So here's my take on FINAL FANTASY IV. I've tested a bunch of RPGs and this one stands out with its charming retro aesthetic and surprisingly deep combat. The story and characters hooked me right away, and the active battle system keeps things feeling fresh. Sure, there's some grind involved, but the strategic depth more than makes up for it. In my experience, this is one of the better 2D fantasy RPGs on mobile. If you're a fan of the genre, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Pros

  • Tons of strategic depth without being overwhelming
  • Graphics look great and run smooth on older phones
  • Free to play, don't need to spend money to enjoy it
  • Compelling story with a great cast of characters
  • Active Time Battle system keeps combat dynamic

Cons

  • Upgrades and leveling can get grindy at higher levels
  • Tutorial doesn't fully explain all the mechanics
  • Ads can be annoying if you don't pay for the premium version
  • May be too 'old-school' for some modern mobile gamers

Description

Been playing FINAL FANTASY IV for a couple months now. It’s basically a classic RPG with a really cool retro style. You play as Cecil, a dark knight who decides to fight against the evil Baron kingdom. There’s a whole cast of characters you can team up with – like Kain the dragoon and Rosa the white mage. The story is super compelling and the turn-based battles are pretty strategic.

Here’s what you do: you travel around the world, fight bad guys, and level up your party. There’s also an ‘Active Time Battle’ system that keeps the combat feeling dynamic. And you can summon these epic creatures called Eidolons to help you out in tough fights. Takes a bit to get the hang of, but it’s a super fun and deep experience.

Look, if you’re into old-school RPGs, you’ll probably love this. It’s not perfect – the grinding can get a little tedious at times – but overall it’s a really solid game. Definitely worth checking out if you want an addictive adventure with a classic fantasy vibe.
