I've tested a bunch of these sandbox city builder games and Otok is a pretty solid entry. It's not trying to reinvent the wheel or anything, but it nails the core loop of just plopping down buildings and decorating your island. The art style is pleasant and it runs smoothly even on older phones. Downsides are that it can get a bit repetitive after a while, and the progression is pretty slow unless you wanna pay. But overall, it's a nice, chill game that scratches that "build your own little town" itch. Worth a download if you're into this type of thing.

Description

Been playing this Otok game for a couple months now. It’s basically a relaxing sandbox city builder where you just focus on making your island look as nice as possible. The game gives you a random little island to start with, and then you get these different buildings you can place around to create your own little town. Doesn’t really have any objectives or anything, you just kinda build it up however you want.

There’s a few different building styles you can get – medieval, modern, that kind of thing. And the colors of the grass, trees, water, and roofs all get randomized too which is a nice touch. Just gotta figure out how to arrange everything in a way that looks good. It’s pretty satisfying when you get your little island looking all nice and cozy.

Look, if you’re into these kind of open-ended, no-pressure building games, you’ll probably enjoy Otok. It’s not gonna blow your mind or anything, but it’s a solid time-waster that’s perfect for just kicking back and relaxing. Worth checking out if that’s your vibe.
