If I want to rewatch a series. The auto play starts at the end of the episode. I have to delete my viewing data every time I watch a series. This is sub-par programming. This is across all platforms to watch hulu. I'm highly annoyed that I can't just leave the TV on, and it will auto play properly. I spend the same amount using any service, and I dont have this issue.
Reviews for Hulu: Stream TV shows & movies
← Back to Hulu: Stream TV shows & moviesIt's the same ads for depression, allergy, eczema, weight loss and HIV prescription meds over and over and over again, an ad within the first 5 minutes of the start of the movie or show, if you rewind past an already watched ad spot, another ad! If you're in the middle of a very tense or important part of your show, no worries here's a 2 min ad! 2 mins before the end, another ad! Subtitles are slow or non-existent, and the app likes to log me out for no apparent reason in the middle of watching
The "choose your own ad" experience is really annoying and needs to be forgotten about. Just play an ad and be done with it. I'm not paying attention to them either way. This just slows down how fast I get back to what I was watching. And before an automated message suggests upgrading to the ad free version, no, I'm not paying more for a service when the current price I pay should already have no ads.
The app never works without an issue. it doesn't save your place, you have to rewatch commercials, it freezes and dumps you out. Subtitles don't work properly. it's always a problem. I've tried every suggested solution and nothing works. I don't have the issue with any other app. I'll just watch them. I cancelled - not worth the headache.
It was difficult to watch The Handmaid's Tale because the subtitles are out of sync often and parts of the dialogue were hushed with lots of loud noise. Plus you can't pause a show within the last few minutes or it'll restart the episode when you try to resume. It also often kicks you off saying they're having difficulty playing this title, but it'll usually play after refreshing. They do have a lot of great shows. Ad free... with exceptions. The user interface has improved since my original sub
More commercials than programs. At the end/ beginning of every show there's 2-3 commercials over a minute each 2 minutes before the end, then again in between, and a third time 2 minutes in to the next episode. Not to mention the several times in middle of the show and never on predetermined commercial breaks. The app also skips around and starts over and makes you watch even more ads than what's reprogrammed. Every time you close you lose episode progress as well. Absolutely terrible app.
It has some decent stuff on it, but the user interface seems to be lacking very badly. Almost every other time I turn my TV on and try to click the Hulu app. It crashes while I'm trying to scroll through shows and then it'll just randomly crash while you're watching. It's almost like every other streaming service could easily figure out how to not make this happen, but Hulu is making it seem like it is rocket science. They are turning it into rocket science to not constantly crash.
I have the ad free sub. Come to find out that's not truly what it sounds like. It's ad free on hulu original content. When you ask them they tell you all third party has ads. They give a link to an article that says third party has ads before and after the episode. That would be ok if it was true, but we get 3-4 ads a time lasting almost 4 min long. So ad free is really not ad free.
I love paying for a streaming service with ads - it reminds me of the cable service I got rid of! Having my recently watched shows at the top was too convenient - good thing they moved it to a spot below a comical amount of recommendations. Casting was WAY too reliable. Thankfully, I haven't been able to use this feature since the recent update. This, humiliatingly for Hulu, has been an on/off problem for over 7 YEARS. Thankfully, the Chromecast app doesn't function, so Netflix stays on my TV
I love Hulu, got a subscription and it works great! No ads, free to watch. However.. this is being a two star rating. Let me explain why. It has logged me out of my account many times. It doesn't save sometimes when I leave out of my episodes. I let these two slide for a bit, but those are the minimum problems. Now, I can't watch any show without the show freezing up and glitching out. Nothing works, logging out doesn't help and it only streams good on my TV...
Hulu is another rip off just like Amazon prime. I keep finding YouTube shorts of videos "only shown on here" just like some only shown on Amazon and Netflix for "only so much a month"! What they fail to tell you is the shows that come with the paid subscription are all older shows and movies or unpopular shows and movies. BUT! If you pay them even more, then will you be able to see the shows you want to see. If you're trying to watch something they're promising, plan on paying extra to rent it
The Hulu app is fairly decent on a mobile device, but terrible on tvs. Recordings are impossible to delete & voice is never in sync with video. Also, Hulu keeps losing good shows to other platforms. Every time we like a show and watch it for a year or two, suddenly the show is bought out by Paramount+ or another subscriber platform. Hulu keeps going up on price but has less and less of the popular programs available and terrible technology. Disney is going to put itself out of the market.
I have left feedback after feedback and emailed support and they STILL haven't fixed the issue!!! If you rely on closed captioning, this app will do your head in if you cast from your device to your television. The captions are WAY behind what they are saying. By the time the caption comes up, the program is already on to the next scene. I pay them a lot of money for this to not work right. Where the hell is tech support?!?!?!? FIX THIS POS!!!I Til it's fixed, don't bother.
I'm giving 1 star because your subtitles suck. I mainly watch K dramas, and I watch them on multiple apps, and I have to say, subtitles are really , REALLY bad on your app. Half of the time they don't appear and I'm left not knowing what was said. Or they're so quick , it's just a flash on the screen. For the amount of money you charge to use the app, you should have way better quality subtitles. It also glitches, a lot.
I pay for the ad free version and still get ads. Greedy, terrible company and then Disney bought it and it got worse. They slowly raise prices as not to shock you with big jumps in price so you don't notice how much they are screwing you. What a rip off! Also, the app has been working incorrectly more frequently as of late. I regularly have to restart the app and clear my cache to be able to use it. In summary it's becoming a more expensive product while simultaneously becoming worse.
The app randomly signed me out on mobile over a month ago, and I haven't been able to sign back in since. Every login attempt I get an error message saying "Something went wrong. Try again?" What is the point of having a subscription plan to allow watching on 2 devices at once if it never works??? Not to mention the amount of outages in the last month.
The app has so many bugs, and even with clearing cache and data, it still doesn't work right. After an episode of a show is over, the app freaks out and is unable to play the next episode. And when I manually click to play the next episode, it starts replaying the episode I've already watched. Something so simple was screwed up 2 updates ago and has yet to be fixed. Do better, or I will be canceling your service!
The first 14-15 years of this app (or however long it's been out) have been fantastic. Unfortunately, I've been forcibly logged out several times a day for about 3-4 months now with no explanation. Hulu claims this has been normal if logged in on multiple (2+) devices, yet it's never happened before. It's not only annoying, but defeats the purpose of paying for the ability to download as the logging out process deletes all downloads, and in areas with no service, there is no alternative.
This app doesn't keep your place. So you have to skip around to find it. An ad break with every click of the screen. I've watched up to 10 minutes of ads, just to find where I left off. Worse, it signs you out of the app while watching. In the middle of a show, it just throws you out. Then emails that someone signed in to your acct each sign-in. Edit..Now they've taken up the same "cause" as Disney. One that I want no part of. And I certainly won't support it with my money. Last straw. I'm out.
The amount of ads in this PREMIUM subscription service is nuts as well as their placement. You can be watching an old show that has natural breaks for commercials but they'll stick ads in the MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE. Then, after watching multiple minutes of ads, you rewind to watch the scene uninterrupted and guess what? The ads replay at the exact same spot. And then, less than 5 minutes later, multiple more ads. I paid for a subscription to watch content. Not constant ads. Unsubscribing.
