So here's my honest take on Shimeji: Screen Buddies. I've tested a bunch of these virtual pet/mascot apps and this one's actually pretty good. The variety of characters is impressive, and the ability to customize their behavior is a nice touch. The free version works well enough, but if you're into it, the premium upgrade has some nice visual improvements. My only real gripe is that the ads can get old after a while, but that's kinda par for the course with these free apps. Overall, if you want a fun way to liven up your screen, Shimeji is a solid choice.

Description

Been using Shimeji: Screen Buddies for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you add animated characters to your phone or computer screen. Pretty solid if you’re into customizing your digital space.

Here’s what you do: you can pick from over a thousand different mascots, from anime characters to memes. There’s also a built-in editor if you want to create your own. And the premium version has even more detailed, high-res animations – it’s pretty cool.

Look, if you like having little virtual friends hanging out on your screen, you’ll probably enjoy this app. It’s not perfect – the free version has some ads that can get annoying – but overall it does the job of bringing your screen to life. Worth checking out.
