Reviews for My OldBoy! - GBC Emulator

← Back to My OldBoy! - GBC Emulator

Downloaded my first game, used the app's save function and it didnt save anything. I wasnt too far in though so not a terrible loss, but in another circumstance this could be resolutely devastating. Otherwise I like the app. EDIT: I didn't look in the right place, so my save file was there. 5 stars!

It plays the GBC games I ask, and it does well. I like the onscreen button layout customization, and how more functions can be assigned than just button presses. I wish the dev team would add rewind. I understand that it creates more data overhead, but I still wish I had the option to allocate space for it. Many other emulators have it as a standard feature. I appreciate the ability to play linked with only one purchased edition from the store. Always my top recommendation for GBC emulator apps!

With the new update, I'm no longer able to play my games. When I open the app it's empty, and even when I try to select the "my oldboy" folder, it says my files were installed but there's nothing in the home screen. Please help, I really love this app and was happy to pay for it, very disappointed I can't play any longer 😥

Was great, but not so much anymore. I've enjoyed the paid version for a while, but recent updates have been removing my roms and save data to the point its almost not even worth keeping more than a game or two at a time. I would love to see them fix whatever is causing this so I can keep my save data and play more games.

I've used this emulator for over 10 years. It is the best on the market run smoothly. However, it frustrates me that you had to unnecessarily update it to remove not only the widgets , but the UI and where the downloaded games are located in their directories. If something isn't broken, don't fix it! Other than that, it's a very smooth emulator and I use it almost daily. Developers, please email me and bring back the widgets so I can go to my games from my main screen! Thank you

This was the best gaming app of all time. You were able to play any GBC game and access its save files. The other day i noticed there was an update to MyBoy where you werent able to play with your old save file!! So the same happened here!!!!! I lost almost 100 hour of pokemon crystal kaizo save!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe you guys!! Absolute garbage!

Got this app to perform trades on a pokemon game. Already had started on another emulator so tried to transfer save file. Turns out the dev moved save locations into the root so you can't transfer saves anymore. Many youtube videos said this was the app to get for this. Sadly they are mistaken. Dev, please fix.

Thought the free version was great, so I buy the full version. Even better. Features all work fine on every device I use, no bugs no crashing etc. Love the fact I can server and client my tab and phone together through Bluetooth and/or WiFi. This is well worth the purchase. Keep up the good work developers

I think it's great! Seems like there's some negative reviews about some 'advanced' features people would like - maybe I'm just not that 'hardcore' but this has everything I need! You can choose your layout (portrait or landscape), customize where the buttons are on your screen, and play games. I just wanted to play Pokemon, being able to customize the screen and buttons was just a great little touch (that's probably taken for granted). At any rate, not sure what more 'advanced' features you could want... It plays Gameboy ROMs, and does it beautifully!

Good but lacking features on the button layouts. It'd be nice to have a enable and disable sound button so I can listen to normal speed but have it off during fast speed. Or it could be a feature to auto disable sound in fast speed. And I think some more load and save buttons could be added where it's a hotkey for save to a slot or load from a slot. It's good just lacking nice features

Works pretty good, but could use some options in the cheats section. For example, the ability to send a cheat to the top of the list and drag to reorder would be quite welcome. Many codes are also very similar, so it would be nice to be able to have a duplicate option as well to quickly make and edit these extremely similar gameshark or other codes.

stores files in inaccessible root folders. extremely inconvenient. other emulators do not do this. wish I would have checked reviews first. this is a common complaint going back at least a year that has not been addressed.

The eShop on Nintendo 3DS is closing forever in May 2023 so I wanted to buy some games digitally that I never got around to buying. One of the games I wanted was the Zelda Oracle of Seasons + Ages GBC games, but the eShop doesn't take credit or debit cards right now, and linking my Switch account to my 3DS Nintendo Online ID to use a gift card keeps failing. Long story, long, buying the full version was cheaper than even trying to buy a copy from Nintendo. And they're probably the same ROM tbh.

A perfect GB/GBC emulator. Playing through the old Pokemon games, I can boot up two separate games and trade locally between the two. A huge money saver if you just want to play the games. Customisable controls that can be moved for finger comfort. Handy, built in save/load system. Fast Forward function, cheat insertion. Runs flawlessly. It's got it all. Well worth the money.

I gave you the 5 stars for fixing the original issue with saves but could you please address the fact It's impossible to find your in game saves. Not (save states.) Is it possible you can add a section within the app that lets you manage in game save files? If so it would be much easier to find and convert them. It's currently impossible on my phone.

I've used this app for years and the new update made it unusable. I've tried going into the folder to get the save files imported, but it overwrote the save file I currently had and replaced it with years old ones. All the games I collected over the years got deleted, and the app refuses to import half of my games. I get a notification that its an "invalid GBC file" when the games played fine before, and they still run on other emulators. The free version won't load saves without a paywall. RIP

My Oldboy! was the ultimate answer to GBC gaming, and this is coming from someone who owns multiple copies of the games, from original Gameboy copies to the more recent 3DS releases. You don't even have to buy the full version to use the awesome link feature, which is great cause my friends love GBC games too. My only gripe is that when printing cards from Pokemon TCG only the first part of the card is shown after selecting "save printing". Support the developers, buy the full version!

MyOldBoy is a great GB/GBC emulator. It plays all the games I can throw at it very well. The only thing I have an issue with is that it doesn't support A+B+START+SELECT as a control option or function. Some games, such as The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (DX), The Oracle of Seasons and The Oracle of Ages require this control input to save manually, and it functions as a reset command for the system itself. Add that, and it'll be perfect.

Best emulator ever. Let's keep in mind people if we have save files on one phone and you are trying to transfer them, it might not work due to the file format.....if it isn't a ZIP file, don't use it. Another thing about crashing......use the save feature that's on the game itself, not the emulator save file. That's how I lost my Pokémon file, using the emulator save feature. Too many soft resets and a crash is bound to happen. Try clearing cookies from ya browsers as well!

I was shot and killed by a swat team for pirating 20 year old games. Worth it. In all seriousness this app is great, definitely worth the $3.99 ($4.99? I can't even remember how much it costs). The controls layout being customizable is a huge plus, and the "cheat" code system is simple and easy to use. I hear its it's possible to do local online multiplayer, which I'm definitely going to have to try out asap.
