Been playing Ear Cat – Music Ear Training for a couple months now. It’s basically a game that helps you train your musical ear, with 80 levels that get progressively more challenging. Looks like they worked with some pro musicians to make it, so it’s got a pretty solid approach to recognizing intervals and learning to identify pitches.
Here’s what you do: you hear a note or chord, and you have to select the right option from a list. There’s also a neat solfege mode where you learn to relate pitches to a tonal center. Took me a while to get the hang of it but it’s pretty satisfying when you start nailing those intervals.
Look, if you’re into music theory or just want to improve your ear, you’ll probably dig this. It’s not perfect – the ads can get a bit annoying unless you pay – but overall it’s a helpful and entertaining app. Worth checking out for beginners and skilled musicians alike.
