So here's my take on the iRobot Home (Classic) app. I've tested a bunch of smart home/robot vacuum apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The features are comprehensive without being overwhelming, and I like how it integrates with Alexa and Google Assistant. The cleaning scheduling and room/zone controls are super useful. But it's not without its issues - the mapping can be spotty and the cleaning reports are a bit basic. Still, if you've got an older Roomba or Braava, this is probably the best app to control it. Definitely better than trying to use the physical buttons on the robot itself.

Pros

  • Tons of useful features like scheduling, room/zone cleaning, and smart home integrations
  • Easy to use and navigate, even for less tech-savvy users
  • Integrates well with older iRobot vacuums and mops
  • Free to download and use the basic functions

Cons

  • Mapping and reporting features could be more advanced
  • Can be a little glitchy at times, especially with the maps
  • Ads can get annoying if you don't pay for the premium version

Description

Been using the iRobot Home (Classic) app for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you control your Roomba, Braava, or Klaara robot vacuum cleaners. Pretty solid if you’ve got one of those robot vacs and want an easy way to schedule cleanings, set up specific room/zone cleaning, and check cleaning reports.

Here’s what you can do with the app: you can schedule cleanings, tell your robot to just clean a specific room, and even set up zones that it’ll focus on. It’s got some smart home integrations too, so you can control your robot vac with Alexa or Google Assistant. Took me a bit to figure out all the features, but it’s pretty user-friendly overall.

Look, if you’ve got an older iRobot vacuum, this app will be super handy. It’s not perfect – the maps can be a little glitchy sometimes and the cleaning reports could be more detailed. But it gets the job done and makes controlling your robot vac a breeze. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the iRobot ecosystem.

This is perhaps the most unreliable app on my smartphone. It constantly says my Roomba is offline, yet it allows me to reboot it, so clearly there is a connection....

Horrible. The device is a brick without the app, and the app puts you in an endless loop with no way out if the battery dies on the vacuum. Factory...
