This is the most awesome game I've ever found for systems/pattern nerds. I have never gotten bored with this game, and it keeps challenging me. I would compare it to a kaleidoscope. There's a complex framework that is forever shifting the details in a way that keeps creating fresh game experiences. And you have a lot of freedom in how you can play it, as well. I do not recommend this game to anyone who isn't okay with sometimes getting stuck/losing. The puzzles are truly chaotic....
Reviews for Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen Castle
← Back to Puzzles & Chaos: Frozen CastleThis game should be called "Chaos and More Chaos, Spend Money Please." It was fun at first, but then as the game progresses, it adds more and more (and more and more!) "opportunities" for you to spend money. it gets to where 1/4 of your screen is covered in icons trying to get $ that you can't make go away. Plus the game itself rapidly becomes the most chaotic thing I've seen in a while. Light on the puzzles, heavy on the chaos and the pay-to-win.
The tutorial is too long and EXTREMELY obnoxious. Sure it's important for people who have never played a game like this before but there should be an option to opt out of it. The pay wall comes too fast too which slows down your progress to an impossibly slow speed. Not worth it
This has got to be the most bloated, meandering, pointless and over stuffed game I've ever played. No wonder they are paying people to play it. The ridiculous amount of things it tries to be, a battle game, a match game, a quest game, a resource game. It's like a bad Evony wrapped in in a worse Candy Crush with ridiculously overlengthy story. Just awful.
WAS having a fair amount of fun with this game until I got attacked by yet another player that probably spent hundreds of dollars to get the, essentially paywalled, units. About two days worth of resources gone because I decided to do something in meat-space for a bit. Great. Something needs to be done about the higher level players using the lower leveled players as free resources, because most of the people in my alliance seem to be permanently leaving after a few attacks.
nothing at all like the demos show. everything is too damn expensive. predatory practices and overly expensive items. most skins and cosmetic items end up costing 1000 dollars plus. legal extortion, in my opinion. stay away. especially if you have a gambling problem. its designed to get you hooked and drain all your money. none of the screenshots or demos accurately portray the game WHATSOEVER. total bait and switch. and everything is pay to play. designed to drain your wallet fast. avoid
I don't hate it, but I don't like their practices. Everything in the shop always appears "marked down" when in reality it's the real price, a practice that is kinda illegal in the US shops. Many special events you can't reasonably win all the prizes without paying absurd amounts of money, and the prices are pretty unreasonable most of the time. It would cost 3000 USD in diamond purchases to get one bonus skin. If they make some changes to how they do business maybe id rate better.
Very mid, nothing really feels new and it feels like a game I've played a million times under a million names. The intro/tutorial is also so long, one of my biggest pet peeves about games, if I was listening to the (Also mid) voice acting, it probably would've taken like 30 minutes for the first part of the tutorial. It's not unique, the art style feels super basic, and also a VIP system, the worst kind of system for mobile game since it always feels predatory.
Fun game, great people in alliances (most the time). The devs are greedy, money hungry a holes though. There are events JUST for spending money and the last one was $5,000 dollars for the thing they were pushing. And we log in today to an event we all know and love to find out they completely changed the rules and made it impossible to play without spending money. No Warning, just random change. Do better.
STAY AWAY! The developers of this game offer 0% assistance for game play issues. The game has been glitching, and there is no way to get assistance from its irrevelant support bot or customer service in-game or by email. Hence, the useless response below. As I clearly mentioned, there is no way to get support. This is the exact example of what you can expect ,their response further proved my point.
they game plays fine but all the cool effects and stuff require you to spend hundreds of dollars to get. For instance, doing events to get castle skins and castle effects you can attack monster but only get like 10 points per but the item costs 1000s of points to acquire and your max stamina is only 120 (45 stamina per attack) and it takes hours to replenish with the event only available for like 2 days. no way to get it. even to purchase points to get us like 50 usd to get only 120 points.
It is quite interesting but way too much information and too much going on. Over half the time, I don't even know or understand what I'm doing. 😂 I just do some quests stuff and help people in my alliance. However, an interesting game I think. UPDATE: After nearly 2 months of playing, I've changed my rating from 4 stars to 2. This is because the events are impossible and only whales (those who spend a shitload of money) get to enter the rankings. A lot of the events literally require money.
Tries to be too many things and does none of them well. Puzzles are only battling with just heroes and have poor AI. They basically exist to get people to pay for more champs than the ones needed for troops. Resources production doesn't scale to level requirements which will make many quit when they hit a resource paywall. Server war matching is ridiculous meaning there's no reason to grow. They don't care. The game is a mess of too many events, half of which require lots of money.
tutorial is super obnoxious and (painstakingly) too long. won't let you choose ANY of the moves during the first battles and won't let you look at your profile or anything before it gives you a way too specific run down of what you're supposed to do. character designs are mid, especially the female character designs (which is expected for this type of game) . dialogue is kind of weird. the vibe of this game gives off ai.
They don't let you access the options until after the tutorial, which is unnecessarily long and obnoxious. You can't skip ahead, only small parts of the dialogues. If you don't skip in time, you're locked into the cinematics and can't skip at all. If you're neurodivergent and have auditory issues, skip this. It's NOT neurodivergent-friendly.
The developers keep making random changes to the game and then having to fix mistakes or bugs that occurred from the changes. The game also gets increasing harder to play for free since more and more events require quite a bit of money to be spent to get any rewards much less any good ones. Is a good place to find a sense of community though if you look around and find a group that works well with you and you enjoy being around.
After 20 minutes I was still literally only hitting what the game let me hit in the name of an utterly ridiculous tutorial. I found myself not paying attention to literally anything in hopes I could actually push through and make a choice as to what piece to play. If it weren't a bog standard match 3 (if claimed it wasn't in the ads but it is at least after these 20 minutes) maybe I could see that, but the gameplay concepts were both nothing new and instantly intuitive for anyone who is new. ugh
I never saw an ad for this game. I saw a splash screen for this game on a beer money app, so I figured I might as well try it. It's a city building game where you gather resources, improve your city, build an army, collect heroes, battle with your heroes in match-three combat, and wage war with your armies. The game has a lot of depth for a mobile game and I was lucky enough to join a very powerful alliance, so I'm having fun. It's too bad the ads are misleading, because the actual game is good.
tutorial after tutorial, can't find a way to turn it off and even if I did the damn tutorial would stop me from doing it with all the popups. rediculous that they think we need a 30 minute, maybe longer I don't know, tutorial with a lame story you're forced to go through. it's a match 3+ game, it's not that hard to figure out, especially when you highlight everything that's available to use. if you want to make this game great, turn off the tutorial or at least give option to turn it off
Avoid Spending Money on Any Game by 37Games Let me start by saying this: the game itself isn’t bad. It’s actually decent for passing the time. However, do not spend any money on it. If anything goes wrong with a purchase, you're likely to get scammed into paying even more than you intended edit: How do you even get through to the in game customer service??? All there is is a AI bot to waste more of my time. Thanks for even more frustration!
