So here's my take on ClassDojo. I've tested a bunch of education apps and this one's pretty solid. The behavior tracking and parent communication features are really well done. And helps create that positive classroom culture. But it's not without its issues - the interface can be a bit confusing at first, and I found the student portfolio thing kind of underwhelming. Still, for teachers and parents looking to stay connected, this is a pretty good option.

Pros

  • Tons of tools for teachers to encourage good behavior
  • Parents can see what's happening in the classroom
  • Lets students build their own digital portfolio
  • Free to use, don't need to pay for the basics

Cons

  • Messaging features are a bit clunky
  • Student portfolio could be more robust
  • Takes a while to get the hang of all the features

Description

Been using ClassDojo for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that helps teachers and parents build a positive classroom community. There’s tools for teachers to encourage good behavior, and parents can see what their kids are up to at school.

Here’s what you can do – teachers can give students points for things like ‘working hard’ or ‘teamwork’. There’s also a feed where teachers can share photos and updates from the classroom. And students can add their work to a digital portfolio that parents can see at home.

Look, if you’re a teacher or parent, you’ll probably find this app pretty useful. It’s not perfect – the messaging tools can be a little clunky sometimes – but overall it does the job of keeping everyone connected. Worth checking out.

I really really really need there to be notifications for when the teacher assigns things, because our class discussions sometimes correspond with Dojo prompts, but sometimes they don't, and because...
