7/7/24 - Several changes in the last year have undermined the platform's purpose. It was originally a simple place to connect with your friends, but now they have added unremovable celebrity account suggestions and even ads in the feed. I get that they want to make money somehow, but this seriously damages the warm, simple feeling of the app. I'm not sure if I would still recommend it to others.

App freezes constantly. Super frustrating. The same thing is happening to my group of friends and if you read the reviews here, it's happening to everyone. Screen goes black when trying to open the app after the notification. After a few hard stops, it my work but it's always late to posting even though we send within the time frame.

Still have the same issues as before. I stopped receiving consistent notifications. Also, once again a social media platform has added stupid celebrity ads that make me want to delete the app! I am slowly getting rid of social media, so perhaps BeReal is gone too.... Also, when I click on the bereal notifications that do sometimes pop up, the app will not open and will just stay a black screen. The point is to be on time....I can't do that if the app doesn't work :/

I love Bereal. It's so fun. But the thing is for Andriod it doesn't have Fast Camera. I've updated the app, deleted it and downloaded it back. Whenever I take the selfie it doesn't take it right away, the box turns black and it takes a few seconds to actually take the selfie so you can't see what you look like. It's really annoying. Please fix it, or just give Andriod fast camera option.

When I take a BeReal it doesn't post then I have to post a new one late. BeReal goes off at the same time everyday, it never goes off later in the day anymore. When I click on the notification it opens up a black screen and I have to open and close the app multiple times to get it to work. It never works through the notification anymore. Everyone I know with BeReal is having the same issues.

I love bereal, but sometimes it doesn't let me post so I lose my streak. When I hit the post button, it just loads forever and won't post. I lost my 356 streak from this. Also, there are many updates that are happening but not on my end. I go to the app store and there isn't an update button on the app. An example is the roulette and the video, I do not have these things which is really disappointing. Other than that, it's a great way to connect with other people and share your experiences.

I really used to like this app. It's a great concept to see what people are up to, and limiting the amount of time on it. But now it's having a problem when the notification goes off. It lets me take a picture, but it says that the upload failed. It doesn't give me the option to retake, and the refresh arrow won't work. It's frustrating because it cancels your streak of days in a row. At first I thought it was bc I had bad service, but it happens even if I am connected to wifi or have good data.

Broken experience. After re-installing a few times to make sure it want my pixel 7 pro, I'm here to state that posting is broken. Over the last month or so, I've routinely experienced posting failures where I take my photo in the 2-minute window, the little upload animation happens, and then it shows the don't forget to take your daily window. If I take it a second time it usually goes through. It's super annoying especially when I'm trying to capture something in that brief 2-minute window.

Love the app. It is great to socialize with friends who live at home or far away. But for whatever reason, I haven't been able to receive the BeReal notification for the past month or so on my phone. Notifications are allowed in permissions in the app's sertings, I've cleared the cache, my time zone hasn't changed at all, the app isn't restricted on data usage or battery usage. Nothing is wrong with the app itself, I just tend to forget about it since I can't get notifications for it.

Been using it probably a year now and mostly love it... But lately it's been buggy. For a month or so, I've not gotten any sound notification half the days. Or it posts late when I wasn't late. And for the last week, when I click on the notification it gives a black screen and I have to close and reopen the app. I have a Google pixel 7. 8May2024

It's a fun app to see what my friends are up to and see the yearly recap. HOWEVER, lately, when I post, I have to retake the picture because my first one disappears immediately. I also do not appreciate the new ads. I've gotten scam ads, too! It's frustrating because one of my favorite things about the app was not seeing any ads. 😞 On top of that, they have released fun new features to Apple, but not Android.

I used to LOVE this app to stay in touch with my friend overseas. But over the past few months it's become useless. sometimes I don't get popups at all, sometimes my photo doesn't upload, and recently my alarm tone doesn't go off at all. I still get the notification, but I can't hear it so I'm always late. they also changed the alarm tone anyway so it's already much quieter. sad bc I have a super long streak. I'm seriously considering deleting this because it's becoming too much to worry about.

this app was really fun, but lately it has been removing my streak, I went from having over 300, to 43, and now it's reset again to 3, I have been posting every day, I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, I've sent in a ton of tickets but they deleted them and never responded, so I'm about to just delete the app since the issue remains unresolved.

I would say full stars, because 1. no issues 2. really easy to find people 3. super fun and nice! there is one issue, and that is some certain people are scammers. when i first got the app, someone reached out to me with no backround info on who they were, they just asked "can I paint you?" from the start I was like "of course!" but when she started to explain prices, she first said it was like over $900.. and then proceeded to ask for my address and other extremely personal information!

June 2025 update: the app is basically broken on Proton VPN and keeps hitting my location services. Can only imagine how much data they're trying to harvest for sale. I don't know if the notification problem is still a thing because I've trained myself to never click them. Love the idea, and it's great when it works. However, alerts are inconsistently on time, and it has gotten into the habit of just ignoring anything I do by responding to a notification. Feels like it defeats the purpose.

I really like the app, but after a while, IT WOULDN'T SEND THE NOTIFICATION WHEN IT WENT OFF. So then I miss out. It's been an entire week now, and it's been the same thing. I made sure I'm not on do not disturb and the notifications are on, and they are. I hare being late, so it's kinda disappointing when I miss it.

I've really enjoyed Bereal, I'd give it 5 star review. I loved using it as a simple app that prompted me to take pics and connect with family and friends without ads. Then they added ads, and it dropped to a one star. Haven't really used it much since. It does seem that they addressed some of my concerns about ads, so I'll give it 4 stars. it just doesn't quite feel the same that it used to after experiencing more corporate greed in the platform.

I love the concept of the app and I enjoyed it for a very long time. I like being able to keep of with friends in other states. But lately, it's been more annoying than enjoyable. It's very buggy. There are days at a time where I don't receive the notification, and now my memories aren't showing up and everything I try to post a bereal, it deletes it and says I need to post a late one. I've restarted my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and noting is working.

I love that it encourages sharing your real life instead of a curated highlight reel. I like that it shows you a personal monthly recap. I don't like that photos disappear the next day. I wish the history of all my posts/photos could be seen by my friends when they visit my profile. I don't understand the point of making the photos ephemeral. I wish I could write a longer caption/description for photos. I don't know how many characters it caps at, but it's quite low.

I love the concept of this app, and it used to work great. But lately it has been sooo buggy. I sometimes never get notifications that it's time to take a photo or I get notified late. Yesterday, the notification came 12 full minutes after the actual "time" went off, so I was already late when it told me to post. Often, I have to retake photos several times before it accepts it, and it keeps crashing when I try to open it to take a photo. It's no longer a fun app because it just doesn't work.
