So here's my honest take on Ruby Glint: Rock Identifier. I've tested a bunch of rock/mineral ID apps and this one's pretty solid overall. The photo recognition works well and is super fast at identifying most common stones. And the learning content is actually pretty interesting too, not just a dry encyclopedia. But it's not without its flaws - the interface can feel a little cluttered and the upgrade system is kind of confusing. Still, for a free app it provides a ton of value for rock enthusiasts. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Description

I’ve been using Ruby Glint: Rock Identifier for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you scan and identify all kinds of rocks, crystals, minerals, and gemstones. Pretty solid if you’re into that sort of thing.

Here’s what you do: you just take a photo of any rock or crystal, and the app will instantly tell you what it is. There’s also a learning section with info on different types of stones, which is pretty cool. And there’s a marketplace where you can buy and sell rocks – took me a while to figure that out but it’s a neat feature.

Look, if you’re into geology, rock collecting, or just curious about the cool stones you find, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a bit clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you want to learn more about rocks and crystals.

between being forced to use a Google or FB account and it not providing any useful information without subscribing, its useless. the internet is easier to use and find info
