So here's my take on AudioTool. I've tested a bunch of audio analysis apps and this one is definitely one of the more robust and feature-packed I've seen. The level of detail and measurements you can get is really impressive, way beyond what you'd find in a basic SPL meter app. And that said, it does have a bit of a learning curve to really unlock all the functionality. Not something a total newbie could just pick up and use right away. But if you're an audio professional who needs serious analysis tools, AudioTool is a pretty solid choice. Personally, I like how it covers all the bases without being overly complicated.

Pros

  • Tons of advanced audio analysis features like RTA, Leq, Sones, RT60, and more
  • Powerful signal generator with different test waveforms
  • Helpful for diagnosing audio issues and calibrating equipment
  • Detailed data visualizations like spectrogram and waterfall charts
  • Free to download with no ads or in-app purchases

Cons

  • Interface can feel a bit cluttered with all the different modes and settings
  • Steep learning curve, not the most beginner-friendly audio app
  • Occasional bugs or crashes when switching between features
  • Drains battery life faster than I'd like on my older phone

Description

I’ve been using AudioTool for a couple months now. It’s basically this really comprehensive audio analysis app that’s got a ton of features for sound engineers and audiophiles. Tons of cool stuff like an SPL (decibel) meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, and even a speaker polarity checker. Basically everything you’d need to diagnose and fix audio issues.

There’s a whole bunch of modes and settings to dig into – you can do 1/1, 1/3, 1/6 octave RTA, measure Leq, Sones, RT60, and more. Plus you can record SPL charts, generate different test signals, and even calibrate your mic. It’s got a pretty deep feature set that can get a little complex, but the UI is straightforward enough once you spend some time with it.

Look, if you’re an audio engineer or just someone who’s into this kind of stuff, you’ll probably really dig AudioTool. It’s not perfect – the interface can be a bit cluttered and the learning curve is a little steep. But overall it’s a super powerful tool that does just about everything you’d need for audio analysis and testing. Worth checking out for sure.
