So here's my take on PulsePoint Respond. I've tried a bunch of community safety and emergency apps, and this one's pretty good overall. The real-time alerts about CPR needs and other local incidents are super handy, and I like that you can listen in on dispatch radio. But it does get a bit notification-heavy at times. Compared to similar apps, I'd say it strikes a nice balance between keeping you informed without totally blowing up your phone. Not a must-have, but a pretty useful one to have in your back pocket.

Description

I’ve been using PulsePoint Respond for a couple months now. It’s basically a 911-connected app that can let you know about emergencies happening near you. Pretty cool if you’re into staying on top of what’s going on in your community.

Here’s what you do – it’ll send you alerts if there’s a situation nearby where CPR is needed. You can choose to get notified about other stuff too, like wildfires, floods, and power outages. There’s also a cool feature where you can listen to live dispatch radio just by tapping a button. Took me a while to figure that one out but it’s pretty useful.

Look, if you want to be in the loop about what’s happening around your area, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the alerts can get a little annoying sometimes – but overall it does a solid job. Worth checking out if you’re into that kind of thing.

I really like this app and the information it provides. However, the most recent update changed the notification sound to a weird ticking/sucking noise and I can't find any option...

Cool idea. However, it pops up a notification every couple of minutes just to let me know that notifications are turned on. This is extremely annoying and completely unnecessary. The...
