This game is as excellent as advertised. Gameplay starts simple, there's an allure to playing strategically as situations change. Ads are optional, making this one of the few games that doesn't make you feel like your worth as a gamer comes from your wallet. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try this style of game.
Reviews for The Tower – Idle Tower Defense
This game could be great. However having game that is this slow paced. I am tier 1, wave 750 of 4500 and 3.5 game speed. A single run is 2 hours??? When you get to wave 4500 do you have to sit your phone idle for 72 hours? I'm less then a week into the game also. This game is completely worthless alread, I can't imagine end game play. I wasted my 9.99 to disable ads too.
been playing this game for a while. investing money. it's not pay to play.. but paying players definitely get an edge.. Come to realize that the tournament system, which earns the most valuable currency in the game.. "stones" is completely broken. there is no upward mobility for a new player... it's literally standing in line and waiting for the people in front of you to die of old age.. don't waste your time, money, or energy on this game.. it's literally a waste..
P2P (Pay to Progress) but want a tower def game? It's free but the time sink to improve without spending money is a deal breaker. Did you see all those fancy things in the preview trailers? You won't get those things for AGES. It will be the simple attack for ages. Without spending money your progress will be almost non existent. I gave it a 2 vs 1 as it IS fun but the grind is faaaaaaar to grindy for this kinda game.
This could be a really fun game. Sadly progression is extraordinary slow. I get having it be a little slow like you dont want people to be at lvl 100 in 20 minutes but ive played this for days and I can barely hit wave 30. Waves take like 30 seconds too. Itd be different if it was like 3 minute waves then 30 would be good. When you start you make it to 15 or so. Some of the upgrades are terrible as well. Like you spend all of you income on increasing coins earned from 1.01 to 1.02.
the AI synopsis of the reviews is spot on. progression is a slog and the grind is painful. in app purchases are also extremely overpriced which makes it so i will never pay for anything due to that. @dev: you really need to consider that lower prices will probably make you more money, and if you make the grind more rewarding to keep people playing so they have a chance to spend money before giving up on the game. the game is fun when you get into it, but you punish yourself to get there..
Fun but very linear Apparently 'practically unlimited combinations' means 'you have to buy every upgrade in the order I tell you to.' I was kind of hoping all the upgrades would be laid out in front of me, then I could just buy whichever seemed best. It's like you told everyone you were selling a cook book but there was really only 1 recipe. Very disappointing. Game was still fun though. If you like tower defense it's worth installing. Ads are not too egregious, they only play if you click.
I like the clean design and how the different progression systems work together. I think the pace of the progression is incredibly slow to start with and I imagine a lot of players just stop playing because it's difficult to see that you're improving. Also with any game that uses optional Ads to get additional currency, you have to make certain they work properly. Too often an ad will not run or not close when it's over and the player is just out of luck and wasted their time.
This is a pretty solid game overall, it kinda takes some time to warm up to it's potential, but then it's good. I would have four stars but it really feels like some integral things are missing: There's no sound effects for attacks, killing enemies, etc. and that feels very absent to me. (I wanna hear an inception style Bwoooom whenever my death lazer activates!) Also, while some grind is expected, it does start to feel pretty tedious in between breakthroughs.
This game is an awesome idea, but is too slow to process. I really enjoy the game play. However, Most people dont have hours to sit by to passively click every once in awhile just to make it a few more levels, only to restart. they need to consider how you level up or progress through differently to keep you engaged in wanting to win and see what comes next. I don't normally leave reviews, but felt this game has so much potential and hope the development team finds this helpful.
