Been playing this Blackbird game for a couple months now. It’s basically a classic trick-taking card game, kind of like Rook. You compete against the computer, bidding to declare trump and take tricks. There’s also different rule sets you can play with, like Kentucky Discard or Western Wyoming. Here’s what you do: You build up your deck and try to hit your bid to score points. There’s also bonus points for taking the most tricks. It’s got a nice variety of features like being able to adjust the game winning score or whether the Blackbird card is worth extra points. Took me a while to figure some of that out, but it’s useful once you get the hang of it.
Look, if you’re into strategy card games, you’ll probably like Blackbird. It’s not perfect – the ads can get a little annoying if you don’t pay – but overall it does the job pretty well. Worth checking out if you want a new twist on the classic trick-taking gameplay.
