So here's my honest take on Boat Beacon - AIS Navigation. I've tested a bunch of navigation and tracking apps and this one's pretty solid. The real-time AIS data is super helpful, especially the collision detection - I can see that being a lifesaver if you're out on the water. And the map interface works well and it's cool that you can share your location. Only downsides are the UI feels a little dated and unpolished, and the ads can get annoying if you don't pay. But overall, it's a pretty useful app for boaters.

Description

Been using Boat Beacon – AIS Navigation for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you track ships and other boats around you in real-time using AIS data. Pretty solid app if you’re into boating and maritime navigation.

Here’s what you do: you can see all the ships on a map, get details like their bearing, range, and closest point of approach. And there’s also a cool collision detection feature that’ll alert you if two boats are getting too close. And you can even share your own boat’s location with other users – kinda like Find My Friends but for the water.

Look, if you’re into boating or just like tracking ships for fun, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the UI can be a bit clunky at times – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.

Doesn't show boats on smaller rivers only buzy ones and uses loads of battery life.
