Reviews for The Tower - Idle Tower Defense

This game is as excellent as advertised. Gameplay starts simple, there's an allure to playing strategically as situations change. Ads are optional, making this one of the few games that doesn't make you feel like your worth as a gamer comes from your wallet. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try this style of game.

This game could be great. However having game that is this slow paced. I am tier 1, wave 750 of 4500 and 3.5 game speed. A single run is 2 hours??? When you get to wave 4500 do you have to sit your phone idle for 72 hours? I'm less then a week into the game also. This game is completely worthless alread, I can't imagine end game play. I wasted my 9.99 to disable ads too.

been playing this game for a while. investing money. it's not pay to play.. but paying players definitely get an edge.. Come to realize that the tournament system, which earns the most valuable currency in the game.. "stones" is completely broken. there is no upward mobility for a new player... it's literally standing in line and waiting for the people in front of you to die of old age.. don't waste your time, money, or energy on this game.. it's literally a waste..

P2P (Pay to Progress) but want a tower def game? It's free but the time sink to improve without spending money is a deal breaker. Did you see all those fancy things in the preview trailers? You won't get those things for AGES. It will be the simple attack for ages. Without spending money your progress will be almost non existent. I gave it a 2 vs 1 as it IS fun but the grind is faaaaaaar to grindy for this kinda game.

This could be a really fun game. Sadly progression is extraordinary slow. I get having it be a little slow like you dont want people to be at lvl 100 in 20 minutes but ive played this for days and I can barely hit wave 30. Waves take like 30 seconds too. Itd be different if it was like 3 minute waves then 30 would be good. When you start you make it to 15 or so. Some of the upgrades are terrible as well. Like you spend all of you income on increasing coins earned from 1.01 to 1.02.

the AI synopsis of the reviews is spot on. progression is a slog and the grind is painful. in app purchases are also extremely overpriced which makes it so i will never pay for anything due to that. @dev: you really need to consider that lower prices will probably make you more money, and if you make the grind more rewarding to keep people playing so they have a chance to spend money before giving up on the game. the game is fun when you get into it, but you punish yourself to get there..

Fun but very linear Apparently 'practically unlimited combinations' means 'you have to buy every upgrade in the order I tell you to.' I was kind of hoping all the upgrades would be laid out in front of me, then I could just buy whichever seemed best. It's like you told everyone you were selling a cook book but there was really only 1 recipe. Very disappointing. Game was still fun though. If you like tower defense it's worth installing. Ads are not too egregious, they only play if you click.

I like the clean design and how the different progression systems work together. I think the pace of the progression is incredibly slow to start with and I imagine a lot of players just stop playing because it's difficult to see that you're improving. Also with any game that uses optional Ads to get additional currency, you have to make certain they work properly. Too often an ad will not run or not close when it's over and the player is just out of luck and wasted their time.

This is a pretty solid game overall, it kinda takes some time to warm up to it's potential, but then it's good. I would have four stars but it really feels like some integral things are missing: There's no sound effects for attacks, killing enemies, etc. and that feels very absent to me. (I wanna hear an inception style Bwoooom whenever my death lazer activates!) Also, while some grind is expected, it does start to feel pretty tedious in between breakthroughs.

This game is an awesome idea, but is too slow to process. I really enjoy the game play. However, Most people dont have hours to sit by to passively click every once in awhile just to make it a few more levels, only to restart. they need to consider how you level up or progress through differently to keep you engaged in wanting to win and see what comes next. I don't normally leave reviews, but felt this game has so much potential and hope the development team finds this helpful.

Fun game. Definitely not a true idle (though there is offline progression through research), it does need some attention to succeed. For the more nerdy crowd, you can certainly do the math to optimize. Four stars because I'm about a week in, playing just a few rounds per day, and my rounds are 3+ hours each! (This is at 3x game speed.) Some quality of life consideration does need to be made from the dev team, because that is unsustainable.

Same complaint as most. It's a great concept, but the pace is horrendously slow. You'll have to grind the same first 30 levels 150 times before being able to progress. That being said, there won't be a fix as it uses the pace to pinch you into spending real money, rather than using real money because you want to support a game that's given you that level of enjoyment. Thanks, but no thanks, The Tower.

Everything about this game is pretty great aside for the pace, and even that would be okay if it would run in the background. It will only play if it's an active window, and it needs to play a LOT to make any significant progress. Early on, this means babysitting it, but later you can mostly let it run by itself while your phone is charging or whatever. But aside for that major annoyance, the many aspects of the game build on each other really well.

The game requires a lot of time investment and is very hostile to f2p. But the worst part was, they have an unresolved bug where you are perpetually stuck on an offline error page. No solution worked and I lost all my progress. Highly not recommended unless you have money to throw (and even then, it must be consistent spending for a game with minimal features.)

While it takes SO long to get better and it's quite frustrating that I can barely get to wave 30, I enjoy the challenge. I feel like a lot of simulation games give you the good stuff early to keep you going, but the issue is after a few days you find yourself underwhelmed by your power, here I can grind for weeks and still be interested. Plus, the ads are so relieving and how a game SHOULD use them: unforced and only for optional upgrades. As an ADHD haver, thank you.

I installed this app a few months ago to try a new tower defense game. The "idle" aspect interested me as I haven't played any idle games. However, this game is NOT an idle game (save for the research aspect). The game needs to be actively running on your device in order to progress. This leads to running the game overnight just to progress. It was clearly made to run on device emulators. It can be fun, but it is painfully slow and too time intensive. I have bought many microtransactions.

I want to enjoy this game. I really do. The core gameplay loop is fun. The UI is clean. I even paid $10 to remove the ads, because $10 is a reasonable price for the game. Therein lies the problem. The game is an abysmal grind if you don't spend more money. You must spend $40 to increase coin generation to a reasonable speed. There is also a $10 battle pass and the $99 gem option. It's clear the developer has the capacity to make a fun game, but you can get Elden Ring and DLC for this price.

While the game is beyond extremely painfully slow, I used to at least enjoy it when I had no Internet connection. As of lately I've noticed this game now requires a connection to play! Was OK while it lasted. been a good run for a few years. Only bother if you want a game slower than most mmos progression! It is likely to continue to get worse over time as well.

It's a mediocre minimalist tower defense game that is designed to be painfully slow in progression. This glacial progression (and I mean in some cases we are talking hundredths and thousandths of *a percent* increase to stats which is further convoluted by the dozen types of in-game currency) is all about pushing you into spending money, and some of the in-app purchases are $100! Nothing but a cash grab.

The game takes forever to get going but once it does it's fun for a little bit. however, you kinda have to let it run itself overnight to continue progressing because even with fake speed at its peak it's so slow. I lost my progress when they had some server issues, I'm locked out of the game because I can't create an account, support told me to create a new account and I'd rather just not play than restart, definitely wasted money on the ad free because I can't even play the game
