The level of complexity and customization is impressive - there are tons of buildings, resources, and upgrades to mess around with. It's deep without being overwhelming. I also really like the clan system, where you can team up with friends to attack other villages. Makes it more social and competitive. On the downside, I will say the late-game grind can get a bit old after a while, and the ads do get intrusive if you don't pay. But if you don't mind those issues, it's a great free-to-play option in this genre.
