the upgrade system can get grindy at higher levels. Not gonna lie, the ads can be annoying too if you don’t pay. But for the most part it’s a pretty solid mountain climbing game with an engaging narrative.
